This article investigates the M-fractional complex Ginzburg-Landau (CGL) equationby utilizing the modified simplest equation method and the modified G'G-expansion method. The CGL holds significant importance in the realm of oscillatory phenomena and optical fibers. By implementing a fractional complex transformation, the M-fractional CGL equation is transformed into an ordinary differential equation (ODE).By employing these methodologies, bright periodic solutions, periodic solutions, and dark wave solutions relevant to phenomena witnessed in nonlinear optics or plasma environments are ascertained.It is demonstrated that these methods are very powerful and efficient to solve many fractional differential equations.

Objective: Pediatric persistent diarrhea poses a severe burden on children's health. This study investigates the efficacy and fundamental mechanisms of varying doses of racecadotril in combination with bifidobacterium triple viable for treating this condition in children. Methods: Employing a randomized controlled trial design, participants diagnosed with pediatric persistent diarrhea were randomly allocated to a high-dose group (observation) and a low-dose group (control), both treated with racecadotril combined with bifidobacterium triple viable. Sequential herbivory leads to a multitude of effects on plants, influencing processes like growth, physiology, defense, and fitness. However, whether the sequential herbivore attack can elicit any transgenerational consequences is poorly examined. In this study, we show evidence of transgenerational impacts of sequential herbivory by two chewing herbivores, fall armyworm (Spodopterafrugiperda , FAW) and soybean looper (Chrysodeixis includens , SL) on soybean (Glycine max ) progeny. Clay minerals contain significant amounts of Fe in their alumosilicate framework, and this structural Fe can be reduced and re-oxidized, constituting a potentially renewable source of reduction equivalents in sedimentary environments. However, dissolution and/or clay mineral transformations during microbial Fe reduction contradict this concept. Here, we investigate how Fe reduction and re-oxidation affect the propensity of Fe to be released from the clay mineral structure and use selective sequential extractions in combination with Mössbauer spectroscopy. Lysosomal storage disorders (LSDs) constitute a group of monogenic systemic diseases resulting from deficiencies in specific lysosomal enzymes that cause the intralysosomal accumulation of non- or partially degraded substrates, leading to lysosomal dysfunction. In some cases of LSDs, the bone is more severely affected, thus producing skeletal manifestations in patients. Current therapies, such as enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) and gene therapy (GT), show limited efficacy in correcting skeletal abnormalities. Increasing evidence suggests that microenvironmental disturbances also contribute significantly to disease pathogenesis. Fingerspelling is a leading predictor of reading ability for deaf people who use a signed language, but few neuroimaging studies have examined how it supports reading. We used event-related potentials to investigate how fingerspelled words prime printed words. Twenty-four skilled deaf adult readers completed a Go/No-Go task while viewing printed English word targets following related and unrelated primes in one of three conditions: printed English words, American Sign Language (ASL) signs, and fingerspelled words. N400 priming effects were strong across all three conditions. Early N400 effects were similar for printed word primes and fingerspelled word primes, suggesting shared orthographic representations. …

Purpose: Renal medullary carcinoma (RMC) is a rare but aggressive kidney cancer affecting young individuals with sickle hemoglobinopathies. Prior retrospective case-control and mouse modeling studies suggest a mechanism linking vigorous intensity physical activity to increased RMC risk in individuals with sickle hemoglobinopathies. This study aimed to prospectively investigate the association between vigorous intensity exercise and RMC.

This action research explores how AI-assisted feedback formats influence students’ academic writing and critical thinking, a gap particularly relevant in the digital learning landscape. This study involved 40 undergraduate Emirati students divided into two groups, receiving either AI-generated video or written feedback across three assignments. Using a quantitative design, data were gathered using standardized critical thinking and academic writing skills rubrics. Additionally, students completed post-surveys to capture their perceptions, engagement levels and use of AI tools in the learning process. Plastic waste represents a serious environmental and health hazard due to its non-biodegradability and toxic leachates. This study investigates the potential conversion of plastic waste into a sustainable raw material for producing a useful substance. This investigation focuses on repurposing PET beverage bottles—a major contributor to microplastic pollution—into high-value activated carbon (AC) for water treatment, aligning with circular economy principles. The chemical preparation method for AC using phosphoric acid as an activating agent was evaluated. We report a 69-year-old with a past medical history of prostate cancer and arsenic poisoning, who was incidentally found to have multiple pulmonary nodules and hepatosplenic lesions on CT imaging. He denied respiratory symptoms, but was noted to have significant weight loss. A bronchoscopy revealed mycobacterium kumamotonense on culture. He was treated presumptively for pulmonary and disseminated infection with azithromycin and ethambutol for 16 months, and 12 months of rifabutin after four months of rifampin which was discontinued due to resistance. Patient’s weight loss resolved and CT imaging appeared significantly improved.

By analyzing the United States Lavender Scare and immigration policy of the 1950s, this paper attempts to shed light on how the distinction between “American” and “Un-American” remains at the center of Queer rights advocacy. The heightened fear over the survival of the nation, along with the view of Queer immigrants as threats to the nation, was used to tighten immigration restrictions. This restriction, however, is complicated by existing prejudices against racial minorities and women.
