The Place Of Touch In Greco-Roman Antiquity And In The Old Testament, Dom Joseph B. Bulan
The Place Of Touch In Greco-Roman Antiquity And In The Old Testament, Dom Joseph B. Bulan
Loyola Papers
This article examines the significance of touch in Greco-Roman Antiquity and the Old Testament. Through an interdisciplinary approach drawing from philosophy, law, medicine, religious practice, and biblical ritual, the study retrieves touch as a meaningful and performative medium that conveys power, holiness, and social order. It shows how touch functions to establish boundaries, mediate relationships, and regulate access to the sacred. By comparing Greco-Roman sensory hierarchies with Israel’s covenantal and purity-centered worldview, the article highlights key distinctions between holiness and purity and contributes to ongoing discussions in biblical theology, ritual theory, and theological anthropology.
Buddha’S Dhammapada And Jesus Christ’S Parable Of The Rich Man And Lazarus: Evil, Freedom, And Divine Justice, Kevin Stephon R. Centeno
Buddha’S Dhammapada And Jesus Christ’S Parable Of The Rich Man And Lazarus: Evil, Freedom, And Divine Justice, Kevin Stephon R. Centeno
Loyola Papers
This article presents a comparative study of moral evil, human freedom, and justice in the Dhammapada and the Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus. Engaging insights from Paul Ricoeur and John Hick, the study examines how Buddhism and Christianity interpret the moral consequences of human actions. While differing in theological foundations—karmic law and divine justice—the traditions converge in affirming moral responsibility and the inevitability of ethical consequences, offering valuable insights for interreligious dialogue and contemporary ethical reflection.
The Human Person As Relatio In Joseph Ratzinger’S Logos-Dialogos Theology, Junmar Cris N. Caputolan
The Human Person As Relatio In Joseph Ratzinger’S Logos-Dialogos Theology, Junmar Cris N. Caputolan
Loyola Papers
This article examines the concept of the human person as relatio in the theology of Joseph Ratzinger. Marking the twentieth anniversary of Ratzinger’s election as pope, the paper situates his Logos-Dialogos theology at the intersection of Christology and theological anthropology. It traces the development of personhood from Augustine of Hippo and Boethius to Richard of St. Victor, culminating in Ratzinger’s relational vision of the human person. The study highlights how faith, reason, and love converge in a dialogical understanding of personhood oriented toward communion with God and others.

The Experience Of Women’S Dignity In The Angolan Synodal Church: A Pastoral Critical Re-Reading Of Mulieris Dignitatem From Angolan Cosmology, José Abílio Praia
Loyola Papers
This article critically reexamines Mulieris Dignitatem within the context of Angolan cultural cosmology. The study highlights the tension between the symbolic reverence for women and their social marginalization in Angola. Employing feminist and pastoral perspectives, it explores how indigenous relational and life-giving concepts of womanhood can enrich theological reflection. By engaging African and Asian feminist insights, the paper proposes a synodal ecclesiology grounded in lived experience, co-responsibility, and structural transformation, emphasizing women’s dignity as integral to the Church’s identity and mission.

St. Ignatius Of Loyola’S Engagement With Mystagogy, Roberto Ma. R. Buenconsejo
St. Ignatius Of Loyola’S Engagement With Mystagogy, Roberto Ma. R. Buenconsejo
Landas
Ignatius of Loyola’s spiritual progress unfolded as a transformative mystagogical journey shaped by two decisive conversions that prepared him for the illuminative stage and unitive life. His first conversion followed the battle of Pamplona, when he turned from a sinful past toward an initial desire to follow Christ to Jerusalem. This conversion, however, remained marked by narcissism and externalism. A second and more radical conversion occurred in Manresa, involving the purification of his self-propelled perfectionism. During this period, Ignatius entered the purgative stage through active asceticism and a painful passive purification characterized by scrupulosity and deep depression rooted in the …
Contextualizing Ecumenism In The Philippines Through Loob And Kapwa, Roy John R. Del Rosario
Contextualizing Ecumenism In The Philippines Through Loob And Kapwa, Roy John R. Del Rosario
Landas
The two-fold ecumenical approach – inter-ecclesial ecumenism (Global North) and trans-ecclesial ecumenism (Global South) – reaches its limitations when viewed through the Philippine context. This gap refers to the distinct ecumenical challenges that need to be addressed. Thus, this study proposes a unique ecumenical model that integrates the inclusive ethos of loob and kapwa. Appropriating Stephen Bevans’ synthetic model of contextual theology, the author argues that this proposed framework takes advantage of the existing models’ contributory insights while addressing their conceptual deficiencies. It considers the shared charismatic experiences between Protestants and Catholics as loci theologici or resources of theology that …
Prayer And Self-Communication: Revisiting Joseph Ratzinger’S Eucharistic Ecclesiology, Antonio Esquillon
Prayer And Self-Communication: Revisiting Joseph Ratzinger’S Eucharistic Ecclesiology, Antonio Esquillon
Landas
This article explores the Eucharistic Ecclesiology of Joseph Ratzinger, which takes its bearings from Christology. It discusses how Ratzinger understands the Church as fundamentally originating from the prayer of Jesus, which assumes its supreme expression in His Eucharistic self-communication. The communication and communicability of the Body of Christ finally draws out the intrinsic connection between Christology, Pneumatology, and Ecclesiology, so central in Ratzinger’s Eucharistic Ecclesiology.
Structural Parallels Between Populism And Catholicism: Vox Populi, Vox Dei, Jose Mario C. Francisco
Structural Parallels Between Populism And Catholicism: Vox Populi, Vox Dei, Jose Mario C. Francisco
Landas
Why do populist groups attract religion as a partner or foe? Responses to this question often remain on the functional level and primarily stress the material content of populist and religious doctrines. Thus, they generate heated partisan polemics rather than enlightening insight. This multidisciplinary study focuses on the structural parallels in gathering people and discovering their authoritative will in the body politic and religious. First, it notes the family resemblance in their composition. Given the populist association of ‘the people’ with the nation, the authoritative will of the people serves as its ground and goal. The Christian ekklesia or gathered …

