ABSTRACT A HISTORICAL-DISCOURSE POLICY ANALYSIS OF ARKANSAS’ EDUCATIONAL POLICIES: A POST-MARXIST, GRAMSCIAN PERSPECTIVE Matti Izora Ibrahim Few studies have explored the macro-level factors that influence education. This research examines how political forces shaping K-12 education in Arkansas connect to broader global political trends. Grounded in a post-Marxist, Gramscian framework, the research employs a Discourse-Historical Approach (Wodak, 2001) to examine the rhetorical construction of the language in Arkansas Act 327 (2023), commonly known as the LEARNS Act, and Executive Order EO 23-05, the executive order which preceded it. The Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas holds a significant place in Texas history. Facing conflicts with other tribes and experiencing broken treaties with the United States government, the Kickapoo slowly migrated from the Great Lakes region in the 16th century to the Midwest, then to the South, and into northern Mexico. Along the way, the Kickapoo encountered the French, British, Spanish, Americans, Texans, and Mexicans. They became involved in historical events such as the French and Indian War, the Battle of Tippecanoe, the War of 1812, the Battle Creek Massacre of 1838, and the Battle of Dove Creek of 1865. …

Perhaps, this is why most studies of World War II, popular history and academic history alike, leave out the people of Greece. They were simply fighting for their country, not the world. They simply did not know—or did not care—about the wider war all around them. The Impact Of Cattle Grazing On Water Quality In Stoner Creek, Bourbon County, Ky., Logan Stigall

This study aims to identify the impact of cattle grazing on the water quality of Stoner Creek, located in North Middletown, KY. Cattle grazing can impact water quality in numerous ways. In this study, water quality was examined using the following parameters: water temperature (°C), pH (SU), dissolved oxygen (mg/L), conductivity (μS/cm), and Escherichia coli (E. coli) colonies per 100 mL of water. Results show that Site 3 (Cattle access point) had the greatest average conductivity at 465 μS/cm. Sites 3 and 4 showed the highest turbidity. There was a strong positive correlation (r²=0.32, p=0.02) between conductivity and …

Using the Marshall Islands as a comparative case study, this research connects the legacies of military occupation and ecological degradation to contemporary issues such as climate-driven disasters and systemic inequality. Advances in artificial intelligence are expanding the possibilities of robots. Indeed, robots are now engaging in numerous activities previously thought to require human cognition, such as driving cars and diagnosing diseases. Scholars have published numerous articles examining the intersection of law and robots across myriad fields. However, legal scholarship has yet to explore the relationship between robots and federal Indian law. This is a significant oversight because there are 574 federally recognized tribes and over fifty-six million acres of Indian country. Thus, legal issues involving tribes and robots are inevitable. This Note builds on the Supreme Court’s reasoning in Carpenter v. United States, suggesting that its technology-specific approach may be insufficiently elastic to address the complexities of modern data privacy. Through an analysis of several exemplars, this Note advocates for a private ordering framework—where data collectors respond to consumer expectations of privacy through self-regulating practices—as a more adaptive and effective means of safeguarding digital privacy. This approach preserves the third-party doctrine while reducing the burden on courts to draw technological boundaries in a rapidly evolving digital environment.

We introduce a robotic system designed to function as a lightweight, modular, and reconfigurable structure on the Moon. This robust system consists of truss-like robotic triangles, each formed by a continuous inflated fabric tube routed through two robotic roller units and a connecting unit. When deflated, these triangles can be compacted to roughly the volume of the roller units, offering an advantageous stowed-to-deployed volume ratio of 1 to 6.24. Upon inflation, the roller units pinch the tubes, creating corners by reducing the bending stiffness of the tube. Once fully deployed, electric motors move the robotic roller units along the tube, …

This Note explores the status of contemporary fan fiction under United States copyright law. It begins by tracing the historical development of fan fiction and then examines fan fiction’s legal treatment in the internet age, with a focus on the potential application of the fair use doctrine. It surveys relevant case law and considers the notable absence of litigation by content creators against fan fiction authors. Finally, it offers a number of possible explanations for this reluctance to pursue legal action.

This dissertation focuses on race as a critical, yet largely unaddressed, topic in Catholic theological anthropology. In Catholic colleges and universities that are recognized as members of the Cardinal Newman Society, theological concerns about race are deemed irrelevant for theological education in the faith and are altogether absent from the theology of the human person. As a result, this collection of institutions treats race as a specialty within pastoral theology, one that is significant to groups, but not a part of the fundamental theology of the human person. This thesis investigates the posthumous installation of Marcel Duchamp, Étant donnés, as a test case for how particularly historically situated artworks may or may not change over time. It begins with an overview of Duchamp’s biography, and his own theories of art’s relationship to temporality (which influenced the piece’s construction). It then moves through contrasting accounts of aesthetic time from Adorno and Robert Smithson. The critical juncture of slavery abolition in Cuba was marked by independency uprisings, and imperial re-articulations. Within this context, thousands of formerly enslaved men and women coped with renewed forms of coercion, inscribed in the intersection of race and gender. This article focuses on the resourceful use of the law by formerly enslaved women (renamed patrocinadas in 1880) to liberate themselves from the forced apprenticeship known as patronato, enforced alongside the abolition law. In Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo, the Supreme Court discarded the four decades old Chevron deference regime and circumscribed the authority of federal agencies to choose among multiple interpretations of ambiguous statutes. In justifying its ruling, the Loper Bright majority argued that Chevron deference had generated unnecessary regulatory uncertainty by allowing agencies to switch from one interpretation of an ambiguous statute to another. In this respect, Loper Bright marks a move toward temporal uniformity in federal law: Once the courts recognize a certain reading of a statute as “best,” that reading will reign under Loper Bright unless and until Congress …

For over a decade, the Supreme Court has upended executive-branch structures that insulated administrative agencies from the White House. Judges and scholars justify this project in part by claiming that presidential control over administration boosts agencies’ accountability to the American people. Yet, despite the importance of “the people” as this endeavor’s asserted beneficiaries, public attitudes concerning this foundational claim are unknown. In For the Marginalized: A Purposeful Path to Social Work, I reflect on the journey that led me from education into social work, grounded in a commitment to advocacy, ethical practice, and systemic change. Using my experiences in a therapeutic day-treatment school setting, I integrated trauma-informed, culturally responsive approaches with evidence-based practice to support marginalized students navigating mental health challenges, systemic barriers, and educational inequities.
