Purpose of Review: Complex interactions between gut microbiota and various drugs can significantly influence drug phar-macokinetics. We examined recent in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo studies to understand how microbiota directly influences drug metabolism and absorption in order to inform future research and clinical practice. Recent Findings: Considerable progress has been made for multiple drug classes using in vitro anaerobic culturing assays and ex vivo systems with human fecal communities, as well as animal models that have provided insights into both direct microbial metabolism of drugs and indirect host-microbiota interactions via regulation of host enzymes or transporters. "Elements Don’T Mix!": Unearthing Racial Scripts And A Rhetorical Economy Of Whiteness In Disney And Pixar's Elemental, Linsay M. Cramer, Gabriel A. Cruz

Using a narrative rhetorical approach, we map how Disney and Pixar’s 2023 film, Elemental, sustains a rhetorical economy of whiteness, as theorized by Asen and Kelly, which emphasizes the degree to which rhetorical constructions of racial difference are foundational to whiteness and economic systems. We identify and critique how Elemental discursively contributes to a system of exclusivity for those within the bounds of whiteness concerning economic mobility via racial scripts. Context: We examined predation by the saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) on the flatback turtle (Natator depressus), an Australian endemic, at Cape Domett, a significant nesting site in Cambridge Gulf, northern Australia, where crocodile populations have recovered since legislative protection was implemented in the 1970s. Aims: The investigation aimed to document crocodile predation on flatback turtles across hatchling and adult life stages, assess predation strategies, and evaluate ecological impacts on this genetically distinct turtle stock. BACKGROUND: Neurogenic hypertension is chronically high blood pressure that is initiated and maintained through excessive sympathetic nervous system activity and has been associated with increased B1R (kinin B1 receptor) activation. We previously reported a central role for B1R in mediating inflammatory pathways in the development of deoxycorticosterone acetate salt hypertension. Additionally, we identified a causal relationship between B1R expression after Ang II (angiotensin II) stimulation, and that B1R can mediate the bidirectional interaction between neuroinflammation and oxidative stress. However, whether there are any interactions between AT1R (Ang II-type I receptor) and B1R, and if B1R can mediate the effects of …

In a nonpayment case, the court denied the tenant's motion to compel discovery, finding it moot because the landlord had produced the requested water tests in its opposition papers. The court also denied the tenant's separate request for further discovery, citing a prior stipulation between the parties. That stipulation mandated that the tenant withdraw her discovery motion if the landlord made a specific representation about the lack of other water quality complaints, which the landlord did. The court held that the parties are bound by the plain language of their stipulation.

In a nonpayment case, a tenant successfully moved to hold the landlord in civil contempt for violating court-ordered stipulations. The stipulations required the landlord to correct a severe cockroach infestation by implementing **integrated pest management (IPM)** as required by NYC Housing Maintenance Code § 27-2017.8. The court found that the landlord's limited pest control methods—spraying and using traps—were insufficient and constituted disobedience of a clear and unequivocal court mandate. The judge ordered a hearing to determine the tenant's compensatory damages and directed the landlord to immediately begin proper IPM practices.

Disparities in broadband access and the reliability of services are still a major issue for communities throughout the United States. Broadband information technology (IT) managers often lack effective customer retention strategies, which can seriously impact their organization's growth and profitability. This pragmatic qualitative project, grounded in Morgan and Hunt’s commitment-trust theory of relationship marketing, was to explore strategies employed by IT managers at broadband companies to retain customers and ensure financial viability and sustainability. Phenomenological investigation into atmospheres as spatial feelings has paid little attention thus far to their multifaceted temporality. Ambiances are not only situated but situational; they have an intermittent existence and modify time perception. Certain moods need time to evolve, and prolonged exposure to them may change their character. The passing of time itself generates atmospheres—ages are stereotypically associated with dominant moods, and seasonal rhythms influence well-being. Moreover, ambiances shape epochs and are socially contagious. Modulational instability (MI) is a fundamental phenomenon in the study of nonlinear dynamics, spanning diverse areas such as shallow water waves, optics, and ultracold atomic gases. In particular, the nonlinear stage of MI has recently been a topic of intense exploration and has been shown to manifest, in many cases, in the generation of dispersive shock waves (DSWs). In this Letter, we experimentally probe the MI dynamics in an immiscible two-component ultracold atomic gas with exclusively repulsive interactions, catalyzed by a hard-wall-like boundary produced by a repulsive optical barrier. This article examines the factors that led the Prabowo-Gibran pair to reach the door of victory in the 2024 elections. The twists and turns of the long process can be navigated with various smooth strategies that demonstrate the pair’s expertise in politics, ultimately leading to a one-round victory. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method, utilizing data collection techniques that include a literature study and observation. Pioneering work in bioelectrochemistry, particularly the employing of yeast cells to generate electrical current, had substantially favored the comprehension of bio electrochemical reactions. This foundational research has boosted the development of bio electrochemical systems (BES), which are significant for sustainable energy solutions. BES technologies, such as biobatteries, bio supercapacitors, and enzymatic and microbial biofuel cells, harness organic and biological systems to provide environmentally friendly alternatives for energy storage and conversion. Despite their potential, these technologies face challenges in achieving competitive energy densities and long-term stability compared to traditional accumulators and converters. This article investigates the weakening of legislative oversight by The House of (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat, DPR) during President Joko Widodo’s tenure from 2014 to 2024. Despite the expanded constitutional authority granted to the DPR following the 1998 political reforms, the quality of oversight function has diminished markedly in the Jokowi era. Drawing on theoretical and empirical literature, the article argues that this erosion is not solely the result of institutional shortcomings or inadequate reform, but is primarily driven by pervasive clientelistic relationships between the president and party elites. Commercial third-party litigation funding (“TPLF”) is not centrally regulated in the United States. It is subject to the overlapping jurisdiction of state and federal courts, state and federal legislatures, regulatory agencies, and bar associations. Legislation, regulation, and oversight of TPLF is being undertaken at each of those levels – much of it centered around the questions of when and whether TPLF should be disclosed; how to mitigate conflicts of interest created by TPLF (including the potential for claimants to lose control over their case to funders); and the identification of any foreign individuals, entities, or countries that may be providing …

Consumers often desire mementos of their experiential consumption, as reflected in common behaviors such as taking photos during a special event, purchasing souvenirs while on vacation, or keeping ticket stubs from a concert, but when do consumers desire mementos during an experience? This research examines the timing of the desire for mementos during an experience, and the conditions and motivations that prompt those memento timing decisions. We propose that the approaching end of an experience increases feelings of sadness and thus the desire for mementos at that time.
