EGFR-mutant lung adenocarcinomas (LUADs) that are vulnerable to the EGFR antagonist osimertinib (Osi) eventually relapse, owing in part to the emergence of drug-tolerant persister (DTP) cells that arise through epigenetic mechanisms. Intratumoral DTP cells can herald a worse clinical outcome, but the way in which DTP cells influence LUAD progression remains unclear. Osi-resistant (OR) cells exhibit typical DTP cell features, including a propensity to undergo senescence and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), which can activate heightened secretory states. Therefore, we postulated that OR cells influence LUAD progression through paracrine mechanisms. To test this hypothesis, we utilized congenic pairs of EGFR-mutant LUAD cell …

The emergence of effective immunotherapies has drastically revolutionized clinical management of many cancer types. Among them, chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy (CTT), as a groundbreaking approach, has been considered as a “living drug,” displaying unprecedented clinical outcomes with hematological malignancies, including B cell leukemia and lymphomas, and multiple myeloma. Despite the high remission rates and improved survival achieved with hematological cancers, the effectiveness of CTT in solid tumors remains largely unsatisfactory. The efficacy of CTT in solid tumors is significantly challenged by multiple factors, including tumor-antigen heterogeneity, limited T cell trafficking and infiltration, a highly immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, and …

This Essay, written for the “Who Governs Debt’s Dominion” symposium, looks back on Debt’s Dominion: A History of Bankruptcy Law in America as the twenty-fifth anniversary of the book’s publication nears. The Essay begins, in Part I, by briefly describing how Debt’s Dominion came about. Part II identifies and seeks to explain a striking decline in optimism about American bankruptcy law since Debt’s Dominion was first published. Part III explores a few of the major recent developments in consumer bankruptcy, small business bankruptcy, and large-scale corporate reorganization that I would have analyzed in the book if it were written today. …

This article provides a comparative, normative-evaluative examination of how sustainability is being incorporated into European competition law. Combining doctrinal legal analysis with economic reasoning, it clarifies competing definitions of sustainability, maps the contest between the consumer-welfare paradigm and sustainability proponents, and evaluates the legal and institutional implications of the Commission’s 2023 Horizontal Cooperation Guidelines. Drawing on national initiatives across Member States plus the UK, the study highlights contrasting instruments, from Austria’s statutory environmental exemption to the Dutch soft-law safe harbour and Greece’s experimental sustainability sandbox, and shows how these divergent approaches produce fragmentation and legal uncertainty for cross-border cooperative initiatives. …

Adult community intellectual disability services in the United Kingdom (UK) are required to deliver specialist, evidence-based care for a variety of conditions while minimising restrictive practices and reliance on inpatient provision. Care pathway models have emerged as a potential mechanism to reconcile these aims yet remain under-used in care philosophies in intellectual disabilities. We propose a generalisable pathways model for community intellectual disability services and examine its implications for policy, clinical practice, and research. Low back pain (LBP) is a leading cause of disability, and treatment often involves a combination of pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies. Acupuncture is a medical treatment and ideology rooted in traditional Chinese medicine that utilizes applying small needles or pressure to specific points in the body. Utilized as an adjunct to supplement standard medical care, acupuncture is a procedure that can be done in a primary care setting. Multiple studies have shown efficacy in treating acute or chronic back pain, with up to 1.5% of the US population having used acupuncture at one point.

Rare Presentation Of Omental Tuberculosis With Drug-Induced Jaundice In A Teenage Female: A Case Report, Archana Venkatesan, Krishna Ravi

Advances in Clinical Medical Research and Healthcare Delivery

Omental tuberculosis (TB) is a rare form of abdominal TB, often presenting with nonspecific symptoms that mimic malignancies. We report a case of a 16-year-old female from India who presented with abdominal distension, vomiting, weight loss, and amenorrhea. Imaging revealed an abdominal mass, and a diagnosis of omental TB was confirmed via histopathology. This case highlights the diagnostic challenge posed by such atypical presentations, especially in TB-endemic regions. The patient also developed rifampicin-induced jaundice, which resolved upon drug cessation and supportive care. Anti-TB therapy was cautiously reintroduced at a modified dose. In the wake of Rucho v. Common Cause, partisan gerrymandering remains a nonjusticiable political question. This retreat from judicial oversight leaves a significant gap in the protection of democratic governance. The United States Constitution, as currently interpreted, offers little substantive support for voters’ rights as such. Courts locate the right to vote in the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, but that Clause protects equal access to voting rights—not meaningful participation, representation, or influence; it requires scrutiny only where legislatures rely on unconstitutional criteria to classify voters. This paper offers specific recommendations for effectively motivating and retaining student employees at an academic library that practitioners may consider as they develop and implement programs for hiring, training, and retaining student assistants at their institutions. It describes a methodology that can be replicated for similar studies at other universities. Despite women comprising the majority of the nursing workforce in Saudi Arabia, they remain under-represented in leadership roles. This narrative review explores the barriers and facilitators to women's advancement in nursing leadership within the framework of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030. Key challenges include cultural norms, gender bias, limited recognition, and lack of leadership training. Facilitators such as national mentorship programs, leadership academies, and public image reforms offer promise. The review underscores the need for targeted nvestments in education, structured leadership pathways, and adaptation of international models to empower Saudi female nurses and support inclusive health system transformation.

Alternative Project Delivery Methods (APDMs) are increasingly being recognized as effective alternatives to the traditional Design-Bid-Build (DBB) approach for transportation projects. As APDMs gain traction among California’s transportation agencies, understanding the legislative frameworks that enable their use and the characteristics of each method is critical. This study benchmarks the existing use of APDMs in California transportation agencies of varying types and sizes, while considering the characteristics (advantages and barriers/challenges to implementation) of each APDM and the authorizations enabling its implementation. As global climate targets tighten and state regulations accelerate, hydrogen technology presents a significant opportunity to help California supply chain and transportation stakeholders comply with state emissions mandates and global goals aimed to reduce the impacts of climate change. However, while fuel cell costs and infrastructure have received attention, workforce development remains overlooked. Hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) are especially promising for diesel-reliant sectors that are hard to decarbonize without negatively impacting operational efficiency. The American judicial system sanctions the theft of objects of immense cultural value from source nations—countries whose modern borders encompass territory previously inhabited by culturally rich civilizations—by allowing the allegedly equitable doctrine of laches to serve as an affirmative defense to actions brought by foreign sovereigns in replevin.

Courts have treated laches as a valid affirmative defense in foreign-sovereign-plaintiff replevin actions, treating the foreign sovereigns no differently than they would a private citizen bringing suit for a piece of artwork.
