This Essay is written to address a series of questions encompassing name, image, and likeness (NIL) opportunities available to collegiate athletes in sports where the potential is high for head and other career-ending injuries. Sports performance can produce significant economic value through NIL. Decisions made by team physicians, athletic trainers, or other healthcare professionals may affect a collegiate athlete's potential for financial gains expected through NIL. These physicians, athletic trainers, and other healthcare professionals will have to consider whether they could be held personally liable for health care-related decisions affecting financial gains collegiate athletes could potentially experience from NIL.

In National Institute of Family & Life Advocates v. Becerra, the Supreme Court held that there was no First Amendment exception for professional speech, but noted there remained an exception for speech incidental to professional conduct. The United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit are split on the nature of this exemption, namely, whether it includes legislation banning conversion therapy for minors when said therapy consists of only speech. Specifically, this study aims to assess the relationships between the components of leadership talent management, namely development, retention, succession, and motivation, and their roles in achieving strategic advantages. This paper proposes a hybrid approach to dollar exchange rate forecasting, wherein both types of forecasting models-linear and non-linear models-have been incorporated to improve the efficiency of predictions. The work essentially combined MISO ARX model with GARCH-X models within MISO ARX framework to enhance the data. These three estimation techniques, namely IV4, RELS-HF, and RELS-SE, could optimize the modeling performance of the MISO ARX model, whereas Quasi Maximum Likelihood Estimation (QMLE) was applied for GARCH-X models. An evaluation metric such as the Mean Absolute Error (MAE) and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) was used for the comparison between model performances. …

Engagement occurs both at the beginning and throughout every stage of social work practice with client systems. Despite its inherent and almost synonymous nature with social work practice, the profession has found it challenging to establish a theoretical conceptualization of engagement in social work or a definition of engagement in social work.

Concerns over presidential use of federal prosecution as a political weapon and the overall independence of the Department of Justice have increased in recent years. While most scholarship exploring the potential for political prosecution has focused on the legal and political forces that influence prosecutorial discretion, few studies have identified the varying ways that federal prosecutors obtain their jobs or how those processes affect who serves as U.S. Attorney. This is a consequential oversight, as U.S. Attorney appointments provide an informative case study of the legal frameworks, historical conventions, and politics that influence presidential appointments more generally.

Congress’s chosen remedy for the proliferation of online revenge porn has a design flaw. The Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act, codified in 15 U.S.C. § 6851, provides a civil right, enforceable in federal court, to victims of nonconsensual pornography. However, exceptions for matters within the “public concern,” written into the statute with the First Amendment in mind, weaken the force of the Act and threaten to make its proscriptions a nullity. This Note calls on Congress to narrow the public concern exception in the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act to include only matters of political significance. Such an amendment will …

In constitutional liberties cases, the Supreme Court has tried to reduce balancing, understood loosely to mean determining a right’s contours based on sweeping political-moral considerations, not just text and history. It fears that today’s balancing would displace a balance struck by the Founders. Balancing is indeed problematic—but this campaign to end it is bound to fail. Though avoidable for many constitutional rights, balancing is inevitable for general liberties like religion, the Second Amendment, and speech. This inevitability arises not from gaps in text or history but from these liberties’ special role.

Especially since 2017, the Roberts Court has been imposing a new regime onto American public law. The new regime is paring back the authority of expert agencies to implement their delegated responsibilities, reducing the power of Congress to make long-term delegations while enhancing the power of the states and the President (and the U.S. Supreme Court itself), protecting and encouraging expression of religious values in public and commercial fora, limiting women’s rights to reproductive choice, and reducing the capacity of state and private institutions to inculcate diversity and inclusion.

Operation Condor (Condor) was a transnational terror network set up by six military dictatorships in South America with the support of the United States’ Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in order to kill and silence dissidents in the nineteen seventies. Research on Condor tends to focus on the individual dictatorships involved; the relationship between those dictatorships and the United States has been comparatively understudied. Unlike in other Cold War battlegrounds, the human rights violations committed by the Condor dictatorships caused Congress to take action, investigate the CIA, and tie human rights requirements to U.S. foreign assistance to the region.

The Government of Ethiopia’s Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS) officials, various government ministry delegates, representatives from International and national Non-Governmental Organisations, UN bodies, and various delivery partners, came together for a Data to Action (D2A) workshop in Addis Ababa from November 19th to 21st, 2024. During this workshop, participants prioritized violence prevention and response activities, directly informed by the HVACS data. Shame is a self-conscious emotion that has been referred to as both a master and a hidden emotion. Sociological and psychological researchers have neglected shame, although it has seen a resurgence in the past 20 years as a topic for research. Shame heightens during adolescence, a transitional period that bridges childhood and adulthood and involves psychological, social, physiological, and neurobiological changes. Adolescent substance use leads to academic, health and mental health, peer, and family difficulties.