Agha, Jantson Hoh, Abdulmutalib Alabeed Allaq, Amjad Abdulhadi Mohammed, Muneer Mohammed Saleh Alsayadi
AUIQ Complementary Biological System
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are widely used in regenerative medicine due to their self-renewal capacity, multilineage differentiation potential, and paracrine activity. Limitations associated with the sourcing and scalability of human MSCs have increased interest in xenogeneic alternatives, particularly sheep umbilical cord–derived MSCs (sUC-MSCs). These cells display high proliferative capacity, stable karyotypes, and a typical MSC immunophenotype (CD44, CD73, CD90, CD105), with low basal immunogenicity. sUC-MSCs exhibit osteogenic, chondrogenic, and adipogenic differentiation potential and secrete angiogenic and immunomodulatory factors, including VEGF, HGF, IGF-1, TGF-β, and IL-10. Owing to their biological similarities to human MSCs and accessibility from perinatal tissue, …

Asia Marketing Journal
This study examines the impact of Distribution Strategy on SME performance, with Digital Marketing and Open Innovation as mediating variables. Using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), data were analyzed from 250 SMEs in Makassar, Indonesia. The results show that Distribution Strategy positively affects performance, both directly and indirectly through Open Innovation. However, Digital Marketing does not serve as a significant mediator, indicating that its use among SMEs may still be limited to tactical functions. Open Innovation emerges as the strongest contributor, highlighting its role in converting distribution capabilities into performance gains. The study enriches Resource Advantage (R-A) Theory …

“It’S A Dupe, Not A Counterfeit!” An Exploration Of Motives For Dupe Consumption Motives, Jungyong Ahn
Asia Marketing Journal
This study was designed to explore consumer motives for dupe consumption and to measure the influence of these identified motives on consumer satisfaction with dupe products and intention to sharing dupe products. Through a literature review and in-depth interviews, five key consumer motives were anticipated: (1) self-protection, (2) saving money, (3) anti-materialism, (4) mimicry, and (5) enjoyment. Corresponding measurement items were developed to assess these motives. A factor analysis conducted on survey data collected from 300 respondents successfully confirmed the extraction of these five motives as expected. Moreover, regression analysis further demonstrated the statistically significant positive impact of these motives …
The Impact Of Sense Of Power On Consumer Click-Through Intention Under Ai Personalized Recommendation, Li Li, Dhakir Abbas Ali
The Impact Of Sense Of Power On Consumer Click-Through Intention Under Ai Personalized Recommendation, Li Li, Dhakir Abbas Ali
Asia Marketing Journal
This study investigates how consumers' sense of power influences their click-through intentions in AI-driven personalized recommendation systems. While prior research has explored personalized marketings impact on consumer behavior, the role of perceived power remains understudied. Through scenario-based experiments, we find that a heightened sense of power enhances engagement with AI recommendations, with self-efficacy as a key mediator. However, this effect weakens when privacy concerns are high, highlighting privacy as a critical moderating factor. Specifically, empowered consumers are more likely to interact with AI recommendations, but only when privacy risks are minimal. These findings deepen our understanding of consumer-AI interactions, emphasizing …

Blockchain-Based Peer-To-Peer Renewable Energy Trading And Traceability Of Transmission And Distribution Losses, Amit Kumar Vishwakarma, Pratyush Kumar Patro, Adolf Acquaye, Raja Jayaraman, Khaled Salah
Industrial Engineering: Faculty & Staff Publications
In attempts to progress the transition towards decarbonizing energy systems and achieving sustainable development goals linked to energy, renewable energy sources (RES), which are decentrally deployed, are being widely promoted. However, RES are constrained by many barriers, some of which are technical in nature, such as energy losses. For instance, traditional peer-to-peer (P2P) trading systems have been used as a mechanism to advance RES because they offer a promising solution for decentralized energy trading without third-party intermediaries. However, it faces significant challenges, notably in accounting for energy losses during transmission and distribution, thus reducing overall system efficiency. We propose an …

All Decisions
In this nonpayment proceeding, the court granted the tenant's pre-answer motion to dismiss the petition. The landlord's Notice of Petition was deemed defective for failing to comply with the mandatory form prescribed by 22 NYCRR § 208.42(b) and Administrative Order 163/19. The court found that even minor deviations from the standard form were fatal to the proceeding and rejected the landlord's attempt to amend the defective notice. Consequently, the petition was dismissed without prejudice to the landlord's underlying claims.

Negotiating Sacred Space: Monastic Endurance And The Spatial Politics Of Sistematizare In 1980s Bucharest, Symantha G. Byrd
Theses and Dissertations
Under Ceaușescu's 1980s Sistematizare program, Bucharest's Orthodox monasteries sustained sacred life through "negotiated resilience": ritual repetition and spatial adaptation under surveillance and constrained visibility. Văcărești, Mihai Vodă, and Antim map a spectrum—erasure, relocation/concealment, and institutional negotiation—complicating binaries of resistance and collaboration.

"Catching Up": Christian Walker's Critical Lens, Noam Parness
Theses and Dissertations
“Catching Up” examines three bodies of photographic work that artist, critic, and curator Christian Walker (1953-2003) generated between 1984-1991. By reading each series against a corresponding text, “Catching Up” furthers an understanding of how Walker’s works reconstruct experiences and histories of race and sexuality in the United States.
