This study seeks to examine the relationship between alternative measures of criminal history and recidivism in a cohort of convicted individuals released from prison in Illinois between 2010 and 2015. The current study expands on prior research by examining the relationship between prior criminal history and recidivism using alternative measures of both to account for potential bias resulting from differential policing activities that may lead to convictions. Traditionally, risk assessment instruments have relied on an individual’s total prior convictions for any offense and any re-arrest after release from prison. This study aims to test the influence of organizational citizenship behaviour (OCB) as an independent variable on public service motivation (PSM) as a dependent variable within the Companies Registration Department, a subsidiary of the Ministry of Trade. Data collection encompassed responses from 140 participants, spanning departmental managers, section heads, unit leaders, and staff members, obtained through a comprehensive questionnaire. The ensuing data analysis employed a descriptive-analytical approach, incorporating various statistical methodologies, such as mean computation, standard deviation, simple linear regression, and others, facilitated by statistical software packages such as (SPSS). This article investigates the differences and similarities between the news frames used by online mainstream media in Vietnam and Australia when reporting COVID-19 in the early waves of the pandemic. The project uses constant comparative analysis to interrogate data gathered from two online news sources: ABC Online (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) in Australia, and Tuoi Tre Online in Vietnam. The article concludes that the Australian Broadcasting Corporation coverage focuses more on social, political and economic factors than is the case with Tuoi Tre Online, which foregrounds civic responsibility in response to the COVID-19 epidemic. Microplastics (MPs) are pervasive pollutants that pose significant threats to marine ecosystems. This review examines the impact of MPs on marine organisms, highlighting key areas of concern and knowledge gaps.The aim of this paper is to synthesize recent findings on the occurrence and biological impacts of MPs in marine environments. For this purpose a total of 171 studies conducted in different geographical regions were examined in order to ascertain the interaction of numerous vertebrate and invertebrate taxonomic groups with microplastic. The primary objectives of this study were to advance our understanding of the morphological intricacies exhibited by the endemic fish species, Delminichthys ghetaldii, commonly known as the Trebinje minnow, and to determine intraspecific morphological variability. The study involved the examination of 76 mature specimens collected from five distinct karst fields located within the Dinaric region of Eastern Herzegovina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, since the year 2018. A comprehensive analysis of 22 morphometric and 8 meristic characters was conducted to unravel the underlying patterns of variation. Agrivoltaic Decision Tools For Perennial And Field Crop Farmers, Jill Fitzsimmons, Tae-Hyun Kim

This article describes a series of spreadsheet-based tools to help farmers estimate costs, revenues, and yields from agricultural production under different configurations of agrivoltaic installations for field and perennial crops. Crop-specific log books allow farmers to project changes in activity-level costs from the field due to agrivoltaic installations. The whole-farm tool helps farmers aggregate activity-level net returns up to the farm level to calculate projections of trade-offs between crop production with or without agrivoltaic installations. We present tools for lettuce and cranberries, but the tools are comprehensive and inclusive and so can be modified for other perennial and field crops.

The production of biofuels like ethanol has increased with the transition to renewable energy. Starch can be converted into ethanol through chemical modification. Increasing the availability of starch is crucial to fight back climate change thus, researchers have focused on the biotechnological modification of plants. This modification is known as transgenics, where a plant is modified by the insertion of genes, to make it as productive as possible. Non-homologous end joining (NHEJ) is a crucial double-strand break repair pathway in mammalian cells, resolving DNA damage from ionizing radiation and during V(D)J recombination. Although DNA Ligase IV is the only mammalian DNA ligase involved in NHEJ, it functions as a single-turnover enzyme in vitro. Recent cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) studies revealed two LigIV molecules at the NHEJ synapse, supporting the hypothesis that two ligase molecules are needed for DSB repair by NHEJ. This study aims to validate this hypothesis by providing evidence for coordinated ligation at optimal distance and polarity preference for catalytic activity by LigIV. Wildlife are hosts of ectoparasites, such as fleas and ticks that may transmit human and animal pathogens. Little is known about the ecology of many ectoparasite species native to southern Texas, or their role in pathogen maintenance and transmission. Much attention has been given to the role of nonnative nilgai antelope as cattle fever tick hosts and agents of dispersal, but little attention has been given to other ectoparasites that may utilize nilgai antelope as hosts.
