Background Long-distance truckers (LDTs) not only experience heightened risk of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections due to risky sexual networks, but are also hard to reach with consistent risk reduction messages due to their often disruptive work schedules. Besides, evidence of the existing behavior change communication (BCC) strategies to enhance HIV/ acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) risk reduction is limited. Thus, the study sought to explore the most effective and preferred BCC strategies for adoption among LDTs in Kenya.

Research has indicated that children and adults can implicitly learn language patterns; however, questions still remain regarding the role and nature of implicit learning, particularly of sequential patterns. Implicit statistical learning is a type of unconscious learning of sequential patterns, which may be especially relevant to phrase structure learning. Prior studies have highlighted the differential processing of function words (FWs), such as determiners, relative to content and nonsense words and have also pointed to particular neural response patterns (specifically, Anterior Negativity, or AN) to early syntactic violations. Contrast sensitivity is important for navigating the real world and operating under different light conditions. The contrast sensitivity function (CSF) reflects how the visual system performs under different conditions. This paper seeks to provide conceptual and empirical justifications for civil servants to engage in disobedience to curb bureaucratic pathology. Various civil servants have long complained that they face illegal instructions from their superiors. The cases discussed here are from public procurement, which has a dimension of political corruption, a recurring problem in many places in Indonesia. Thus, the problem shall be seen as a bureaucratic pathology rather than as maladministration. Peripartum depression (PPD) represents a significant public health concern, affecting 10-17% of women globally. Traditional monoaminergic treatments demonstrate limited efficacy and delayed onset of action. The glutamate-GABA imbalance hypothesis provides a novel theoretical framework for understanding depression pathophysiology and developing targeted therapeutic interventions. This review examines emerging pharmacotherapeutic approaches targeting glutamatergic and GABAergic neurotransmitter systems for PPD treatment. Search criteria targeted randomized clinical trials investigating GABA-A-positive allosteric modulators (brexanolone, zuranolone, and ganaxolone) and NMDA receptor antagonists (ketamine and esketamine) in PPD patients. Treatment-resistant depression (TRD) represents a severe and complex subtype of major depressive disorder (MDD), affecting approximately 30% of patients who fail to respond adequately to multiple standard antidepressant therapies. While the pathophysiology of TRD remains incompletely understood, emerging evidence suggests that sex-based biological differences might influence its onset, progression, and treatment response. Women are disproportionately affected by depression and are more likely to experience residual symptoms and treatment resistance, potentially due to hormonal fluctuations, immune system differences, and variations in brain circuitry and neuroplasticity. Background: Hispanics have been historically underrepresented in epidemiologic cancer research. Existing cohort studies focused on recruiting Hispanic participants have been relatively small, making studying cancer outcomes challenging. Therefore, we aimed to compare the distribution of cancer risk factors among Hispanic women of Mexican heritage (HWMH) participating in existing cohorts to explore the possibility of future data pooling efforts.

This dissertation examines the strategic value and performance implications for traditional value-chain firms (TVCFs) that adopt digital multi-sided platforms (DMSPs) to augment their existing businesses. DMSPs facilitate interactions among multiple user groups through digital intermediaries, generating self-reinforcing network effects that enhance value creation, reduce operational and transaction costs, and enable collective innovation. Despite the prevalence of platform-based firms, 60% of global unicorns and 7 of the world’s 10 most valuable companies operate digital platforms, empirical research on the value-creation mechanisms of DMSPs remains limited.
