Space-based gravitational wave detectors, such as the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) and Taiji, will observe GWs from O(108) galactic binary systems, allowing a completely unobscured view of the Milky Way structure. While previous studies have established theoretical expectations based on idealized data-analysis methods that use the true catalog of sources, we present an end-to-end analysis pipeline for inferring galactic structure parameters based on the detector output alone. We employ the GBSIEVER algorithm to extract GB signals from LISA Data Challenge data and develop a maximum likelihood approach to estimate a bulge-disk galactic model using the resolved GBs. The concept of giftedness is complex, contested and evolving and may be thus frustratingly challenging to apply in practice. One area of emerging research is understanding the personal experiences of those who identify as gifted in order to better represent the myriad culturally diverse conceptions of giftedness that evolve over a lifetime. In this article, I employ an autoethnographic approach to explore aspects of my adult identity as an atypical learner. Allegedly named after a dog show judge, our late dog Rodi was never a Recovery-Oriented Dog Intervention (RODI). Through collaborative-duo-autoethnography, we explore how our mundane co-existence with Rodi has influenced our perspectives on health struggles, recovery, ontology, and what really matters when life becomes difficult, and push comes to shove. We have shared texts describing our memories of how Rodi entered and influenced our lives. Through our collaborative writing we have discovered similarities and differences. A Rare Case Of Rapidly Progressing Merkel Cell Carcinoma, David Sau Ting Jain, Omer Riyadh, Kayla Tran, Nguyen L. Ngo, Dei-Wook Kang

Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a highly aggressive neuroendocrine tumor, known for its rapid progression and poor prognosis. It most commonly affects elderly and immunocompromised individuals, with variable clinical presentations that can make diagnosis challenging. MCC is often mistaken for other skin malignancies, such as basal or squamous cell carcinoma, or even benign skin lesions. Early diagnosis is critical to initiate appropriate treatment, typically involving surgery, radiation, and immunotherapy. This report describes a 66-year-old man diagnosed with MCC with regional lymph node involvement. With the rising demand for alternative fuels, algal-based biofuels are a promising, sustainable source that meets commercial interest while producing lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to fossil fuels. This thesis explored two studies, evaluating microalgae for their future potential in lipid yield for biofuel production.

The first study involved developing a cost-efficient electroporation protocol that allowed for the genetic transformation of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii using the pChlamy_4 vector, which supports future cloning of genes to enhance lipid production. During mouse embryonic brain development, the Evf2 ultraconserved enhancer (UCE) lncRNA guides the Dlx5/6UCE to ~129 sites across chr6. However, previous work identified only 4 transcriptionally regulated targets associated with Evf2-Dlx5/6UCE-gene guidance, raising questions about the significance of Evf2-regulated Dlx5/6UCE-gene interactions. Here, single-cell transcriptomics reveal far greater alignment between Evf2-Dlx5/6UCE-gene guidance and transcriptional regulation than previously reported. Evf2 divides chr6 into short-range ( < 10 Mb distant), activated genes, and long/super-long-range (10-129 Mb distant), repressed genes, identifying seizure regulating genes in the embryonic subventricular zone that predict adult phenotypes. Evf2-regulated Dlx5/6UCE-gene distances and directions (closer to or further from gene targets) can be decoupled from gene target transcriptional effects. Evf2 regulates Evf2-ribonucleoprotein (RNP) binding in a combinatorial manner to key regulatory sites, including chr6 Evf2-Dlx5/6UCE-gene guided sites, Evf1/2 RNA-directly bound sites (RBSs), and inter-chromosomal HiC looping interactions. RBSs divide chromosomes into multi-megabase domains enriched for Evf2-regulated RNP recruitment, transcription factor motifs, and HiC looping interactions. Together with Evf2-controlled homeobox motif recognition at Evf2-RNP recruitment sites and transcription factor motif enrichment in RBSs with DNA identity, this work supports direct roles for Evf2 in enhancer-gene guidance and transcriptional regulation, with the potential for both site-specific and chromosomal domain specific RNP recruitment.

Using research in relational sociology and personal experience, I would like to present on how relational interactions help prevent alienation and isolation in the workplace. I chose to work at an academic library due to its commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), yet the absence of empathy and mutual respect in workplace culture made it increasingly difficult to feel valued. Department transactions felt dehumanizing and exploitive, and DEI principles felt abstract rather than lived experiences. I turned to relational sociology for a broader understanding of why I felt excluded in a work environment priding itself in DEI values.

Based on industry use cases, we identify six distinct types of digital transformation (DT), each grounded in a specific concept or enabling technology. These DT types can be implemented individually or combined to drive transformation initiatives. While deploying a single DT type often focuses on improving operational efficiency or streamlining existing workflows, initiatives that combine multiple DT types tend to pursue more ambitious goals, such as the creation of new products, services, or business models. Exclusionary discipline contributes to the school-to-prison pipeline and recidivism rates in adults. Untranslated RNA sequences play essential roles in orchestrating gene expression. However, the sequence codes and mechanisms underpinning post-transcriptional regulation remain incompletely understood. Here, we revisit the finding from a prior massively parallel reporter assay (MPRA) that AU-rich elements in 3' untranslated regions (3' UTRs) can drive upregulation or downregulation of mRNA expression depending on 3' UTR context. We unexpectedly discover that this variable regulation arises from widespread cryptic splicing, predominately from an unannotated splice donor in the coding sequence of GFP to diverse acceptor sites in reporter 3' UTRs.
