Determinants Of Bank Employees ' Engagement In Asset Misappropriation In Tanzania, Juma Said Suluo, Brenda Kanisius Mayemba

This study examines the determinants of employees ' engagement in asset misappropriation within the Tanzanian banking sector, drawing on the Fraud Triangle theory's elements of pressure, opportunity, and rationalization. A sample of 148 bank employees was analysed using a linear regression model. The findings revealed that opportunity emerged as the only significant predictor of asset misappropriation, indicating that when opportunities are perceived to be available, the likelihood of fraudulent behaviour increases and vice versa. However, neither pressure nor rationalization proved to have a significant influence. This study investigates how Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) information is communicated on the websites of tourism firms in Tanzania. Specifically, the study assesses the quantity, prominence and style of presentation of CSR information on the websites. Data was collected through a content analysis of the websites of the member firms of the Hotel Association of Tanzania (HAT) and Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO). The findings reveal that about 50% of tourism firms disclose their CSR information on their websites. This study examines the influence of transformational leadership and organisational support in elevating workplace employee wellbeing. A total of 467 self-administered questionnaires were distributed to Tanzanian public higher-learning institution employees. The findings from partial least squares structural equation modelling demonstrated that transformational leadership directly influences employee wellbeing at the workplace. The study's results further demonstrate that the impact of transformational leadership on workplace employee wellbeing is partially mediated by perceived organisational support. These findings provide insights that may serve as a foundation for managers and policymakers when developing policies and programmes to enhance employee wellbeing. Background: Aging significantly elevates the risk of developing neurodegenerative diseases. Neuroinflammation is a universal hallmark of neurodegeneration as well as normal brain aging. Which branches of age-related neuroinflammation, and how they precondition the brain toward pathological progression, remain ill-understood. The DNA damage response is critical for maintaining genome integrity and is commonly disrupted in the development of cancer. PPM1D (protein phosphatase Mg2+/Mn2+-dependent 1D) is a master negative regulator of the response; gain-of-function mutations and amplifications of PPM1D are found across several human cancers making it a relevant pharmacological target. Here, we used CRISPR/Cas9 screening to identify synthetic-lethal dependencies of PPM1D, uncovering superoxide dismutase-1 (SOD1) as a potential target for PPM1D-mutant cells. Hyperpolarization and cyclic nucleotide (HCN) activated ion channels are critical for the automaticity of action potentials in pacemaking and rhythmic electrical circuits in the human body. Unlike most voltage-gated ion channels, the HCN and related plant ion channels activate upon membrane hyperpolarization. Although functional studies have identified residues in the interface between the voltage-sensing and pore domain as crucial for inverted electromechanical coupling, the structural mechanisms for this unusual voltage-dependence remain unclear. The current study used a path analysis model to examine how perceived cognitive control, health locus of control- self, engagement in physical activity, and engagement in challenging cognitive activities relate to purpose in life longitudinally. In this paper, we trace the emergence of what we term the digital plant humanities (DPH) as an evolution of burgeoning botanical interest among environmental and digital humanists. We argue that DPH coalesces the theoretical and methodological frameworks of the three research areas of plant humanities, environmental humanities, and digital humanities. After conceptualising DPH, we analyse three projects representative of the emergent field—the Native American Ethnobotany Database; Herbaria 3.0; and Microcosms: A Homage to Sacred Plants of America—while referring to a broader range of formative projects including the Plant Humanities Lab.

Claudins are a 27-member family of ~25 kDa membrane proteins that integrate into tight junctions to form molecular barriers at the paracellular spaces between endothelial and epithelial cells. As the backbone of tight junction structure and function, claudins are attractive targets for modulating tissue permeability to deliver drugs or treat disease. However, structures of claudins are limited due to their small sizes and physicochemical properties—these traits also make therapy development a challenge. This article overviews outcomes in different types of refugee claims in Canada. It critiques standard legal research methodologies in the refugee law field due to skews in publication practices. To address these skews, the article employs empirical quantitative research methods using administrative tribunal data and computational methods. It provides a snapshot of refugee claim numbers, countries of origin, claim categories, and outcomes. The article then underscores the benefits of supplementing doctrinal legal research with empirical quantitative research methods, outlines barriers to the adoption of such methods, and offers guidance and tools to assist other researchers in overcoming those barriers.

The prevalence of pressure injuries, particularly in older adults, continues to be disturbingly high, especially in those suffering from chronic diseases and frailty, bringing a higher awareness of applied preventive and therapeutic measures (Jaul et al., 2019). In long-term care nurses, will an educational, evidenced-based pressure ulcer prevention program impact health outcomes by increasing nurses’ knowledge, compared to no intervention over four weeks? The Pieper-Zulkowski Pressure Ulcer/Injuries Knowledge Test was used to evaluate the nurse's pressure injury knowledge pre- and post-educational intervention.
