Historical Marker Plaques In Arkansas, Armando Arellano
Historical Marker Plaques In Arkansas, Armando Arellano
Theses and Dissertations
Historical markers are made with a purpose of expanding the knowledge and recognition of individuals, events, or locations which are significant enough to contribute to the community. Historical markers should also stand firm to historical accuracy based on the verified and available scholarly resources. Historic preservation and manufacturing metal foundries have been a key element behind the process of historical markers, as they have been known for their recognition for historic significance. The recognition and remembrance of historical markers themselves, along with the historic preservation, has been a significant effort for the State of Arkansas, although it is not getting …
Crafting A Queer Information Literacy (Qil) Framework: An Exploration Of Embodiment, Digital Learning, And Information Literacy In Academic Spaces, Joseph Kevin Sebastian
Crafting A Queer Information Literacy (Qil) Framework: An Exploration Of Embodiment, Digital Learning, And Information Literacy In Academic Spaces, Joseph Kevin Sebastian
Library Faculty Presentations
This presentation introduces and explores Queer Information Literacy (QIL) as a critical, embodied, and transformative framework within academic and digital learning contexts. Bridging theoretical explorations with practical applications, the project delves into the intersections of queerness, embodiment, and information literacy, challenging and subverting normative structures embedded within traditional literacy models and digital learning environments. Personal narratives from the researcher’s experiences as an academic librarian and digital learning specialist enrich the discussion, offering tangible insights and strategies for enacting QIL. The presentation ultimately advocates for a QIL that is collaborative, adaptive, and reflective, honoring the fluidity and multiplicity of queer experiences …
Neverland Theory: An Introduction To A Childish-Positive Framework, Daniel M. Gardner
Neverland Theory: An Introduction To A Childish-Positive Framework, Daniel M. Gardner
University Honors Theses
Proposes, defines, and defends the beginnings of an original theoretical approach (Neverland Theory) which advocates for the revitalization of psychotherapy through embracing and incorporating more of the "Childish" in clinical practice. Three formal aspects of Childishness are proposed and briefly defined. A literature review of three existing psychotherapies which effectively incorporate the proposed Childish aspects are highlighted and shown to be effective and efficacious. It is argued that prioritization of these aspects contributes to treatment outcome in a way which goes beyond what can be empirically evidenced.
The Construction Of Character And Authenticity On Rupaul's Drag Race, Carli Pickett
The Construction Of Character And Authenticity On Rupaul's Drag Race, Carli Pickett
University Honors Theses
One of the most common instructions delivered to the drag queens competing on RuPaul's Drag Race is to show their "true self." At first glance, RuPaul's Drag Race foregrounds authenticity and individuality, but it does so through a constructed lens that shapes its contestants into characters. While storylines and characterizations on the show are necessarily informed by the queen's actions, they are heavily shaped by editing.
In this essay, I will be exploring the ways in which authenticity manifests itself throughout several seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race. Each episode of Season Seven, Eight and Nine was watched with special …
A Marxist Analysis Of Women's Labor In The Soviet Union, Shania Sweet
A Marxist Analysis Of Women's Labor In The Soviet Union, Shania Sweet
University Honors Theses
This thesis examines the evolution of Soviet women's labor and labor laws through a Marxist lens, emphasizing the contributions of Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, and Vladimir Lenin. It explores the ideological foundations of communism concerning gender equality and the legislative measures taken by the Soviet Union to emancipate women from traditional capitalist oppression. The analysis reveals significant advancements in women's rights, such as legal equality and protection in the workforce, yet highlights the inconsistencies and challenges, particularly under Stalin's regime, where ideological shifts and practical enforcement diverged from Marxist principles. The research utilizes historical documents, legislative texts, and scholarly analyses …

Assessing The Impact Of Storage Conditions On Rna From Human Saliva And Its Application To The Identification Of Mrna Biomarkers For Asthma, Poorna Manasa Bhamidimarri, David Fuentes, Laila Salameh, Bassam Mahboub, Rifat Hamoudi
Faculty, Staff and Student Publications
Introduction: Human saliva was used to develop non-invasive liquid biopsy biomarkers to establish saliva as an alternate to blood and plasma in translational research. The present study focused on understanding the impact of sample storage conditions on the extraction of RNA from saliva and the RNA yield, to be applied in clinical diagnosis. In this study, genes related to asthma were used to test the method developed.
Methods: Salivary RNA was extracted from three subjects using the Qiazol® based method and quantified by both spectrophotometric (NanoDrop) and fluorometric (Qubit®) methods. RNA integrity was measured using a bioanalyzer. Quantitative PCR was …

All Decisions
The landlord commenced a non-payment proceeding against the tenant based on the tenant's alleged default on rent for a market rate apartment. The tenant argued that the apartment was illegally deregulated and the landlord is charging an illegal rent. The court granted the tenant's motion for discovery to allow them to investigate their claims. The court also denied the landlord's motions to strike the tenant's defenses and for summary judgment. The court found that there are triable issues of fact concerning the apartment's regulatory status and fraud.

The Sponsorship Function In Collegiate Athletics: Discussing A Potential Outcome Of The Jenkins V. Ncaa Lawsuit, John A. Fortunato
Denver Sports & Entertainment Law Journal
The Jenkins v. Nat'1 Collegiate Athletic Ass'n ("Jenkins") lawsuit is now at the forefront of the legal challenges that could forever alter the economic system of collegiate athletics. The Jenkins lawsuit claims that the NCAA and the five power conferences are violating antitrust laws by colluding in creating a system where all universities are restricted in only offering scholarships of equal value to players. The plaintiffs are seeking a ruling that will essentially create a system where there is competition in the recruitment and compensation of players. If a court ruling produces this open market system, universities will need additional …

The Failure Of The Professional And Amateur Sports Protection Act, Matthew D. Mills
The Failure Of The Professional And Amateur Sports Protection Act, Matthew D. Mills
Denver Sports & Entertainment Law Journal
For the last fifty years, the federal government has been aggressively battling illegal gambling by enacting legislation. The most recent act, The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA), prohibits states from authorizing and licensing sports gambling. New Jersey recently challenged the constitutionality of PASPA, in NCAA v. Governor of N.J., where the Third Circuit held that nothing in PASPA offends the United States Constitution. Though New Jersey has appealed the Third Circuit's ruling to the United States Supreme Court, there has been no indication whether the Supreme Court will grant a writ of certiorari.

The Legal Shift Of The Ncaa's Big 5 Member Conferences To Independent Athletic Associations: Combining Nfl And Conference Governance Principles To Maintain The Unique Product Of College Athletics, Connor J. Bush
Denver Sports & Entertainment Law Journal
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) can no longer effectively govern big-time intercollegiate athletics. Since the 1984 Board of Regents decision, college athletics has grown exponentially, yet the NCAA still attempts to govern over 1,000 colleges and universities under a single organization. The "Big 5" college athletic conferences (ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, and SEC) have become more autonomous in recent years, independently negotiating lucrative media rights and post-season bowl agreements. Each conference has also adopted its own constitution and bylaws to effectively manage its unique product.
This Comment argues that the "Big 5" conferences should separate from the …
