Theodor Blumer (1881–1964) was an early twentieth-century German composer, pianist, and conductor whose substantial contributions to the flute repertoire have received little scholarly attention. Despite his prolific output and close association with leading wind performers of his time, his music remains largely absent from contemporary scholarship and performance. This dissertation addresses that gap by presenting a comprehensive biographical timeline, defining Blumer’s compositional aesthetics, and completing an in-depth analytical examination of his programmatic works for the flute.

Drawing on primary source materials from Blumer’s estate—including personal correspondence, photographs, and dated manuscripts—this study constructs the first full biography of Blumer. Central to …

A lack of effective strategies for managing software technical debt (TD) can negatively affect organizational performance. Software leaders are concerned that unmanaged TD threatens business growth and competitiveness. Grounded in bounded rationality theory, the purpose of this qualitative pragmatic inquiry was to explore effective strategies used by software leaders to reduce software TD. The participants were six senior software leaders from private software companies in the United States. Data were collected through semistructured interviews and the review of publicly available industry reports. Despite growing attention to women of color, scholarship remains limited on how Black counselor educator mothers manage caregiving and professional duties. Cherry tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum var. cerasiforme) are small, nutrient-rich fruits, with vibrant colors, sweet flavor and health-promoting components. This study aims to investigate the fatty acids, mineral content and antioxidant properties of red, orange, yellow, and purple varieties grown in Bahrain, providing the first biochemical assessment of locally cultivated cherry tomatoes under arid conditions. Fatty acids were extracted, methylated, and analyzed using gas chromatography. The mineral content was assessed through sample digestion followed by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) analysis. The corrosion inhibition competency of titanium oxide/graphitic nitride composites coated with stainless steel substrate (TiO2/g-CN/SS) were investigated in 1.0 M of HCl solution. TiO2 nanoparticles of different loads were applied as supplementary ingredients to improve the corrosion resistance of native graphite carbon nitride (g-C3N4) (g-CN). All blended materials were characterized by different analytical tools to investigate their chemical structure, surface morphology, electrochemical property, stability, and corrosion protection capacity. The presence of TiO2 as an energetic modifier plays an important role in improving the g-CN protection proficiency and mitigating the rate of SS corrosion activity. While PX is well studied in high income countries, little is known about the state of PX in Low and Middle-income countries (LMICs). Using a normative juridical method, this research analyzes legal instruments, policies, and international commitments that shape carbon trading mechanisms in both countries. The primary issue explored is the effectiveness of regulatory frameworks in facilitating carbon trading to mitigate climate change while ensuring environmental sustainability and economic growth. The global north fascination towards the luscious natural resources owned by the global south has prompted visible environmental degradations. A smelting furnace in Sulawesi explodes, killing 21 people and injuring 38 others whilst the disposal of heavy metals pollutes the rivers. Criminal Law Society Blog

This article examines prison labor in the United States as a system rooted in the 13th Amendment’s exception clause and shaped by post–Civil War practices such as Black Codes and convict leasing. It argues that, although formally abolished, the racialized logic of forced labor persists through modern mass incarceration, where incarcerated individuals—disproportionately Black men—perform essential work for little to no pay and without basic labor protections. The article analyzes how this system reflects a continuation of historical exploitation and proposes reforms, including fair compensation, voluntary participation, and expanded labor protections, to align prison labor with principles of rehabilitation and justice.

T/TB (tomboy), as a sociolinguistic category that denotes masculine lesbians in the Chinese-speaking world, has long been criticized by community members and Western academics alike for being too heteronormative and reductive in comparison to the post-identity queer figure in Western gender/sexual discourses. Through the detailed life histories of three T/TBs who moved to the United States for college, I problematize this East/West binary within queer geography and present a more nuanced framework to understanding queer migration and queer globalization. Fairy tales are a contested space in popular culture, often reinforcing hegemonic gender norms while offering sites of resistance. This paper examines Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid (1837) and Disney’s The Little Mermaid (1989) through feminist disability theory to explore how these stories depict the compulsion to perform able-bodiedness and heteronormativity to achieve social belonging. This paper argues that although both versions offer moments of queer and disabled subversion, they ultimately reinforce a cultural fantasy of normative embodiment by positioning mermaids as inherently Other and subhuman. This includes a commitment to critical, liberatory, and person-centered praxis in archives co-creation and partnership with community organizations at the frontlines of documenting and preserving marginalized histories. Caring, in the archival context, begins with an acknowledgement of the harm mainstream archival institutions have caused for minoritized groups and then moving towards implementation of non-extractive, flexible and ethical partnership and/or stewardship of historical and cultural heritage materials. This paper examines the role of the Russian language as an instrument of soft power in the post-Soviet space, arguing that its geopolitical influence extends beyond demographic prevalence to the institutional frameworks through which it is promoted and mediated. Rather than functioning solely as a neutral medium of communication, Russian operates as an infrastructural component of influence that shapes access to media ecosystems, educational systems, and professional mobility across former Soviet republics. In this article, the author argues that although Hobbes is often associated with authoritarianism, his account of familial dominion in Leviathan reveals important liberal elements, particularly his emphasis on individual consent, personal autonomy, and the equality of the sexes in determining authority. By using the family as an analogy for political rule, Hobbes shows that sovereign power ultimately derives from individuals who authorize it, even if later constrained by the demands of self‑preservation and majority decision-making. In this article, the author argues that Hobbes treats religion as a profound political problem because its psychological origins, susceptibility to manipulation, and competing claims to authority can fracture obedience and destabilize the commonwealth. Through a systematic reinterpretation of miracles, prophecy, spirits, and Scripture, Hobbes strips religious authorities of independent power and places all public religious meaning under the sovereign’s control. The paper concludes that Hobbes does not abolish religion but domesticates it, transforming faith into a politically safe instrument that reinforces unity, obedience, and civil peace.

The main argument of this article is that right‑wing populism has endured in Hungary but collapsed in Brazil because of fundamental differences in institutional design, party cohesion, media control, and the strength of horizontal accountability. Orbán leveraged Hungary’s parliamentary fusion of powers, disciplined Fidesz party, and near-total media dominance to consolidate illiberal rule, while Bolsonaro was constrained by Brazil’s fragmented presidential system, weak party ties, independent judiciary, and pluralistic press. Through this comparative analysis, the paper shows how structural conditions—not just populist rhetoric—shape the durability of democratic backsliding.

In this article, the author argues that the recent wave of restrictive voting laws in the United States is driven less by genuine concerns about voter fraud and more by Republican efforts to counteract demographic and political changes that disadvantage the party electorally. Reviewing political science research, it shows that while some restrictions—especially felon disenfranchisement—clearly suppress turnout among marginalized groups, the overall electoral effects of most laws remain mixed due to backlash mobilization and uneven implementation. Objectives: To assess the prevalence of drug use patterns among ENT outpatient settings in Kirkuk, Iraq. Methods: This retrospective observational study was conducted in Kirkuk, Iraq, involving the collection of data from the e-Prescribing system and the review of written prescriptions, including 582 outpatient records from ENT clinics, from January 2024 to December 2024. Results: Most patients were below 20yr age (18.73%), with a male predominance (57%). Ear-related complaints like otitis media were the most frequent (35.22%). The average number of drugs per prescription was 2.82. The percentage of prescriptions in which an antibiotic was prescribed was 84.7%. The percentage …
