Micro-scale robotic systems have garnered significant interest for applications in micromanufacturing and biosensing, yet quantitative design rules linking geometry, stiffness distribution, and magnetic actuation to locomotion performance at low Reynolds number remain limited. This thesis investigates magnetically actuated rod-like soft robots composed of hydrogel filaments with embedded micro-magnets and tunable hard:soft length ratios. Four- and eight-magnet swimmers with hard:soft ratios ranging from 1:1 to 2.5:1 and 4:3:1 are fabricated using a simple molding-and-insertion process and tested in water and silicone oil. A triaxial Helmholtz coil system generates rotating magnetic fields from 1 to 10 Hz, and a custom image-processing pipeline …

Community health needs assessments (CHNAs) are vital tools for identifying population health priorities through monitoring chronic diseases and conditions; however, their effectiveness in preventing chronic diseases remains debated. This comparative study examines CHNAs from sixteen South Dakota hospitals across Avera, Sanford, Monument Health, and independent systems to evaluate their role in preventing chronic diseases. Analysis reveals significant challenges, including biased data sampling, limited community engagement, small survey samples, and inconsistent implementation strategies. While CHNAs effectively identify mental health, cancer, and obesity as the top community concerns alongside several other diseases like diabetes and kidney disease, most reports lack specific timelines …

State constitutions can, and often do, provide more extensive individual rights than the Federal Constitution affords. When this occurs, state courts frequently cite textual differences between the Federal Constitution and their own state constitutions to explain their departures from federal norms. But do textual differences between the Federal Constitution and state constitutions actually explain why some states offer more constitutional protection than the federal government does? When it comes to the Fourth Amendment’s open fields doctrine, the answer is no.

The history of Shakespeare in South Africa is that of an often contested cultural battleground, with meanings fought over across a colonial boundary. In Chapter One, we examine some of the many cultural intersections between Shakespeare and South African rewriters. In the process, we can see how Shakespeare came to the region as a tool for colonial domination, but would eventually be used to rebuke the colonial narrative that was conservatively ascribed to him. When dangerous social media challenges go viral and cause harm to adolescents and young children, should the platform be held liable for pushing that content? As it currently stands, Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1934 prevents this from happening. However, Anderson v. TikTok—a recent suit brought on behalf of a ten-year-old girl who died after asphyxiating herself while participating in the viral “Blackout Challenge”—seeks to change that.

Demonstrating standing for injunctive relief in § 1983 police misconduct cases is undisputedly difficult for civil rights plaintiffs. Under City of Los Angeles v. Lyons, plaintiffs seeking injunctions must present more than evidence of past misconduct; they must show a significant ongoing risk that they will experience the same misconduct again. Scholarly attention to Lyons has focused primarily on doctrinal errors in the Court’s legal analysis, and for good reason. Traditional models of interdisciplinary collaboration in higher education often struggled to transcend disciplinary silos, resulting in fragmented Communication and superficial integration. The Components of Role-playing in Experiential Learning (CREL) Framework offered a transformative alternative by embedding role-playing mechanics into structured learning environments, enabling participants to embody perspectives beyond their disciplinary boundaries. First, this paper introduced the five core components of the CREL Framework—Scenario, Social Contract, Collaboration, Choice, and Experience—and explained how they function as an integrated system for designing and assessing collaborative learning environments. BACKGROUND: Adults and children often respond differently to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection, with adults facing a higher risk of symptomatic and severe illness. We hypothesize that children's protection from symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 may be due to more frequent respiratory viral infections, which prime their airway antiviral defenses.

METHODS: Using case-cohort and case-control analyses in the Human Epidemiology and Response to SARS-CoV-2 cohort, we evaluated whether infection with common respiratory viruses protects against SARS-CoV-2 infections and investigated airway molecular mechanisms by which this protection is achieved. Instructor Perceptions And Practices Of Translanguaging In Saudi University Efl Classrooms: A Mixed‑Methods Study, Hatim Abdulhadi Masoudi

This study investigated the translanguaging strategies used for teaching English as a foreign language (EFL) at seven Saudi universities. Quantitative questionnaire data were collected from 22 instructors, and qualitative written interview data were collected from four instructors. The findings indicate that Saudi EFL instructors reported a positive perception of translanguaging and its application, despite certain challenges, such as needing extra class time and incompatibility with standardized assessment. Translanguaging was perceived to encourage EFL students to participate more effectively and express ideas in Arabic that they struggled to convey in English. Teaching and Supervision in Counseling

We conducted a Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA) content analysis of handbooks (N=54) from CACREP-accredited doctoral counselor education and supervision programs. The purpose of this study was to better understand how counselor education programs communicate remediation policies and procedures and what specific elements are included in handbooks. Our findings revealed that while dismissal policies, dispositions, due process, and evaluation procedures were commonly included, there was significant variability in the inclusion of other domains, such as retention policies and definitions of remediation. Notably, only one handbook included all ten documented domains. The study highlights a need for more comprehensive and standardized remediation …
