Background/aim: Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and the hepatic cholinergic axis are critical regulators of lipid metabolism and inflammatory signaling; however, their time-dependent interplay in hepatocytes remains incompletely understood. Clarifying how n-6 and n-3 PUFAs interact with cholinergic pathways may provide mechanistic insight into metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).

This thesis analyzed two media texts about former Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman and how these texts constructed her identity during and after the Larry Nassar scandal. I analyzed these texts through the lenses of whiteness, vulnerability, and carceral feminism. Looking at how the media acts as a disciplinary apparatus in this case, I argue that women athletes’ bodies are portrayed as having a vulnerability to abuse that only the "good" patriarchy can address. I seek to show that the media use depictions of women’s vulnerability and need for patriarchal help to remind women athletes that, in cases of abuse, who …

Increasing corporate control of the global seed supply and restrictions to local exchange threaten the autonomy of smallholder farmers and Indigenous communities. This project contributes to agricultural sovereignty movements by examining the decisions farmers make to address climate uncertainty, market volatility, and development agendas. Specifically, how is seed saving practiced and understood in relation to sovereignty? It reimagines what global food systems might look like if investment were directed to producers rather than intermediaries, arguing that cultivators lack support, not knowledge or capacity. Across these domains, seeds act as a motif to describe the concerns, innovations, and visions of farmers.

Sexual minority individuals face increased risk for numerous forms of psychopathology compared to heterosexual individuals, including borderline personality disorder (BPD). Previous investigation into the causes of these mental health disparities highlights several sexual minority-specific factors that may render sexual minority individuals uniquely vulnerable to meeting criteria for a BPD diagnosis, including chronic exposure to minority stressors, such as sexual orientation-based discrimination and stigmatizing beliefs. Some scholars have argued that the relevance of these minority-specific stressful experiences hampers the utility of a BPD diagnosis among members of this historically marginalized population. The commodification of personal data and the proliferation of Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) have rendered the arbitrability of data privacy disputes an urgent and underexplored question in Indian commercial law. This paper examines the arbitrability of disputes arising under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, with particular focus on subject-matter arbitrability as crystallised in Vidya Drolia v. Durga Trading Corporation. It argues that while such disputes are contractual in nature, their arbitrability remains contested insofar as they implicate the rights of third-party data principals, introducing a public dimension that complicates referral to arbitration. This document describes the design rationale, predicted properties, and molecular specification for RI-4FPhe-SS31, a retroinverso analogue of the mitochondria-targeted tetrapeptide SS-31 (elamipretide, D-Arg-Dmt-Lys-Phe-NH2) incorporating a 4-fluorophenylalanine substitution. The two modifications address independent metabolic vulnerabilities of the parent compound: the retroinverso backbone confers resistance to endogenous peptidases, while the 4-fluorine substitution on the C-terminal phenylalanine blocks CYP450-mediated aromatic hydroxylation. The combined effect is predicted to extend the plasma half-life of the molecule while preserving the net +3 charge and the spatial arrangement of cationic and aromatic side chains required for selective interaction with cardiolipin at the inner mitochondrial membrane. In the Sliding Window Interaction Grammar (SWING) framework, interactions are represented as sequences of biochemical tokens embedded using Doc2Vec, allowing robust generalisation to unobserved MHC alleles. However, classification remains limited to a single Euclidean feature space that is incapable of resolving binding landscapes. The role of coping strategies on negative emotions has been extensively researched; however, there is limited literature specifically examining this link within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in Korea. This study fills this gap by examining the impact of physical activity and parental discussion on depression among 2,265 Korean adolescents in 2021. Black homeschooling has grown significantly among African American families, yet existing scholarship has not fully theorized how race, gender, and institutional power operate within homeschooling communities. My dissertation examines how Black mothers resist and reorganize a racialized educational terrain that extends beyond conventional schooling into homeschooling spaces. Drawing on Diamond’s (2006) racialized educational terrain framework, I introduce the Racialized Homeschooling Terrain (RHT) — an original conceptual framework that demonstrates how homeschooling spaces are racialized in similar and distinct ways. Rivers are exposed to global warming and eutrophication, which in turn affect phytoplankton biomass in rivers. This study investigates the changes in Chl-a concentration, an indicator of phytoplankton biomass. A microcosm experiment was conducted, with water sampling from the Tigris River in Baghdad during the wet season. Temperature increase was based on raising the temperature by 3 °C higher than the ambient temperature, while nutrient enrichment was based on the mean values of soluble reactive NO_3^-1 and PO_4^-3 verified in the Tigris River. Several studies have reported the potential antiviral activity of Artemisia species, which is related mainly to their flavonoid constituents. Transmembrane serine protease 2 (TMPRSS2) and angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) are critical SARS-CoV-2 entry factors. In this study, the phytochemical composition and modulatory effects of Artemisia herba-alba leaf extract on the gene expression of ACE2 and TMPRSS2 were investigated. To identify the flavonoid profile, HPLC was used. Cytotoxicity was estimated in A549 carcinoma and HDFn fibroblasts using an MTT assay (IC₅₀ = 114.8 μg/mL).
