Piezo-electric devices are widely used, in static as well as dynamic applications. This invention disclosure is concerned with dynamic applications, that involve the use of a piezo stack. A piezo stack is an electro-mechanical device that converts electrical in mechanical energy or vice versa. It is characterized by one or more resonance frequencies that depend on the physical properties of the piezo stack. However, these properties depend on how the piezo stack is configured exactly. Trust plays a crucial role in human-computer interaction, particularly in scenarios involving artificial intelligence (AI) systems. This study explores the feasibility of using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) data to classify trust levels in human-AI interaction scenarios. A total of 18 participants completed an image classification task with an AI team member while their hemodynamic responses were recorded using fNIRS. Preprocessing of fNIRS data involved motion artifact removal, filtering, and normalization. Exploratory analysis identified significant associations between hemodynamic responses in the prefrontal cortex and trust levels. This essay surveys the national Pioneer Woman statue movement of the early twentieth century to set the statue in Denton into historical context while it analyzes the explosive, nationwide controversy occasioned by the 1936 Texas Centennial’s proposal to place an unclothed pioneer woman sculpture at Texas Woman’s University. It provides a Texas case study with national implications regarding how widely held genderized viewpoints in cultural memories during the 1930s influenced public art. Shocked, Florence T. Griswold opened the December 3, 1939, edition of the newspaper La Prensa to find her private correspondence published, and her international collective, the Pan American Round Tables of Texas, outwardly discredited in a scathing article. The editorial author, Alonso S. Perales, a renowned Mexican American civil rights activist, publicly disavowed Griswold, her organization, and meaningless support and allyships from Pan Americanist groups entirely. This article details the rise of inclusion politics amongst Mexican American activists and Anglo American reformers, and illuminates the tensions rooted in ideological hemispheric unity developed amidst racial subjugation in early twentieth-century Texas.

Despite a growing proliferation of algorithmic systems across the market, the U.S. lacks a comprehensive federal AI law to address the risks posed by this technology. The 2024 Supreme Court case Loper Bright v. Raimondo, which overturned the doctrine of Chevron deference, arguably complicates the passage of such a law by constraining Congress’ ability to use ambiguous statutory language as a means of reaching legislative consensus. In 2023, the Los Angeles Public Housing Authority was hit by the LockBit ransomware gang, which claimed to have exfiltrated 15 terabytes of data. In another incident, hackers impersonated a vendor and diverted nearly $1 million in housing funds from a second California agency. Public Housing Authorities (PHAs), which handle large amounts of sensitive data, are increasingly being targeted by cyberattacks. These attacks often exploit the weak cyber defenses and broad risk profiles of these relatively unsophisticated entities. With limited resources and few avenues for recovery, PHAs are left vulnerable to, and by, cyberattacks, threatening the vital services they provide. …

The rapid evolution of deepfakes and synthetic media presents unique and pressing challenges to the scope and resilience of First Amendment protections. In Fiscal Year 2024, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) conducted over 46,000 warrantless searches at international borders, raising significant privacy concerns. This article examines the constitutionality of these searches, focusing on the federal government’s use of the “border search exception” to the Fourth Amendment, which traditionally allows warrantless searches at the border to safeguard national security. Problem: Lifestyle changes can significantly improve health outcomes for children with obesity and related chronic medical conditions. Families with limited knowledge about effective ways to improve health with lifestyle changes may benefit from frequent interactions with their health care team. This team can provide additional information and support needed to make and sustain lifestyle changes. Though potentially effective, there are often barriers to this care for both providers (limited time and availability of trained axillary staff) and families (missing school and work for frequent appointments).

Influence Of Age At Harvest And Packaging Conditions On Color Stability Of Bovine Psoas Major Muscle, Xiao Lu, Xin Luo, Sulaiman K. Matarneh

This study investigated the effect of cattle age on the color stability of Psoas major steaks under different packaging conditions, including polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film packaging, high-oxygen-modified atmosphere packaging (HiOx-MAP), and carbon monoxide modified atmosphere packaging (CO-MAP), over a 14-day storage period. Steaks from old cows had a greater myoglobin content than those from young animals (p < 0.05), resulting in a darker beef color. Regardless of animal age, steaks in PVC and HiOx-MAP exhibited poor color stability during storage, as evidenced by the low color intensity and high surface metmyoglobin (MetMb; p < 0.05). These samples also exhibited a reduced MetMb reducing activity (MRA) and oxygen consumption rate (OCR) and higher 2-thiobarbituric acid reactive substance (TBARS) levels, with these effects being evident in steaks from mature cows. In contrast, steaks stored in CO-MAP had greater redness, MRA, and OCR, along with lower surface MetMb and TBARS levels (p < 0.05), contributing to the limited discoloration of steaks from both age groups. These findings suggest that while both harvest age and packaging affect the shelf stability of bovine steaks, packaging plays a more significant role. CO-MAP proved to be more effective than aerobic packaging and may mitigate age-related differences in color stability.
