The Lindi coast of the Indian Ocean, located in southeastern Tanzania, supports rich biodiversity and has recently experienced rapid growth in socio-economic activities such as fishing, mining, and oil and gas exploration. These activities may enhance levels of natural radioactivity in coastal sediments, potentially increasing radiation exposure to local populations. Therefore, monitoring radioactivity levels and estimating associated radiation doses in this region is important. In this study, thirty-six sediment samples were collected from twelve locations along the Lindi coast and analysed for naturally occurring radionuclides using high-purity germanium (HPGe) gamma-ray spectrometry. Development Finance Flows Under Monetary Policy Tightening: The Nigerian Experience 1981-2023, Hilary Temofeh Kanwanye Ph.D

This paper investigates the impact of monetary policy tightening on external development finance flows in Nigeria, focusing on foreign direct investment (FDI), official development assistance (ODA), and remittances over 1981–2023. Using the ARDL bounds testing approach, the study examines short-run and long-run dynamics between monetary policy instruments (monetary policy rate, cash reserve ratio, liquidity ratio, and broad money supply) and development finance inflows, controlling for inflation and GDP growth. Results reveal striking asymmetries. FDI is sensitive to liquidity constraints, with the cash reserve ratio exerting a weak negative effect, while money supply expansion enhances investor confidence. COVID-19 challenged mobility, redefining crisis navigation and resilience. A modified Challenge Metamorphosis Model (CMM) is proposed to understand crisis navigating process in tourism business resilience-building. A pragmatic mixed-method design, involving 158 tourism-business respondents, multiple regions, interviews, and observation during June–November 2020, was applied. Impacts, challenges, opportunities, varied business responses and outcomes were mirrored. Immediate reactive closure and booking cancellation responses were distinguished from proactive adaptive business continuity measures with low visitors, postponement, few bookings and negotiable employment flexibility. Presidential aspirants in the United States engage in debates during campaigns as a medium of enlightening the electorate. Existing studies on the American presidential debates have largely focused on politeness, rhetoric, syntax, and gender, with little attention to the strategies employed to construct the self and opponent(s). Therefore, this research investigates the discourse representation in the presidential debates between Trump and Biden using van Dijk’s socio-cognitive model of critical discourse analysis. Women’s political participation in the Middle East remains shaped by the complex interaction of cultural norms, religious interpretations, and democratic reform processes. While existing scholarship has examined these factors extensively, limited attention has been devoted to explaining why women’s political participation varies across states with broadly similar socio-cultural and religious contexts. This study addresses this gap through a qualitative comparative analysis of Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, and Iran. Guided by Feminist Institutionalism and Political Opportunity Structure theory, the study draws on secondary data from peer-reviewed literature, legal documents, and policy reports. The Efficiency-Profitability Paradox: A Comparative Analysis Of Digital And Conventional Customer Acquisition In Islamic Banking, Andra Prayudha

This study investigates the strategic dilemma faced by banking institutions in allocating resources between digital and conventional customer acquisition channels. Using a unique panel dataset from 38 Islamic bank branches, we analyze the comparative effectiveness of digital (Online Onboarding) and conventional (Payroll and Branch Registration) strategies on branch-level financial performance. Our findings reveal a significant efficiency-profitability paradox: a digital-dominant strategic orientation is associated with superior operational efficiency but does not translate into higher profitability. Furthermore, our analysis uncovers a critical nuance in conventional strategies through the discovery of inconsistent mediation: the institutional Payroll channel, while directly boosting margins, simultaneously erodes …

Mangroves provide coastal communities with a multitude of ecosystem services. This is the case in Joal-Fadiouth. A study on its mangrove dynamics revealed a decline in area between 1974 and 2004, followed by a gradual trend after it acquired Marine Protected Area (MPA) status in 2004. Given the importance of this mangrove, the research focused on analyzing its evolution associated with rainfall and temperature variability. Foreign language learning anxiety remains a critical affective variable influencing learners’ performance in English as a foreign language (EFL) classrooms. This study examined the association between translanguaging as a pedagogical strategy and foreign language anxiety among Saudi university students. Adopting a quantitative descriptive-correlational design, data were collected from 200 undergraduate EFL students using a structured questionnaire. Objective: Conclude the prevalence of multidrug-resistant E. coli and K. pneumoniae isolates in urine samples from immunocompromised patients with UTIs. Intraductal carcinoma (IDC) of the salivary gland is an uncommon epithelial neoplasm characterized by a predominantly intraductal or intracystic proliferation rimmed by a myoepithelial cell layer. Advances in molecular profiling have revealed recurrent gene fusions in IDC, most frequently involving RET, although fusions implicating other kinase genes have also been described. Among these, ALK rearrangements are rare and remain poorly characterized. Herein, we report a case of oncocytic IDC of the parotid gland harboring a STRN::ALK fusion, further expanding the molecular landscape of this tumor. This study investigated whether practicing self-compassion and embracing one's authentic self could protect graduate students from burnout. Researchers also empirically examined the mediating effect of authenticity in the relationship between self-compassion and burnout. A total of 318 master's degree students in a helping profession completed surveys assessing their levels of self-compassion, authenticity, and burnout. Results found that graduate students with higher levels of self-compassion and authenticity tended to have lower levels of burnout. Additionally, authenticity mediated the relationship between self-compassion and burnout. The findings suggest that practicing self-compassion and embracing one's authentic self may lead to lower levels of burnout …

This study investigates the post-graduation career planning preferences, influencing factors, and expectations of 138 students enrolled in maritime education programs at İskenderun Technical University in Türkiye, using a structured survey administered to students from the Maritime Technologies Vocational School to examine career intentions, sectoral awareness, salary expectations, and perceptions of institutional support. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and non-parametric tests (Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis). The findings indicate that 41.3% of students reported no specific sector preference, while 26.1% preferred the public sector, 21.0% the private sector, and 11.6% were undecided.
