The study of the intricate molecular mechanisms behind the pathology of neurodegenerative diseases has become a primary research area in the past decades. The major branches of these studies involve both disease progression and disease pathogenesis, in which neuroscientists have studied, and continue to study, the role that mitochondrial dysfunction, aberrant protein aggregation (like Tau), and immune cell reactions have on these. However, more recent studies have shined light to the fact that these three pathological features are not independent from one another and that their synchronous contributions may be the ultimate driver of neurodegeneration. Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the world’s leading cause of dementia, characterized by progressive atrophy of the hippocampal and cortical brain regions, synapse damage and loss, and a buildup of senile plaques and neurofibrillary tangles composed of β-amyloid peptides and hyperphosphorylated tau, respectively. While age is the most significant risk factor for developing AD, apolipoprotein E4 (APOE4) is the strongest genetic risk factor for AD. Although it is known that APOE4 influences tau pathology, the molecular mechanisms by which APOE4 drives AD pathogenesis and progression remain unclear. Following the decade after K-12 public education funding cuts brought on by the Great Recession, some states are addressing these funding cuts with changes to their funding formulas. This comparative case study identifies trends of significant changes in education funding formulas since the end of the Great Recession in states with majority Republican legislatures—red states. The states analyzed in this study are Texas, Tennessee, and Mississippi. The research analyzes what caused the states to change their education funding formulas as well as trends regarding the changes of the actual education funding formula. The violent events of January 6, 2021 explicitly demonstrated the widening ideological gap in the United States, as citizens and members of Congress both questioned the results of the 2020 election. This research paper seeks to understand if this increasing ideological extremity might manifest itself as questioning the legitimacy of an election among members of Congress. Researchers across decades have studied the sort of effects that increasing ideological extremity can have on voters; however, I could not find much research on how it might affect members of Congress. As the number of English Language Learners (ELLs) in Mississippi’s public schools continues to rise, the state’s current systems of support have been lagging. This thesis examines how English Language Learners (ELLs) are supported in three states with distinct policies and programs: California, Texas, and Arizona. Then, these approaches are compared to the current situation in Mississippi. Using public education policies, state department guidelines, and existing research on instructional models, the study highlights key differences in program options, teacher preparation, and graduation outcomes in each state. An Adaptation Of Nonlinear Aerodynamic Models For Non-Traditional Control Effectors, Christian R. Bolander, Douglas F. Hunsaker

This paper presents the development of a novel aerodynamic model tailored for the Bio-Inspired Rotating Empennage (BIRE), a non-traditional fixed-wing aircraft empennage inspired by avian flight. The BIRE replaces the conventional vertical stabilizer with an extra degree of freedom for the horizontal stabilizer, which is allowed to rotate about the body-fixed x axis. This empennage is similar to the tail of a bird, and allows control of both longitudinal and lateral moments. However, such a design introduces complex nonlinear longitudinal and lateral aerodynamic interactions, not typically accounted for in most fixed-wing aircraft aerodynamic models below stall. Framed through Apocalyptic Education, the work begins at the end, the inevitable collapse of western schooling and broader state systems it supports, to foreground fugitivity as essential to Black autonomy. The seminar proved to be groundbreaking and attractive as it has spread to more than 500 schools within the United States and ten institutions abroad. Much of the curriculum ’ s early success is indebted to the leadership from Dr. Kassie Freeman of Columbia University ’ s Teachers College. The Caddisflies (Trichoptera) Of An Undisturbed Lower Michigan Habitat, David C. Houghton

The caddisfly assemblages of small streams, medium floodplain and forested rivers, and lakes within the Black River Ranch, a relatively undisturbed habitat in northern Lower Michigan, were sampled during 2014–2015 using ultraviolet light traps to establish a reference assemblage for the caddisflies of the region. A total of 117 species were collected including three—Hydroptila amoena Ross, H. novicola Blickle and Morse, and H. quinola Ross—not previously reported from Michigan. All species and their habitat affinities are reported herein. Individual sampling sites all had high levels of species richness compared to similar habitat types throughout Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, and included …

Senegalese women’s socio-cultural and economic status has always been shaped by local customs, religion, and gender structures. During the colonial period, against the backdrop of the opportunity to have a Western education, economic changes and extremely rapid urbanization encouraged Senegalese women to join the political arena in supporting various male political leaders. This trend continued during the post-colonial period, leading to the election of female parliamentarians and women holding high governmental positions in the 1960s and 1970s. This paper examines the perception of the effectiveness of the healthcare system in Nigeria by citizens and residents of the country. It argues that the Nigerian government needs to adopt a more pragmatic healthcare policy, one that could be more effectively implemented. Unlike the old practice of the Ministry of Health, an innovative approach to healthcare delivery should involve benchmarks, strategic doing, and coordination of priorities, as well as partnerships with various stakeholders from the private sector, including nongovernmental organizations and foreign investors.
