Background: The homoeopathic philosophy identifies susceptibility as a key concept for prescribing a similimum, i.e., the indicated remedy and its potency. No validated instrument to measure susceptibility as high, medium or low could be identified in the literature. Objective: The present study was undertaken to identify the factors governing susceptibility assessment and to develop a simple tool for physicians to assess the susceptibility of the cases they see in their clinical practice. Homoeopathic medicines require safe packaging to maintain their quality and effectiveness. Proper packaging prevents contamination, preserves potency, and ensures patient safety. Hence, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) had received the proposal from the Ministry of Ayush for the development of BIS standards for packaging material used for homoeopathic medicinal products (HMP). One such packaging is plastic containers. This dissertation employs a three-study qualitative design to investigate the role of mentorship and social interaction in the identity development of racial minority undergraduate students in STEM disciplines. Grounded in Communities of Practice theory, this research amplifies student narratives to elucidate the relational and contextual factors that inform science identity, belonging, competence, and persistence in higher education. Study One draws upon interview data from fifteen participants in the BUILD program to analyze the role of recognition, particularly from expert scientists--in students' science identity development. In the present investigation, silver (Ag) and copper (Cu) nanostructured particles were synthesized from Eremurus plant by means of an environmentally benign methodology in which plant extracts served as both reducing and stabilizing agents. The resultant nanostructured particles were subjected to characterization techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDXS). XRD analysis confirmed development of Ag nanostructured particles with face-centered cubic (fcc) structure and also Cu nanostructured particles with cubic form. The deep penetration of laser peening (LP) and retention of residual stress at high temperature by LP is significant in improving fatigue life and strength of superalloys exposed to high temperature and corrosion. Single crystal CMSX-4, was evaluated for stress relaxation and both fatigue life and fatigue strength of material that was LP-treated compared to non-LP and shot-peened (SP) specimens. LP was done with multiple layers using a 20 J/pulse laser where the laser high energy enabled using a 5 mm spot size on the metal surface. Background and Aims: The transient receptor potential vanilloid subfamily member 6 (TRPV6), a calcium-selective channel, is crucial for intracellular calcium (Ca2+) transport, impacting the maintenance of Ca2+ homeostasis in the pancreas. Variants in the TRPV6 gene have been associated with disruptions in calcium balance, potentially contributing to chronic pancreatitis (CP). This systematic review aims to unravel the connections between TRPV6 gene variants and pancreatitis, with a particular focus on CP. Understanding who makes up online affinity spaces as well as how information flows within those spaces is important as more people access news, research topics, collaborate with others, and entertain themselves. During a month-long period in summer 2021, we collected 100,000 tweets from 53,311 Twitter users who used the hashtags #ScienceTwitter, #SciComm, and #AcademicTwitter. We then classified users and determined the type of social network they formed. Scientists, the public, and educators formed this affinity space. The landlord commenced a nonpayment summary eviction proceeding. The tenant moved to dismiss, asserting the rent demand was defective for failing to credit earmarked HRA payments. The landlord cross-moved to amend the petition. The court granted the tenant's motion and dismissed the proceeding without prejudice, finding the rent demand defective. The omission of HRA payments, representing 17% of the alleged arrears, was deemed more than a de minimis miscalculation and failed to properly apprise the tenant of the amount due. The court denied the landlord's cross-motion to amend, holding that a defective predicate notice is not amendable.

Studies show that inconsistencies in teaching and evaluating skills proficiency in nursing programs can lead to student failure, delayed progression, and decreased faculty satisfaction. The purpose and aim of this quality improvement project was to determine whether the use of an evidence-based, standardized tool for teaching and evaluating Foley catheter insertion improved faculty satisfaction and teaching confidence compared to faculty-created checklists. The project utilized a quasi-experimental design guided by the Iowa Model of Evidence-Based Practice and Kotter’s 8-Step Change Model. Surfactant-enhanced spontaneous imbibition is a proven method of enhancing oil recovery from shale reservoirs. However, a significant knowledge gap concerning the impact of clay minerals on surfactant-enhanced imbibition in shale reservoirs remains. Therefore, this study first analyzed the mineral composition and pore structure of the shale reservoirs. Subsequently, three surfactants were selected for spontaneous imbibition experiments. The influence of various clay minerals on the surfactant imbibition was assessed by considering various properties of the imbibition system. The results showed that the shale pores primarily consisted of macropores (44.03%) and mesopores (43.94%). Surfactants enhance the imbibition recovery by altering the wettability …

