The Invisible Filipina Migrant Worker In Saudi Arabia: Analyzing The Perpetuation Of Colonial Power Dynamics Through The Feminization Of Migrant Care Labor, Allyson Collado
Posters - 2026
Every year, over a million Filipino women move overseas as domestic migrant workers, sending remittances that sustain almost a tenth of the Philippine economy. The Philippine government glorifies these Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) as heroesm, but they are still under-protected and treated as invisible, replaceable commodities in nations like Saudi Arabia.
This paper argues that the exploitation of Filipina migrant care workers is not just a side effect of neoliberal globalization, but a perpetuation of colonial power relations that is built into Philippine labor export policy and Saudi Arabia's legal architecture.

Reverse engineering plays a vital role in cybersecurity by helping analysts examine unknown binaries, investigate malware, identify vulnerabilities, and better protect sensitive systems. However, once a program is compiled and stripped, the meaningful names that describe its behavior are lost, leaving behind generic function labels like FUN_00401a30. Analysts must then manually interpret decompiled code, trace call chains, and infer program behavior function by function, which is slow and mentally demanding on large binaries. To address this challenge, this project introduces A.I.R.E., a local Ghidra extension that extracts contextual evidence from stripped functions and uses a locally hosted language model to …

Mediterranean Diet Adherence And Bone Density: No Link In University Cross-County Athletes, Auston Hsieh, Sathvi Gandra, Kiana Medina
Undergraduate Student Symposium
Bone stress injuries are common among collegiate cross-country runners, occurring at rates of 28.6 and 16.1 per 100,000 athlete-exposures in women and men, respectively. Adequate, individualized dietary patterns have been shown to reduce bone stress injury risk by supporting bone mineral density (BMD); however, there is a lack of consensus on the most advantageous dietary pattern. The Mediterranean diet (MD) has been associated with improved BMD in general populations; however, its relationship to BMD in collegiate athletes remains unclear. Therefore, this study assessed the association between MD adherence and BMD in university competitive cross-country runners. Nineteen participants (sex, 7 male, …

Parent-Child Relations, Ego Identity Exploration, And Self-Esteem In Emerging Adulthood, Japji Madan, Amala Vadakumcherry, Vivan Majumdar
Undergraduate Student Symposium
Self-esteem has long been a central focus of psychological research, with positive development linked to factors such as academic achievement, peer relationships, and parent-child bonds. Sub-optimal parent-child relationships, however, can negatively impact self-esteem. While prior studies have largely emphasized extrinsic buffers (e.g., peer support) that mitigate these effects, less is known about intrinsic factors that may promote adjustment in the context of sub-optimal parenting. Emerging adulthood, a period characterized by identity exploration, may provide such intrinsic resources. This study examines whether ego identity exploration moderates the relationship between parent-child relationship quality and self-esteem in emerging adults. Participants were 132 emerging …

Antibiotic resistance continues to rise globally, increasingly limiting the effectiveness of conventional antimicrobial treatments and prompting the exploration of alternative therapies. Bacteriophages are viruses that can specifically infect and kill bacteria, and have emerged as a promising solution, particularly for infections resistant to antibiotics. This study is part of the Science Education Alliance-Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science (SEA-PHAGES) program, which aims to isolate, characterize, and catalog bacteriophages for research and potential therapeutic use. We focused on bacteriophages infecting Gordonia rubripertincta, an actinobacterium with growing clinical relevance as an opportunistic pathogen in immunocompromised patients and catheter related infections. …
Data Siloing As A Solution To Google’S Illegal Monopoly, Derek Polson, Victoria Wood
Data Siloing As A Solution To Google’S Illegal Monopoly, Derek Polson, Victoria Wood
Brigham Young University Prelaw Review
While the court-issued remedies prescribed in United States of America v. Google LLC (2024) aim to curb Google’s use of anticompetitive practices, they fail to address the structural mechanisms that sustain its monopoly. Antitrust remedies in the U.S. traditionally seek to (1) end anticompetitive practices and (2) reopen competitive market conditions. The court’s approach in this case does neither. By leaving intact Google’s ability to leverage significant barriers to entry and its unparalleled big data advantage, the court’s remedies preserve the very conditions that entrench Google’s dominance in the digital advertising and search engine markets. This note argues that data …
Regulating Ai, Jacob Leavitt
Regulating Ai, Jacob Leavitt
Brigham Young University Prelaw Review
Artificial intelligence, a new phenomena embedding itself in every aspect of public life, is advancing at unprecedented rates with potentially catastrophic consequences. While fragmented and reaction regulation frameworks are currently in place, based primarily on tort cases, this paper calls for a hybrid regulatory solution that combines federal administrative law and streamlined international policy. This paper assesses proposed regulatory solutions - tort law, an industry-drafted “AI Constitution,” a Communications Decency Act-style immunity framework, a domestic federal agency, and an international regulatory body. Based on these frameworks, the authors have developed five criteria for an effective solution - expertise, enforceability, obligation, …

