This thesis presents the design and simulation of an 8-tube single-ring anti-resonant hollow-core fiber for sensing applications, with particular emphasis on methane gas detection at the fundamental absorption wavelength of 3.3 µm. Conventional solid-core silica optical fibers exhibit strong multi-phonon material absorption beyond 2.5 µm, rendering them fundamentally unsuitable for efficient light guidance and direct gas sensing at mid-infrared wavelengths. Anti-resonant hollow-core fibers overcome this limitation by guiding light predominantly through an air-filled hollow core via the anti-resonant reflecting optical waveguide mechanism, in which the thin silica glass walls of the cladding tubes act as Fabry-Pérot etalons that confine the …

The Moon Adaptive Technology for Extraterrestrial Architectural Robotics (MATEAR) focuses on the development of an autonomous robotic system capable of providing structural building blocks directly from lunar regolith. As a sustained human presence on the Moon becomes a necessity, the costly and limited payload capacity associated with transporting construction goods from Earth creates a critical challenge. MATEAR addresses this problem through in-situ resource utilization (ISRU), integrating a regolith processing system onto a remote operated vehicle. On July 30, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump imposed 50% tariffs on imports from Brazil and sanctioned a sitting Brazilian Supreme Court Justice, both partially because of Brazil’s online content moderation decisions. This is an extreme, but not an isolated event: worldwide, legislators and regulators struggle to craft public policies that address problems of disinformation and online harassment while protecting the freedom of expression—leading to increasing international confrontations. Surgical complications remain a major source of preventable morbidity, mortality, and health care expenditure, but existing frameworks such as the Clavien-Dindo classification and Comprehensive Complication Index are clinician-centred and intervention-focused and fail to capture cumulative patient-centred outcomes. This protocol outlines the Complications After Major and Minor Urological Surgery (CAMUS) initiative, a global, multiphase effort to redefine complication reporting, risk stratification, and outcome measurement in urological surgery. For more than a century, workers’ compensation has rested on a basic tradeoff: Employees surrender their right to sue employers in tort in exchange for prompt, guaranteed, and limited benefits for workplace injuries. Over time, however, the “Grand Bargain” of workers’ compensation has eroded. Across states, injured workers face sharply different benefit levels, rising procedural barriers, claim denials, delays, and cost-driven medical determinations. Yet state courts have largely declined to police the adequacy of workers’ compensation benefits, and state legislatures often face strong pressure to reduce employer costs rather than expand worker protections. Delaware’s corporate statutes are typically drafted by a small group of repeat players—primarily attorneys from some of Delaware’s leading law firms—whose proposals are routinely enacted with minimal public input. Hundreds of thousands of people who’ve been exposed to asbestos and opioids have had their claims funneled into trusts through mass-tort bankruptcy cases. At their start, both the asbestos and opioid epidemics were limited to occupations and geographic locations that primarily affected lower-class white men. Today, however, women and people of color are also harmed. Like the claimants of earlier generations, their claims are funneled into bankruptcy trusts. Women and people of color have unequal access to treatment and have higher mortality rates from their opioid and asbestos exposure, making them more likely to have larger dollar value claims in …

The “Right to Repair” has captured the hearts of an interesting conglomeration of stakeholders, ranging everywhere from consumer protection advocates to automotive owners’ and farmers’ lobbies to environmental protection groups. The movement responds to an increasing level of manufacturer control over products post-sale in the “software era” virtually unheard of prior to the “digitalization” of products. With so many devices now containing proprietary software, manufacturers are able to dictate how a consumer engages with the underlying software, which is often directly implicated for product repair. American constitutionalism operates against the backdrop of democratic processes, but the federal Constitution approaches democracy differently than state constitutions. The federal Constitution is built to fend off rash majoritarianism through checks and balances and siphoning accountability into a few highly mediated representative bottlenecks—elections for President and Congress. State constitutional structure is different. Through processes like judicial elections, the citizen initiative, referendum, recall, popular conventions, and elections for various executive offices, state constitutions reflect skepticism of wholesale representative democracy and trust in extant electoral majorities to participate in governance. This thesis examines the relationship between Christian thought and perspectives on immigration in the United States, particularly in the context of the current Trump administration, which is focusing heavily on restrictive immigration policies. It explores the historical relationship between religion and government through government commissions, as well as changes in key immigration policies such as the “sensitive locations” guidelines affecting enforcement at and near places of worship. Existing scholarship attributes increased extremism to political polarization, the appropriation of liberal norms of free speech, and white male racial anxiety. Present debates concern the popularity of alternative social networking platforms that provide opportunities for radicalization. Current scholars assume that online alternative sites are relatively isolated and engage in the most extreme cases of right-wing violence and hate speech. Through the establishment of Fisheries Management Councils (FMCs), it paved the way for top-down management approaches that helped the government combat nationwide declines or collapses in fish stocks. Among the myriad responsibilities of the FMCs was the expectation that amendments to existing fisheries management plans would be a necessity to adapt to modern circumstances. Enamel is one of the most critical structural components of the tooth. As the outermost layer, it serves as a protective barrier, shielding the underlying dentin and dental pulp from physical trauma and mechanical forces. The formation and mineralization of enamel are regulated by specialized cells known as ameloblasts. Once enamel maturation is complete, these cells undergo apoptosis. Consequently, enamel lacks the capacity for natural regeneration after damage or erosion, which can result from various environmental factors. This project analyzes coverage from major American news outlets regarding the killing of Awdah Hathaleen by Yinnon Levi, using firsthand accounts of the event as a point of reference. These accounts are organized into a timeline of the event that coverage is compared with. The propaganda model outlined in Manufacturing Consent by Herman & Chomsky (1988) is used as a theoretical framework, namely the concept of unworthy victims. This framework posits that victims of violence perpetrated by American client states are framed as deserving of said violence.
