The present disclosure provides a method and system for processing micropayments to tackle the inefficiencies and high costs involved in it. The method involves creating Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) for each individual or user that joins the network. Blockchain is the underlying technology for the creation of DAOs. Thereafter, the DAO issues a number of tokens for the user for performing payment transactions. Each token represents a certain value of assets or services. This paper delves into the concept of “fetal personhood” and dissects how lawmakers systematically deploy rhetorical agency in policy to draw demarcating lines between demographic groups in post-Roe America. After abortion was legalized in 1973, the number of women opting for abortion rose significantly. Even after legalization, however, underrepresented and marginalized women struggled to access safe and high-quality healthcare, and many of them risked self-induced abortions. Since Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022, women with financial affluence can still travel to states where abortion is not banned to access their reproductive rights; however, women with low income may not …

This article critically examines the lives of the three women in the television film If These Walls Could Talk (Cher & Savoca, 1996). The three protagonists, all White American women, live in the same house and are all faced with the decision of whether to terminate their unplanned, unwanted pregnancies in 1952, 1974, and 1996. Notably, three Black women were included as minor characters in the film. These foundational questions guide this film analysis: (1) What were the societal norms for US women who considered either abortion or giving birth in 1952, 1974, and 1996? This essay recontextualizes United States Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s views on abortion within a broader system of early modern (c. 1450-1700) reproductive knowledge. By focusing on printed medical texts as well as manuscript books that offer recipes for medicines to treat reproductive issues, the essay contends that Alito’s Majority Opinion, which relies on the legal scholar Sir Matthew Hale in the case of Dobbs V. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, leaves out a breadth of voices, specifically those of women. This article examines the neglected war crimes trials of Holocaust perpetrators that took place at the People's Tribunal in early postwar Romania, focusing especially on the first trial (the “Macici group”). The article shows that in spite of the political interferences by the new pro-communist regime and the USSR, the Macici group trial in particular, and the first war crimes trials in general, were not Stalinist show trials or fake trials and they sentenced real war criminals and accurately captured Romania's participation in the Holocaust. Lethal autonomous weapons systems (LAWS), such as drones and autonomous missile systems, are no longer a theoretical concern. Indeed, they are finding their way onto the battlefield. Amid growing international concern, States have articulated a range of positions on how LAWS should be governed, ranging from relying on existing international law(traditionalists), to a legal ban on LAWS (prohibitionists), to a new treaty that would ban certain uses and regulate others to “clarify and strengthen existing law” (dualists). Future space-based laser interferometric detectors, such as the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA), will be able to detect gravitational waves (GWs) generated during the inspiral phase of stellar-mass binary black holes (SmBBHs). These detections contain a wealth of important information concerning astrophysical formation channels and fundamental physics constraints. However, the detection and characterization of GWs from SmBBHs poses a formidable data analysis challenge, arising from the large number of wave cycles that make the search extremely sensitive to mismatches in signal and template parameters in a likelihood-based approach. Ilex cornuta (I. cornuta) is a traditional Chinese medicine that is rich in various secondary metabolites with pharmacological activities, among which triterpenoid saponins are one of the main active components. Squalene epoxidase (SE) is a key regulatory enzyme in the biosynthesis of triterpenoids. In this study, we isolated a squalene epoxidase (IcSE1) from I. cornuta and analyzed its molecular characteristics and functions. The results indicated that the total length of the IcSE1 sequence was 1942 bp, which includes a 1638 bp open reading frame (ORF) that encodes 545 amino acids. Background

South Korea achieved universal health coverage (UHC) through the National Health Insurance (NHI). However, humanitarian sojourners under temporary stay permits were initially excluded. Alongside recommendations from the National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK), the 2019 Amendment of the NHI Act expanded eligibility of the NHI. While this marked significant progress toward greater universality in health care, it also led to unintended consequences for humanitarian sojourners.

Methods

Three-dimensional (3D) printing is implemented to introduce randomness into systems and devices that are being manufactured. 3D printed physically unclonable wireless systems (PUWS) provide flexibility in system package complexity, number of physically unclonable function (PUF) based security measures/types, and customization of the PUF parameters. Using flexibility and economics of 3D printing, PUWS can combine multiple PUF measures in a 3D package for cryptographic secret keys and introduce PUFs at the physical layer of the communication system. Septoria tritici blotch (STB), caused by Zymoseptoria tritici, poses a significant threat to global wheat production, particularly in Türkiye. Resistance breeding is the most sustainable and effective disease control method. Molecular markers, especially simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers are extensively employed in wheat breeding to enhance the efficacy. The primary objective of this study was to identify Stb resistance genes among 143 historical registered Turkish bread wheat genotypes released as commercial cultivars between 1963 to 2014, using 16 closely linked SSR markers. Despite the existence of a highly effective and safe vaccine against human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, vaccination rates remain low. The most prevalent HPV-associated malignancy in the United States is oropharyngeal cancer, but otolaryngology practitioners do not offer the HPV vaccine, and their feelings around offering HPV vaccination have not been evaluated. A 43-question survey, including a twelve-question knowledge quiz, was sent to otolaryngology practitioners at seven academic institutions. Twelve questions comprised a knowledge quiz testing practitioner understanding of HPV, while the remainder of the questions evaluated comfort with and likelihood of recommending vaccination. Platelets, traditionally known for their role in hemostasis, have emerged as key players in immune response and inflammation. Sepsis, a life-threatening condition characterized by systemic inflammation, often presents with thrombocytopenia, which at times, can be significant. Platelets contribute to the inflammatory response by interacting with leukocytes, endothelial cells, and the innate immune system. However, excessive platelet activation and consumption can lead to thrombocytopenia and exacerbate the severity of sepsis. Understanding the multifaceted roles of platelets in sepsis is crucial for developing effective therapeutic strategies. Targeting platelet-mediated inflammatory responses and promoting platelet production may offer potential avenues for improving outcomes in …

We develop an economic framework to analyze the optimal pricing and product design of Large Language Models (LLM). Our framework captures several key features of LLMs: variable operational costs of processing input and output tokens; the ability to customize models through fine-tuning; and high-dimensional user heterogeneity in terms of task requirements and error sensitivity. In our model, a monopolistic seller offers multiple versions of LLMs through a menu of products. The optimal pricing structure depends on whether token allocation across tasks is contractible and whether users face scale constraints.
