Markets, Globalization & Development Review

This study examines how AI image generation systems perpetuate digital orientalism through systematic cultural representation patterns that increasingly shape global digital markets and international development discourse. Using visual social semiotics methodology, we conducted comparative analysis of Midjourney and ChatGPT platforms across nine culturally specific prompts examining religious imagery, contemporary social dynamics, and power structures in Indian cultural contexts. Our findings reveal that both platforms consistently reproduce colonial-era representational frameworks despite culturally sensitive prompting and advanced technical capabilities. The analysis identifies three systematic patterns: temporal displacement strategies that acknowledge modernity while containing it within orientalist categories, institutional validation requirements that privilege …

The present disclosure relates to a method and system for automatic agentic analytics for proactive, intelligent analytics through coordinated artificial intelligence (AI) agents. The system monitors one or more real-time financial data sources and generates user context features, data context features and organizational context features based on the monitoring. The system combines the user context features, the data context features, and the organizational context features to generate a combined feature vector. Further, the system processes the combined feature vector to identify AI agents to be activated and determines agent coordination strategies for the identified AI agents.

Seismic codes are laws and regulations that establish the basic requirements for building structures that can withstand seismic activity. Each country has different restrictions under different subheadings, depending on the seismic history of the region and the economic situation of the country. A man in his 70s presented with dyspnea and a seizure, requiring intubation for suspected status epilepticus. Following extubation and treatment for a COPD exacerbation, persistent hypoxemia led to high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy. However, his condition worsened with increased work of breathing and inability to speak. Chest radiography revealed a dislodged denture in the upper airway. Emergency reintubation and removal of the denture led to rapid clinical improvement, and he was extubated the next day. While denture dislodgement has been reported with bag-mask ventilation and BiPAP, this is the first case associated with HFNC. This case underscores the need …

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) on quality of life (QoL) in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in Pakistan. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted involving 5,325 patients who underwent PCI, divided into CIN (n = 1,250) and non-CIN (n = 4,075) groups. Demographics, clinical characteristics, and procedural details were recorded. QoL was assessed using a standardized questionnaire before and after PCI, covering physical functioning, pain, mobility, anxiety/depression, and overall health. Purpose of Review: Repetitive head impacts (RHI)—repeated head trauma that may or may not result in clinically identified injury—are a growing public health concern due to links with neurodegenerative disease and long-term dysfunction. This review aimed to synthesize current knowledge of RHI and evaluate methodological challenges that limit conclusions about its clinical consequences. Recent Findings: Emerging studies highlight associations between RHI and cognitive, emotional, and functional outcomes across vulnerable populations including athletes, military personnel, and survivors of intimate partner violence. However, definitional ambiguity, difficulties in measuring exposure, and population-specific confounds continue to hinder progress. Clinical approaches emphasize individualized assessment and …

This dissertation looks at several examples of early modern pastoral in order to examine how physical movement into and out of the pastoral setting informs the degree of realism implied by that setting. While the pastoral stops short of articulating the actual social, political, and material concerns of those who literally live in the countryside, it does regularly call to mind a literal rural world. Introduction: Calcific aortic valve disease (CAVD) is the most common heart valve disorder. While hypertension is a major risk factor, the mechanisms by which elevated blood pressure contributes to calcification are largely unknown. Given the established sensitivity of aortic valve (AV) tissue to mechanical cues, hypertension may subject AV leaflets to a stress state conducive to CAVD. To address this hypothesis, the objective of this study was to compare AV function and mechanics under normotensive (NTN, 120/ 80 mmHg), pre-hypertensive (preHTN, 125/80 mmHg) and hypertensive (HTN, 130/90 mmHg) conditions using fluid-structure interaction modeling.
