The Aadhaar Verdict And The Surveillance Challenge, Ananth Padmanabhan, Vasudha Singh Nov 2025

The Aadhaar Verdict And The Surveillance Challenge, Ananth Padmanabhan, Vasudha Singh

Indian Journal of Law and Technology

Conventional responses to privacy protection, such as the notice-and-consent framework, are inapposite to a datafied world where ubiquitous data collection is facilitated by a range of advanced technologies. Such traditional frameworks also commonly vest the State with more leeway than private companies to access personal data, which amplifies privacy harms in case of State use of data. Despite the ominous possibility of State surveillance, the Indian judiciary has thus far grappled with the right to privacy through a narrow lens focused on individual privacy risks rather than structural moves towards a surveillance society. This article explores a different viewpoint by …

Wheat stripe rust (Puccinia striiformis f. sp. triticiPst) poses a catastrophic threat to global food security. While MADS-box transcription factors regulate development and abiotic stress, their roles in plant-pathogen immunity remain enigmatic. In this study, we identified TaMADS2, a Pst-induced MADS-box gene, as a positive regulator of wheat resistance. Functional analyses demonstrated that TaMADS2 overexpression significantly enhanced Pst resistance, whereas its knockdown rendered wheat more susceptible. Further investigation revealed that TaMADS2 interacts with trichome birefringence-like protein 21 (TaTBL21) to activate glycerol kinase-like (TaGKL) expression. Silencing TaGKL in wild-type or TaMADS2-overexpressing lines …

Challenges And Policies For Female Sex Workers’ Readiness To Participate In Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis Program: An Explorative Qualitative Study, Rico Januar Sitorus, Anita Rahmiwati, Diana Dewi Sartika, Elvi Sunarsih, Asri Maharani

Kesmas

The prevalence of human immunodeficiency virus is high among female sex workers (FSWs) in Indonesia, underscoring the need for integrated prevention strategies supported by strong government policies. This study aimed to investigate FSWs' willingness to participate in a pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) program. This qualitative study employed semi-structured interviews with 20 participants residing in Pangkal Pinang City, Indonesia (4 stakeholders and 16 FSWs), recruited through purposive sampling. Data were collected from July to September 2024. This non-probability sampling method was adopted due to the focus on specific study objectives and a targeted population. The analysis of the interviews revealed three theme …

Improving Glycemic Control Among Indonesian Urban Adults: A Digital And Behavioral Extension Of The Information–Motivation–Behavioral Skills Model, Imelda Appulembang

Kesmas

Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in Indonesia continues to face challenges due to behavioral, informational, and technological gaps among patients. This study analyzed the influence of self-regulatory competence and information, motivation, family support, and digital health literacy on glycemic control behavior. A cross-sectional survey was conducted from February to April 2025 among 587 adults aged >30 years with T2DM enrolled in the Chronic Disease Management Program at primary health care in six major cities: Jakarta, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Medan, Makassar, and Banjarmasin. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The findings …

Dose-Dependent Benefits Of Dietary Yeast Cell Wall Supplementation On The Growth Performance And Stress Resilience Of The European Seabass (Dicentrarchus Labrax), Camille Houdelet, Ana Teresa Goncalves, Jorge Dias, Mark Rawling, Eric Leclercq Nov 2025

Dose-Dependent Benefits Of Dietary Yeast Cell Wall Supplementation On The Growth Performance And Stress Resilience Of The European Seabass (Dicentrarchus Labrax), Camille Houdelet, Ana Teresa Goncalves, Jorge Dias, Mark Rawling, Eric Leclercq

School of Biological and Marine Sciences

Preventive health management is central to modern aquaculture practices, within which functional feed additives are a key tool to optimising fish robustness and disease resilience. Despite being well documented, only few studies have assessed the dose–effect of graded levels of S. cerevisiae yeast cell wall (YCW) on fish performance and mucosal barrier immunity. A 9-week trial was conducted to assess the impact of graded levels of YCW on the performance and mucosal barriers of the European seabass under period: (1) non-challenge (43 days) then (2) with an applied husbandry stressors (20 days) in the form of high stocking density, low …

Loss-of-function mutations in methyl-CpG binding protein 2 (MECP2) cause Rett syndrome. While we know that MeCP2 binds to methylated cytosines on DNA, the full breadth of the molecular mechanisms by which MeCP2 regulates gene expression remains incompletely understood. Here, using a genetic modifier screen, we identify the super elongation complex, a P-TEFb–containing elongation factor that releases promoter-proximally paused RNA polymerase II, as a genetic interactor of MECP2. MeCP2 physically interacts with SEC subunits and directly binds AFF4, the scaffold of the SEC, via the transcriptional repression domain. Furthermore, MeCP2 facilitates the binding of AFF4 on a subset …

Regulating Lithium Metal Nucleation And Growth For Dendrite Suppression: From Liquid-Electrolyte To Solid-State Batteries, Ao Du, Juan Zhang, Pan Xu, Ya-Jie Li, Kang-Yu Yi, Zhen-Zhen Shen, Hui-Lin Ge, Guang-Wen Zhang, Chao-Hui Zhang, Yu-Hao Wang, Chen-Zi Zhao, Meng-Yang Xu, Yu-Lin Jie, Rui Wen, Shu-Hong Jiao, Si-Qi Shi, Qiang Zhang, Chun-Peng Yang, Yu-Guo Guo

Journal of Electrochemistry

Lithium metal anodes, with a theoretical capacity of up to 3860 mAh·g−1, are regarded as the cornerstone for developing next-generation high-energy-density batteries. However, several key challenges hinder their practical applications, including dendrite formation, unstable solid electrolyte interphase (SEI), side reactions with electrolytes, and associated safety risks. This review systematically explores the mechanisms of lithium nucleation, growth, and stripping in both liquid and solid-state battery systems, analyzing critical theoretical concepts like heterogeneous nucleation thermodynamics, surface diffusion kinetics, space charge effects, and SEI-induced nucleation, which are crucial for understanding the genesis of dendrite growth. Additionally, the review discusses the electrochemical-mechanical …

Risk Exposure And Stakeholder Oversight In College Sports: Lessons From A Lightning Incident, John J. Miller Dr., Jason W. Lee Dr., Elizabeth A. Gregg, Jeffrey F. Levine Nov 2025

Risk Exposure And Stakeholder Oversight In College Sports: Lessons From A Lightning Incident, John J. Miller Dr., Jason W. Lee Dr., Elizabeth A. Gregg, Jeffrey F. Levine

The COSMA Journal

The management of collegiate athletic events increasingly demands systematic approaches to risk identification, assessment, and mitigation, yet risk management education within athletics remains inconsistent. As a result, athletic directors, coaches, and facility managers frequently lack the formal preparation necessary to design and implement effective risk management policies, thereby exposing institutions to operational disruption and legal liability. Severe weather events, particularly lightning storms, underscore the importance of integrating legal principles such as duty of care, premises liability, and foreseeability into institutional planning. This case study, based on a real-life incident, shows that athletic administrators, often with limited formal training in risk …
