Since the formation of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the 1900s, collegiate athletes (student-athletes) have been prohibited from using their own name, image and likeness (NIL) for profit. But on July 1, 2021, the NCAA changed course and began allowing student-athletes to profit from their own NIL. In the past few years, U.S. college athletics have undergone significant changes, most notably introducing monetary compensation for student-athletes’ NIL. Today in the United States, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) estimates that about 40% of people aged 65 or older have age-associated memory issues. This thesis reinterprets the American Revolution by examining it not solely as a colonial rebellion against British authority but as a conflict that unfolded within American society itself. Long before independence was declared, political authority in British North America had already begun to fracture. Imperial institutions weakened, while revolutionary committees, militias, and local associations asserted competing claims to legitimacy. Rather than emerging from a unified population rising together in common purpose, the Revolution developed within communities already strained by suspicion, surveillance, and contested allegiance. More than 40% of U.S. women have cardiovascular disease (CVD), and nearly half have at least one major risk factor. Sparse evidence exists related to the role of childrearing (regardless of prior pregnancy) on CVD. A recent literature review highlighted the influence of reproduction on CVD and health and identified opportunities for advancement. At present, it has yet to be discovered from prospective epidemiologic studies the extent to which parenting and maternal events have influence on cardiovascular health and clinical events. Alabama remains one of the worst states in the nation for adult mental health access despite decades of reform and explicit commitments to improving care. Framing access as the ability to recognize need, locate services, reach them, enter care in a reasonable time, and continue or adjust care, this mixed-methods, three-paper dissertation examines how Alabama’s adult mental health system structures those pathways and how adults and providers navigate its constraints. Science-Related Rhetoric And Action By United States Presidents From 1977-2017, Amanda E. Shea

Presidential rhetoric and executive action have played an important role in shaping how scientific issues are presented to the American public. This project examined how United States presidents from Jimmy Carter through Barack Obama (1977–2017) employed science-related rhetoric and policy regarding climate science and reproductive health. Findings suggest that reproductive health remained a partisan issue throughout the study period, while climate science shifted from a largely bipartisan concern to a more partisan one over time. The results also indicate that presidential rhetoric and executive action were not always aligned, with several administrations using science-related rhetoric more extensively than corresponding policy.

This qualitative case study explores the factors motivating mid-career (4–15 years) in New York City (NYC) to stay in the profession beyond the novice years (1–3 years), as well as the challenges they face. Utilizing self-determination theory and language ideologies as theoretical frameworks, this study captures the motivating factors and challenges of 15 mid-career bilingual teachers across NYC. Findings indicated that relationships with students and colleagues, professional growth, supportive administrators, and alignment between language ideologies and program structures served as motivating factors to remain in the profession by reinforcing teachers’ sense of relatedness, competence, and autonomy. The growth of neuroimaging evidence in the courtroom is consistent with the increased reliance on technical and machine-based specialties at trial. Litigants routinely seek to introduce neuroimaging evidence in both civil and criminal trials to supplement traditional medical, psychiatric, and psychological opinion testimony. A substantial portion of neuroimaging evidence is still in the developmental stage—what I term “off-label neuroimaging.” Unsurprisingly, evaluating the reliability of developing neuroimaging poses challenging questions for gatekeeping courts. This offers a more comprehensive and multimodal perspective than traditional functional classification. While the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has begun using project-level context classification, the agency will benefit from introducing network-level context classification. This will improve guidance, enhance project prioritization, and support the development of projects that better address the needs of all users. This comment critically responds to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) May 2026 proposal to implement a government-wide nondisclosure agreement (NDA) for federal workers. Drawing from our scholarship on workplace governance, employee mobility, whistleblowing, and information controls, we argue that the OPM’s proposal is inconsistent with growing recognition of the risks associated with broad workplace secrecy agreements. Recent federal and state reforms limiting the use of NDAs recognize that such agreements can deter reporting, suppress information of public concern, and impede litigants and government actors from prosecuting wrongdoing. In addition, while the Electrical Engineering department currently offers approximately five weeks of RADAR-focused laboratory material within EE 424: Intro to Remote Sensing, this limited exposure is insufficient to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of RADAR theory and practical applications.
