A 13.56 MHz, planar coil, inductively coupled plasma reactor was experimentally and theoretically characterized; with emphasis on the effects of neutral gas heating on the distribution of the H mode magnetic fields of the source coil and the E-H mode transition characteristics of the discharge. The radially resolved electron density, ne, electron temperature, Te and electron energy distribution function (EEDF) were measured using a Langmuir probe at different axial distances above the dielectric plate for 0.03, 0.07 and 0.2 mbar argon pressures. The fresh concrete properties and mechanical properties of oil palm shell concrete (OPSC) containing palm oil fuel ash (POFA) as partial cement replacement have been evaluated. The effects of POFA replacement levels of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% & 25% under different curing regimes, namely air curing, full water curing and initial water curing were investigated. For the evaluation of fresh concrete properties various test like slump, vebe second, compaction factor and wet density test were performed. The volume of fluid with the continuum surface force (VOF-CSF) method has been used in the current numerical work to investigate the bubble formation and the bubble shape in a bubble column. The shape of the bubble has been tracked by using the piecewise linear interface calculation (PLIC). The effect of orifice sizes ranging from 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm on the bubble formation stages (i.e., expansion, elongation and pinch off), bubble contact angle, departure diameter, time and shape of bubble was investigated under a constant inlet velocity (0.2 m/s) boundary condition. Biodiesel is currently in regular use as an alternative fuel over conventional petroleum diesel. However, corrosion of automotive materials is one of the concerns related to biodiesel compatibility issues. The present study aims to investigate the effects of Tertbutylamine and Benzotriazole additive addition on the corrosion behavior of low carbon steel S45C material in different biodiesel blends. Static immersion tests in biodiesel conducted for 1440 hours on solution B0, B20, B50 and B100 without the presence of corrosion inhibitors. The Irrelevance Of Prisoner Fault For Excessively Delayed Executions, Russell L. Christopher

Are decades-long delays between sentencing and execution immune from Eighth Amendment violation because they are self-inflicted by prisoners, or is such prisoner fault for delays simply irrelevant to whether a state-imposed punishment is cruel and unusual? Typically finding delay to be the state’s responsibility, Justices Breyer and Stevens argue that execution following upwards of forty years of death row incarceration is unconstitutional. We study legal and policy issues surrounding crypto currencies, such as Bitcoin, and how those issues interact with technical design options. With an interdisciplinary team, we consider in depth a variety of issues surrounding law, policy, and crypto currencies—such as the physical location where a crypto currency’s value exists for jurisdictional and other purposes, the regulation of anonymous or pseudonymous currencies, and challenges as virtual currency protocols and laws evolve. We reflect on how different technical directions may interact with the relevant laws and policies, raising key issues for both policy experts and technologists.

The burning of an isolated leaf-like element was computationally investigated in a series of studies, motivated by recent burning experiments performed on live leaves of manzanita (Arctostaphylos glandulosa). In this study, the relative impor- tance of heating modes, effect of fuel moisture content on pyrolysis and combustion of live fuels is explored in stages. A preliminary study was conducted on a simpli- fied one-dimensional configuration, using Gpyro. The heating sources were modeled through convection and/or radiation as boundary conditions. Results showed that the increase in radiative source temperature substantially affects ignition time; how- ever, it has marginal influence on mass …
