Non-Overlapping Magisteria Vs. Unity In Knowledge, Kenneth E. Caviness Phd
The Journal of Biblical Foundations of Faith and Learning
One philosophical option available to the scientist who believes in God is non-overlapping magisteria (NOMA): treating the domains of science and faith as separate, with science and logic used for the empirical realm (fact and theory) and religion for questions of morality and ultimate meaning. At first glance this seems better than an inconsistent or disjoint worldview, which may require accepting mutually inconsistent “truths” or believing one thing in church and another during the rest of the week. In this paper, arguments for and against NOMA are reviewed, and note made of the fractured and/or illogical thinking that it requires. …

The dominant opinion expressed by the scientific community is that life on earth as we observe it today evolved over millions of years from more primitive organisms. Its adherents insist that naturalist forces drive this process, and it is unaided by any form of intelligent oversight. In contrast, a biblical worldview upholds the Bible’s account of a six-day special creation by an all-powerful Creator. The competition between these two worldviews appears unresolvable. Assessing The Tax Communications Of E-Commerce Vendors, Part Ii, David Gamage

This article presents the second part of a research project on the tax communications of e-commerce vendors. It details the results of a behavioral experiment designed to test how different representations of sales and use tax obligations influence consumer purchasing decisions. The study finds that potentially misleading indicators, such as "No Tax" or "$0 of Tax," significantly increase the likelihood that consumers will purchase from vendors who do not collect sales tax. Compared to vendors who provide accurate information about potential use tax liabilities, consumers were substantially more likely to choose a vendor displaying a "No Tax" message. These findings …

Gendered Expectations: Do Voters Reward Women For Supporting Women's Interests?, Nichole M. Bauer, Anna Gunderson, Jeong Hyun Kim, Elizabeth Lane, Belinda Davis, Kathleen Searles

Are women legislators punished for not supporting women's substantive policy interests? We test these gendered expectations. We marshal an original content analysis of cable news coverage and two survey experiments testing voters' assessment of hypothetical legislators on the issues of abortion and equal pay. We find that voters rate both women and men legislators positively for supporting women's issues and negatively evaluate legislators of both genders when they do not support women's interests. We also find that women voters negatively evaluate women legislators who act against women's interests at a greater rate than men voters. While we do not find …

Disrupting And Facilitating: The Dual Role Of Generative Ai In Reshaping Power, Engagement, And Collaboration Within Organizations, Zain Khalid Baz Haddadin

This study explores how Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is reshaping power, trust, engagement, and collaboration in communication-focused workplaces. Guided by a constructivist lens and informed by change management theory, it draws on eight semi-structured interviews and a survey of 40 professionals across agency, corporate, and academic roles. Findings reveal that GenAI does not fully flatten hierarchies, it subtly thins them, enabling junior staff to contribute to strategic conversations earlier while decision rights remain centralized. Trust is highly contextual, shaped by task sensitivity, prompt clarity, and user confidence. GenAI’s impact on engagement was mixed: some participants felt energized; others described increased …

In the 2010s, the Bonnet Carré Spillway (BCS) in southeastern Louisiana, U.S.A., experienced an unprecedented uptick in openings to mitigate the possibility of flooding, including a record double-opening in 2019. Both the environmental consequences of BCS openings associated with nutrients that run from the Mississippi River into Lake Pontchartrain and the synoptic-scale meteorological conditions that necessitate these openings are poorly understood. With the unexpectedly frequent openings in recent years and the ever-present threat of climate change, it is vital to consider the future shift of synoptic-scale climate patterns and how it can relate to BCS openings.
