Karcı Fractional Artificial Neural Networks (Karcıfann): A New Artificial Neural Networks Model Without Learning Rate And Its Problems, Meral Karakurt, Hülya Saygili, Ali̇ Karci
Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
The learning rate parameter used in classical artificial neural networks (ANNs) designed with stochastic gradient descent causes problems such as failure to learn, getting stuck in local minima, memorization, and long training times (divergence problem). To address these issues, this paper proposes a novel ANN method that uses a fractional derivative instead of Newton’s derivative. This method is referred to as Karcı fractional ANN (KarcıFANN). In classical ANNs, the weight update is done by assigning the same constant value to the learning rate in each iteration or for a set number of iterations. Grief and bereavement are under researched topics within Latino populations, and even more so among Latino college students. Much of the existing literature is also focused on quantitative studies that are said to provide higher quality evidence than qualitative studies, with very few being conducted on college campuses. Garcini et al published a systemic review in 2021 on bereavement among widowed Latinos in which most studies were conducted using quantitative methods. Further, only 4 of the 19 studies analyzed were based solely on Latino communities. Falzarano et al. also published a literature synthesis in 2022 which focused on the broader …

When Mona Murillo tried to assert her rights to be free from sex discrimination and physical threats from prison officials at Salinas Valley State Prison (SVSP), those officials conspired to punish her and obstruct her efforts to remedy these harms. Murillo is a transgender woman who, while incarcerated at SVSP, repeatedly complained about unsafe working conditions (created and maintained because of her sex) and sex-based harassment perpetrated by Defendants Lopez, Garcia, Lepe, and Castillo. In return, Murillo was subjected to threats, fabricated disciplinary charges, and deliberate efforts to deny her access to necessary work gear by these same Defendants and …

Academic readiness, measurable growth, and reflective transferable knowledge are hallmarks of a successful music classroom. Yet sound pedagogical and curricular practices are the catalyst for achieving this success. Across the U.S., music programs are thriving in settings where these themes coalesce, save for one: the early childhood music program. At present, no comprehensive music program frameworks exist for this learning environment. Thus, this study aims to identify gaps in early childhood music education literature and national pedagogical and curricular practices, determine why formal music instruction is deficient for this demographic, and examine ways to address this learning community’s needs. This transcendental phenomenological study explored the frequent themes identified by chaplains while supporting service members and veterans (SM/V) from diverse Christian denominations, such as Catholics, Protestants, and other Christian groups, who have suffered a moral injury. I described the lived experience of chaplains using in-depth surveys as part of a phenomenological approach to data collection. In the qualitative interview, the interest is hearing the chaplains’ thoughts on the nature and manifestations of moral injury in chaplaincy contexts. The study explored chaplains’ observations concerning what service members and veterans have in common when they experience moral injury. This qualitative research approach …

This qualitative case study looks at how social media is used in the social media process by both current high school athletes and college coaches to determine if athletes are properly presenting themselves to create recruiting opportunities. The study was built on a foundation of impression management theory and the usage of social media as a frontstage. Utilizing a semi-structured format, six high school athletes and six college coaches were interviewed, and thirteen themes were identified through thematic analysis. The Appellate Term affirmed the Civil Court's order denying the tenant's motion to dismiss or for summary judgment and granting the landlord's cross-motion to amend the petition in a licensee holdover proceeding. Key legal points included that a trust's trustee is the proper party to maintain an action, and amendment to substitute the trustee is appropriate where, as here, the trustee signed relevant documents and no prejudice was shown. The court also found the conspicuous-place service of the predicate notice and petition was proper, supported by three attempts at different times. This work describes a microstrip log-periodic dipole array (MLPDA) antenna that uses metamaterials and operates across the whole Ka-band. The suggested MLPDA antenna layout provides a wide bandwidth with fewer dipole elements than traditional MLPDA antennas while maintaining the same resonance frequencies. To reduce size while covering a wide operational spectrum, the antenna design includes bending dipoles as radiating elements, as well as an incomplete ground plane. This research study focused on emotional intelligence and wisdom in Christian leaders. This empirical study assessed if leaders who have a high measurement of emotional intelligence are also wise leaders according to the wisdom measurement scale. This correlational research study sought to determine the correlation between wisdom and emotional intelligence and if age was a moderating factor. This qualitative study investigated the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on development and examines how resilience shapes adult outcomes. Early life experiences significantly influence an individual's lifelong development, with childhood experiences playing a particularly crucial role. Adverse childhood experiences, which encompass abuse, neglect, and household dysfunction, are recognized as a major public health concern due to their association with health disparities and psychosocial issues in various aspects of life, including substance use, relationships, education, and employment. This quantitative causal-comparative study examines the influence of parental satisfaction on school choice, parental involvement, and socioeconomic status in suburban, rural, and urban elementary schools. The Parent Involvement Satisfaction Survey (PISS) and the Parenting Satisfaction Scale (PSS) were administered to a purposive sample of parents (N = 126) from Texas public elementary schools through online surveys. The primary objective was to explore how parental satisfaction varies by community type (suburban, rural, or urban) and socioeconomic factors. Birgitta Birgersdotter (1302/3 – 1373) was a Swedish noblewoman who began reporting repeated heavenly visions beginning shortly after her widowhood in 1344, although tradition came to believe that she had had earlier visions as well. Her visions had a strong religious component. However, they also gave admonishment and advice to powerful leaders throughout medieval Europe, notably Sweden’s king, Magnus IV Eriksson, and his queen consort, Blanche of Namur. Another important motif of the visions was an insistence of the papacy returning to Rome from Avignon. Birgitta was not always taken seriously due to her gender. This research project intends not only to assess the levels of hope of the population of chaplains of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, but also to educate on how hope can strengthen resilience. Using Snyder's Theory of Hope (2000) provides a theoretical framework that allows a positive vision of the social and employment situation of millions of people. Using a qualitative single case study, I explored the influence of Leader-Member Exchange (LMX) quality on creativity and innovation in IT projects within Federal Government IT divisions in the Northeastern United States. I examined leadership challenges in gaining employee support for IT modernization, and how trust, communication, digital competency, and organizational culture shaped engagement. The purpose of this dissertation is to understand the transition from a traumatic career in law enforcement to resilient retirement. The investigation examines an African American Chicago police officer who served as a detective, bomb squad respondent, and hostage negotiator. Data collection and analysis are conducted according to Connelly and Clandinin narrative inquiry procedures (1990). Investigation was made regarding the familial, educational, professional, and personal experiences of Doctor Detective Melvin Hargrett. Data collection completed through guided interview transcripts was supported by photographs of his social justice artwork. Despite existing research on worship leader training and choosing music for congregational worship, a study on the perceptions of congregational worship engagement from the perspectives of worship leaders and congregants has yet to be examined. Congregational worship is formational and helps believers continue to grow in their faith by singing their praise to God with one voice and declaring the tenets of their shared faith.
