Onchocerciasis remains a significant cause of morbidity and economic loss in sub-Saharan Africa. Despite the existence of effective therapeutics, a prophylactic vaccine targeting the etiologic agent, Onchocerca volvulus, is needed to control ongoing disease and transmission. Mice were vaccinated against O. volvulus with a fusion of the recombinant antigens Ov-103 and Ov-RAL-2 (Ov-FUS-1) with Advax-CpG adjuvant. Immunized mice developed protective immunity with the killing of third-stage larvae (L3) within 36 h of challenge infection. IgG from immunized mice passively transferred protective immunity to naïve mice, indicating that antigen-specific IgG mediated parasite elimination. The roots of this unique "dual" banking system can be traced back to the Constitution, written almost a century before banks rose to the apex of the financial system and became the dominant source of money. Beginning with the landmark Supreme Court decision in McCulloch v. Maryland, this system has been a wellspring of jurisdictional conflict. The Declaration of Independence accuses King George III of having "obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers." But despite the seemingly natural resonance of this particular charge with the legal profession, legal scholars have given remarkably little attention to the controversy that provoked this particular complaint. This Article traces the colonists' complaint to a somewhat surprising and unexpected source—a dispute about personal jurisdiction.

In this holdover proceeding, the Appellate Term reversed the lower court's dismissal of the landlord's petition and ordered a new trial. The landlord sought to recover possession, arguing the apartment became deregulated after a rent-controlled tenant vacated, due to vacancy increases and individual apartment improvements (IAIs). The Civil Court dismissed, citing the landlord's failure to register the apartment as deregulated or stabilized. The Appellate Term held that regulatory status derives from statute, not registration errors or estoppel. Stopping then restarting the blood flow to the heart can cause ischaemia reperfusion (IR) injury. This can happen during revascularisation following a myocardial infarction and during on pump cardiac surgery using cardioplegic arrest. Despite extensive studies to identify cardioprotective interventions, the myocardium continues to sustain significant injury. Therefore, there is a need to identify agents that can be used during IR. This review focuses on the potential cardioprotective role for acidic amino acids and natural dipeptides using evidence from experimental studies and clinical trials with particular emphasis on their membrane transport. Recent studies have highlighted evidence of human impact on landscapes dating back to the Late Pleistocene–long before the advent of agriculture. Quantifying the extent of vegetation transformations by hunter-gatherers remains a major research challenge. We address this challenge by comparing climate-based potential natural vegetation cover with pollen-based vegetation reconstructions for the Last Interglacial and the Early Holocene. Differences between these datasets suggest that climate alone cannot fully explain the pollen-based vegetation patterns in Europe during these periods. The dominance of "WEIRD" (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic) authors might indicate significant differences in research practices between them and non-WEIRD researchers or highlight issues such as inequality and publishing bias. In this survey, using a convenience sample of researchers worldwide (N = 72), we examined current research practices and researchers' views on the feasibility of advancements in employed methodologies among and between researchers in both WEIRD and Non-WEIRD countries. Our results showed that research practices are fairly uniform across cultures, by researchers commonly relying on (student) convenience samples, using statistical packages such as SPSS and R, utilizing …

Happiness is a state that is constantly strived for amidst the complexity of life. Previous research suggests that the student population is prone to psychological problems due to high workloads and a scarce resource of time that could affect happiness. Referring to previous studies, this study seeks to examine the relationship between feelings of awe and subjective well-being which is influenced by perceptions of time availability and perceived workload. The study was a randomized crossover design with counterbalanced conditions in community members living near a single academic institution. Participants included twenty healthy adults (11 male). The intervention consisted of two 36-h water-only fasts, one of which was initiated with a bout of treadmill exercise. Venous blood was taken at baseline, 12-h, 24-h, and 36-h of fasting. This paper provides empirical evidence to conceptualize how digital technologies reconfigure entrepreneurship. Taking an inductive theory-building approach, we first examined the extant literature. Our research study utilised case studies and surveys. More than forty extensive interviews were conducted with experienced digital entrepreneurs (DEs). The analysis followed an iterative grounded theory approach. These Australasian findings indicated that a continuum exists as traditional ventures migrate towards digital operations, forming hybrid models that reflect both the characteristics of traditional entrepreneurism and DE. The research investigates women's motivation, and challenges in business, focusing on gender equality and social inclusion's impact on female entrepreneurs in the service industry. This is qualitative research. Phenomenology served as the research design. The semi-structured interviews were employed for interviews from eighteen entrepreneurs after acquiring ethical approval. Thematic analysis was employed as a data analysis approach. Multiple methods assured rigor. The study's outcome addressed several themes, suggesting that Women's entrepreneurship may increase social inclusion, and gender equality, and lessen poverty. It is now unlikely that meaningful federal legislation on climate destruction will be advanced in a second Trump administration. If “no action” is the alternative for the federal government, it will be up to the states to develop measures to counteract this challenge. These measures — in response to a trend in Supreme Court rulings that restrict or deny federal environmental action without explicit congressional approval – could include, among other things, new air and water quality standards, fishing restrictions, and changes to water allocations in our rivers. State constitutions contain numerous rights-protecting provisions that are analogous to provisions of the United States Constitution. But lawyers and courts often ignored state constitutions. Even when courts interpreted state constitutions, they often followed an approach known as lockstepping: state constitutional rights were viewed as having the same meaning as analogous federal provisions, even when the state provisions had different wording and were adopted for different purposes at different times than their federal analogues. This article investigates transgender participation in athletics and the ethical implications of competing in sport emphasizing divergent categories regarding biological sex at birth in comparison to arguments based on gender identity preference. The landlord commenced a holdover proceeding against the tenant, classifying them as a licensee following a foreclosure. The tenant moved to dismiss, arguing the termination notice was defective. The court determined the tenant, a former owner who sold the property to an entity that later faced foreclosure, was actually a tenant at sufferance, not a licensee. As such, the tenant was entitled to a 30-day notice of termination under RPL § 228, not the 10-day notice issued under RPAPL § 713. The court granted the tenant's motion to dismiss the proceeding without prejudice due to the improper predicate notice.
