Traditional accounts of the common law from Blackstone to Dworkin focus on the role of precedent in judicial decision-making, the metaphysical nature of law, and the heroic judge.  As important as these perspectives are, they miss the essence of the common law, which is that it is a “complex adaptive system,” with the capacity to process vast amounts of information and broadly impact individuals and society in unexpected ways.

This Article proceeds as follows: Part II provides the background by giving a brief overview of the law governing transactions between a controlling stockholder and the corporation or its minority stockholders; laying out the complaints about recent Delaware court decisions applying this law; and explaining how S.B.-21 responded to these complaints through a belt and suspenders approach of narrowing both the definition of controlling stockholder and the difference in the legal treatment between controlling stockholder transactions and transactions with conflicted directors.

In recent decades, some Justices of the U.S. Supreme Court have questioned the broad definition of liberty that is the basis for the doctrine of substantive due process.  In his dissenting opinion in Obergefell v. Hodges, for example, Justice Thomas argued that liberty in the common-law tradition “has long been understood as individual freedom from governmental action, not as a right to a particular governmental entitlement.”  This Article will argue that such a narrow definition excludes many instances in which the common law used “liberty” as a synonym for “privilege” or “entitlement.”  Treatises that were well-known to the Framers …

Whistleblowers play a critical role in maintaining ethical standards within professional environments, yet current legal frameworks often leave professionals who report misconduct vulnerable to severe retaliation.  Despite clear ethical and fiduciary duties requiring professionals, including attorneys, accountants, and medical providers, to report known misconduct, those who fulfill these obligations may face termination, reputational harm, and financial loss.  The case of Bohatch v. This paper proposes a semi-endogenous growth theory that incorporates technology vintages and the endogenous evolution of multiple technological paradigms through innovation. It provides a characterization of both balanced growth equilibrium and transitional dynamics in an environment where new technologies continuously emerge. From a positive perspective, the model rationalizes two distinct empirical patterns. Using two centuries of US patent data, I first document that the age profile of patents has a pronounced hump shape: most contemporary patents build upon technologies that are between 50 and 100 years old. Background: Adolescents and young adults (AYA) with childhood-onset chronic conditions often struggle during the transition from pediatric to adult healthcare and from being a child living with a chronic condition to an adult who effectively manages their chronic condition. Despite shared developmental, psychosocial, and healthcare transition challenges, most research is condition-specific, limiting generalizability and overlooking shared self-management needs (1-3). The PiCASO study evaluated a peer coaching intervention to improve self-management and patient activation among AYA during this critical transition and demonstrated the feasibility and impact of a noncategorical approach.

This study examined the influence of Mobile Financial Inclusion (MFI) on the Performance of SACCOs business (PSB) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Through the Resource-Based View (RBV), the study assessed how the ability to save money (SM), transfer money (TM), and access to financial information Access (FIA) shape PSB as guided by the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). The data were collected from 226 SACCOs using mail survey self-administered questionnaires, and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) in Smart-PLS. Optical data transport in the cis-lunar regime is an enabling capability for sustained lunar exploration, space-based astronomy, and distributed sensing architectures. This paper presents the design, analysis, and experimental validation of a 100 Gb/s-class coherent optical communication transceiver that extends beyond LEO to GEO and cis-lunar applications. Target missions include lunar constellations, relays at Earth–Moon L1, and direct-to-Earth links, with relevance to NASA Artemis campaigns, enabling a future lunar infrastructure, and high-throughput science missions. Urinary calculi are commonly encountered in veterinary practice; however, information regarding their distribution of stone that underwent analysis and associated clinical findings remains limited. This study investigated the distribution of urolithiasis and the associations between stone types and clinical and laboratory findings in dogs and cats presented to the Chulalongkorn Small Animal Teaching Hospital between 2020 and 2024. The three most common stone types in both species were calcium oxalate (CaOx), struvite, and urate, with relatively stable trends over the 5-year period. A method by which an application on one EVM-compatible blockchain can obtain a cryptographically-verified IPFS content identifier (CID) for content whose canonical bytes live on a different EVM-compatible blockchain (or are stored compressed on any chain), without relying on an oracle, a governance-managed attestation, or a trusted relayer. A zero-knowledge proof of correct execution of an on-chain-IPFS-importer computation (see companion disclosure, “On-Chain Reconstruction of IPFS Content Identifiers from EVM-Resident Content-Addressed Data”) is generated off-chain and verified on-chain in constant time, regardless of the size of the underlying content.

Current safety mechanisms for general-purpose AI systems classify individual messages against categories of prohibited content. A distinct class of failures -- sycophantic drift, dependency formation, deployer-aligned output shaping -- develops across exchanges rather than within them and has no recognizable topic. Experimental evidence indicates that participants in such exchanges cannot reliably detect these failures, because the interaction itself shifts the evaluative baseline against which degradation would be judged. This document describes a two-tier, locally hosted monitoring architecture that reads the exchange from outside it.