Purpose – This study aims to examine the factors that influence citizens intention to continue using e-government services in Pakistan. Design/methodology/approach – Data were collected through an online survey of 641 Pakistani citizens. The responses were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. Findings – This study shows that disposition to trust positively correlates with both trust in the internet and trust in government. Notably, citizens’ satisfaction, perceived usefulness, confirmation of expectations and perceived risk significantly influence their intention to continue using e-government services. Obesity has been linked to an increased risk of cognitive impairment and dementia in later life. Although aging and obesity are both associated with cognitive decline, it remains unclear how they interact to affect cognitive function across the lifespan and how brain function might mediate their relationship with cognition. Our previous findings and other studies have shown that membrane type 1-matrix metalloproteinase (MT1-MMP/MMP14), which increases with age, regulates energy homeostasis. Inhibiting MT1-MMP improves insulin sensitivity, reduces body fat, and lowers serum cholesterol. Here, we demonstrate that MT1-MMP links neuroinflammation to cognitive decline in aging and obesity. The Eldridge framework, a stable feature of Canadian Charter jurisprudence for decades, sets out part of the framework for determining when entities or activities qualify as “government” under section 32(1), the Charter’s application section. In light of this stability, the Supreme Court of Canada’s analysis of the section 32(1) issue in York Region District School Board v Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario was surprising. Government protection against systemic harm to human well-being is stymied by the liberal idea that power is most legitimately wielded by autonomous individuals taking personal responsibility for their substantive well-being. Instead, a robust vision of democracy and socioeconomic justice requires grounding legitimate power in institutional responsibility, replacing the formal individual actor of liberal theory with the universally embodied, embedded human subject developed in Martha Fineman’s Vulnerability Theory. The Hippo pathway controls organ development, homeostasis, and regeneration primarily by modulating YAP/TEAD-mediated gene expression. Although emerging studies report Hippo-YAP dysfunction after viral infection, it is largely unknown in the context of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Here, we analyzed RNA sequencing data from human-induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (iPSC-CMs) and SARS-CoV-2-infected human lung samples, and observed a decrease in YAP target gene expression. In screening SARS-CoV-2 nonstructural proteins, we found that nonstructural protein 13 (NSP13), a conserved coronavirus helicase, inhibits YAP transcriptional activity independent of the upstream Hippo kinases LATS1/2. Pesticides are a major global problem because of their effects on living organisms and their bodily functions. This study was conducted from August 25, 2022, to October 25, 2022. It aimed to know the toxic effects of Chlorpyrifos on common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.), and the potential of Moringa oleifera leaves to reduce this toxicity by evaluating their effect on growth performance in fish exposed to the pesticide. Sources, Distribution And Ecological Risk Assessment Of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon In Sediment Of Tigris River, Iraq, Shahad R. Zaki, Maysoon Hassan Meshjel, Abdul Hameed M.J. Al-Obaidy

Sediment samples were collected from five sites at Tigris River from Baghdad to Wasit Governorates River from December 2021 to November 2022. Sixteen polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in these sediment samples were analyzed. The results show that the total PAH concentrations ranged from 957.37 to 1805.05 μg/kg dry weight (dw) with mean values of 1368.034 μg/kg. Furthermore, the high molecular weight compounds (four, five, and six rings) of PAH in the analyzed sediment samples suggest that combustion sources such as fuel, gasoline, and vehicle emissions are the primary sources of PAHs in the environment. Upon antigenic stimulation, CD4+T cells undergo clonal expansion elevating their bioenergetic demands and utilization of nutrients like glucose and glutamine. The nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) is a well-known regulator of oxidative stress, but its involvement in modulating the metabolism of CD4+T cells remains unexplored. We report that Nrf2 protein levels are temporally regulated in activated CD4+T cells, with elevated expression during early activation followed by a decline. T cell-specific constitutive activation of Nrf2, by deletion of its negative regulator Keap1, enhances early activation and interleukin-2 (IL-2) expression, upregulates T cell receptor (TCR) signaling, and increases activation-driven expansion of …