Spinal cord injury (SCI) leads to a complex remodeling of the extracellular matrix (ECM), where Tenascin-C (TNC) is strongly upregulated during the early phases of the injury cascade. While TNC is known to influence neural cell behavior, its functional role and mode of presentation in guiding neuronal differentiation remains unclear. In this study, we developed a stiffness-controlled methacrylated hyaluronic acid (MeHA) hydrogel platform that mimics the mechanical properties of the spinal cord and enables defined matrix immobilization of TNC. In vivo analyses showed elevated TNC expression from day 1, with the strongest perilesional signal during the subacute period (1 week-1 …

Partisanship And Patriotism: How Political Parties Influence Citizen Perceptions Of American Symbols And National Unity, Carl Picerno
Political Science Undergraduate Theses
Over the past decade, there has been an increase in political polarization across the United States. National symbols such as the American flag, the national anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the military have become disputed markers of unity and identity. This study explores the following research question: How does political party affiliation influence Americans’ perceptions of key symbols of American pride and patriotism, and further, what do these perceptions reveal about national unity and political polarization? This study examines the following hypotheses more specifically: first, Republicans are more likely to associate national symbols with unity and patriotism and therefore …

Generative Adversarial Discrimination, Josh Fairfield
Generative Adversarial Discrimination, Josh Fairfield
Washington and Lee Journal of Civil Rights and Social Justice
Anti-discrimination law assumes that discrimination can be detected and rectified, that the evidentiary burden of the plaintiff can in fact be met. But the evolutionary logic of AI training causes it to target vulnerable groups, lie about reasoning, and above all resist detection. Because of hidden core prompts in generative AI systems, and how those prompts interact with the nature of AI training and deployment, AI will often actively hide discrimination rather than surface and address it. Stopping this will be difficult. At present, neither humans or AI can detect this emergent dark-pattern behavior. Without legal intervention, the broad use …
To Compete Or Noncompete: Lessons On The Impact Of Unenforceable Noncompete Agreements In The Entertainment Industry, Guy Mannick
To Compete Or Noncompete: Lessons On The Impact Of Unenforceable Noncompete Agreements In The Entertainment Industry, Guy Mannick
Washington and Lee Journal of Civil Rights and Social Justice
Economic and legal literature has increasingly focused on how the American legal system fails workers. One way it does so is through employee noncompetition agreements (“NCA” or “noncompete”) that limit a worker’s ability to join another company, often for better compensation and/or more responsibility. Some states enforce NCAs if they are reasonable in scope, geography, and duration; others either prohibit their application to certain types of workers or (as in California) outright prohibit them in most circumstances. More narrowly, new empirical literature about the behavioral effects of unenforceable noncompete agreements raises new questions about the behavioral impact on workers.

Cooperative Unmanned Aerial System (Uas) Geolocation Of Emitters, Christopher Peters
Cooperative Unmanned Aerial System (Uas) Geolocation Of Emitters, Christopher Peters
Electrical Engineering Theses and Dissertations
A collection of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) can be networked as a cooperative wireless sensor array to geolocate an unknown-location RF emitter using time-based measurements. In operation, however, environmental multipath and hardware errors in sensor positioning and timing can degrade emitter localization accuracy and limit the practicality of single-snapshot solutions. This dissertation evaluates time-of-arrival and time-difference-of-arrival (TOA/TDOA) geolocation for cooperative UAS arrays under realistic error sources and develops geometry-control strategies that actively reduce localization uncertainty through iterative UAS repositioning.
This work studies the Location on a Conic Axis (LOCA) method for emitter localization. Using Monte Carlo simulations with hardware error …

Best Practices For Balancing Mid-Areas In Tactical Team-Based First-Person Shooter Maps, Runzhe Fan
Level Design Theses and Dissertations
This research investigates how mid area design in Tactical Team-based First-Person Shooter maps shapes gameplay flow, team strategy, and overall map balance. Focusing on mid control as a central factor in information gathering, rotation flexibility, and positional dominance, the study analyses how layout, connectivity, and sightline structure influence fair contest between teams. The artifact was tested with 20 participants across two playtest sessions. Results suggest that the mid-area was perceived as strategically important, and experienced players showed a stronger recognition of mid-area control as impactful on round outcomes. Demo data analysis indicated that the team with more mid-area kills won …
