Membrane-associated fungal proteins mediate essential functions and contain bioactive proteins with therapeutic potential but are underrepresented in aqueous extracts due to hydrophobicity and lipid associations. Ultrasound-assisted aqueous extraction was applied to Lion’s mane (Hericium erinaceus), and the proteins were fractionated by molecular weight (≥30 kDa, 10–30 kDa, 3–10 kDa). Proteomic profiling using data-dependent (DDA) and data-independent (DIA) mass spectrometry identified 1500 and 1702 proteins, respectively (1% global FDR). Ultrasonication induced surface irregularity and a less compact, heterogeneous microstructure. Topology predictions showed higher proportions of transmembrane and secretory proteins in ultrasonicated fractions. Family involvement is essential for positive school outcomes. Yet research suggests that family engagement for students with disabilities may be marked by conflict. Furthermore, creating an environment that promotes active engagement for immigrant families may be challenging. In this paper, we synthesize existing research, legal guidance, and community-engaged insights to present four practice-oriented recommendations for educators and practitioners working with immigrant families of children with disabilities. Grounded in Hans and Love’s stages of immigrant family engagement, these recommendations aim to support meaningful and culturally responsive participation in special education processes.

Azzedine Kettani examines the doctrine of lesion (laesio)—gross economic imbalance in a contract—within the Moroccan DOC. He notes that the DOC provides no definition of lesion, nor do other codes. Rather than merely measuring the "wrinkles" of this aging code, Kettani seeks to explore a part of the DOC that has remained intact not because of its robust constitution, but because it has rarely been invoked. Control-Flow Analysis (CFA) is a static technique for understanding the execution of higher-order programs without running the code. CFA aids in identifying bugs, assisting program comprehension, and exposing optimization opportunities. Constructing a CFA typically begins with an idealized evaluator--such as an abstract machine or interpreter--and proceeds by approximating components of evaluation to ensure that: (a) the analysis is sound (representing all possible behaviors), and (b) the analysis is guaranteed to terminate (finitely representable). Hands-on engineering design can help bridge the gap between theoretical coursework and real-world engineering practice, particularly during the middle years of undergraduate programs. This paper presents the implementation and outcomes of an open-ended final project in ELEC 310: Embedded Systems Design at the University of San Diego. Student teams designed and prototyped smart environmental monitoring systems using STM32 microcontrollers, selecting sensors and defining system objectives under realistic constraints. Project outcomes were evaluated using prototype demonstrations, team technical reports, and post-project student reflections analyzed through inductive thematic analysis. This dissertation presents transcriptions of three nineteenth-century opera arie for oboe and string quintet as a means of engaging and adding to the instrument’s relatively limited Romantic-era repertoire. While the eighteenth and twentieth centuries produced substantial bodies of work for the oboe, the nineteenth-century reflects a noticeable reduction in solo and chamber compositions, influenced by factors including slower mechanical development, and aesthetic-related acoustic constraints. Background and Objectives: Vamorolone is a dissociative corticosteroid (CS) approved by the US Food and Drug Administration in 2023 for treating Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). This study evaluated the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics (PK) of vamorolone in young boys with DMD; exploratory objectives included efficacy and patient-reported outcomes. Methods: A 12-week, phase II, open-label, multiple-dose study (VBP15-006) enrolled CS-naive boys with DMD aged 2–< 4 years in Canada. Participants received 2 or 6 mg/kg/d oral vamorolone. An ongoing expanded access protocol (EAP) provided longer-term data. Primary end points were the occurrence of treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) and changes from baseline to week 12 in height, weight, and body mass index (BMI); other end points included PK and effects of vamorolone on muscle function. Results: Twenty boys (mean age [SD] 3.4 [0.39] years) with similar baseline characteristics were enrolled; all completed VBP15-006 and 19 continued to receive vamorolone through EAP Canada. TEAEs were mostly mild, with no deaths, serious TEAEs, or TEAEs leading to drug discontinuation during VBP15-006. TEAEs were more frequent with 6 mg/kg/d vamorolone than with 2 mg/kg/d, with gastrointestinal disorders and infections/infestations, respectively, most reported. Vamorolone use was associated with morning serum cortisol reductions in all patients, more pronounced with 6 mg/kg/d. Stable growth trajectories were observed at both doses throughout VBP15-006 and the EAP Canada follow-up period, with a total median (Q1; Q3) exposure to vamorolone of 2 years (1.7; 2.3). By EAP Canada last visit, 8/19 patients had weight and BMI z-scores changes >0.5, suggestive of excessive weight gain over time. Vamorolone displayed a dose-dependent PK profile with rapid absorption and no accumulation. Dose-dependent improvements in motor function (measured by Bayley-III gross motor scaled score) were observed. Glucose metabolism …

Mental health conversational agents (MHCAs) offer scalable, accessible psychological support yet raise concerns about safety and appropriateness for trauma, exposed users. While trauma-informed care (TIC) principles, emphasizing safety, trust, empowerment, collaboration, peer support, and cultural sensitivity, are well-established in clinical practice, their application and user interpretation in chatbot contexts remain unexplored. This study aimed to explore (1) how users conceptualize trauma-informed care in the context of mental health chatbots and (2) what factors can help us predict whether users perceive their chatbot interaction as trauma-informed.

HIV testing is still an important component of HIV prevention, and disparities persist among women in Ghana. This study examines psychosocial and socio-demographic factors influencing HIV testing behavior, using data from the 2022 Ghana Demographic and Health Survey. A binary logistic regression result revealed that older, more educated, and wealthier women, and women who utilized HIV test kits, exhibit a much higher likelihood of undergoing HIV testing. Awareness of HIV stigma reduces the likelihood of women undergoing testing. Variations existed depending on the place of residence. Women in rural and northern belts were less likely to undergo testing. Marital status, …
