Introduction: The US Physical therapist (PT) workforce lacks racial and ethnic diversity, which may contribute to health disparities. Holistic review (HR) admission methods may improve workforce diversity by evaluating applicants' academic metrics, experiences, and personal attributes. Holistic review processes must adapt following the 2023 Supreme Court ruling prohibiting race-based admission criteria.

Review of literature: Holistic review criteria are program-specific and align with institutional and programmatic goals. While HR is shown to improve student body diversity, most PT education programs heavily emphasize academic metrics, which may disadvantage racial and ethnic minority (REM) applicants from acceptance. Forensic tools like Cellebrite are commonly used in court to gather and interpret raw data for evidence. Cellebrite does not only collect data but creates and interprets the artifacts of data to create a scene of the process it has been through. With this, evidence can be influenced by software designs and not just the data on the mobile device. Courts and police use Cellebrite to gather evidence and reconstruct it to create an easily readable dataset. These tools lack reproducibility, transparency, integrity, and chain of evidence command. Montana residents maintain a broadly positive outlook on tourism, with 66% agreeing that tourism's benefits outweigh its drawbacks and 72% recognizing the economic value of state-supported tourism promotion. However, resident sentiment remains nuanced: 45% report concerns about overcrowding, and fewer than half (36%) believe increased tourism would improve their personal quality of life — a trend consistent across four consecutive years.

Regional divides are pronounced. Communities near high-visitation destinations such as Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park express greater skepticism toward tourism growth, while lower-visitation regions, including Central Montana, Southeast Montana, and Missouri River Country, hold more favorable views …

This article examines the role and status of Islamic law (Sharia) in Kazakhstan, a Muslim-majority country that has consistently maintained a strictly secular legal order. The background of the study is grounded in the apparent paradox between Kazakhstan’s Islamic historical heritage and the complete absence of Sharia from its formal legal system. The objective of the research is to explain how and why Islamic law has remained confined to private, moral, and ritual domains while being excluded from state legislation and judicial practice. Identifying telomere biology disorders (TBDs) in patients with aplastic anaemia (AA) is essential for guiding appropriate care. Telomere length (TL) measurement by flow cytometry with fluorescence in situ hybridization supports diagnosis, but the real-world performance of the basic test (lymphocytes and granulocytes) versus the detailed test (which includes four lymphocyte subsets) remains unclear. We retrospectively reviewed 439 patients who underwent detailed TL testing at our institution from 2008 to 2022. Haematological disease was present in 87%, with AA comprising 56%. We classified 23 subjects with TBD independently of TL, only one of whom had severe AA (SAA) at initial presentation. …

Rab GTPases are key regulators of endosomal trafficking in eukaryotes. In mammalian cells, Rab4 and Rab7 were shown to localize to distinct compartments, with Rab4 on early endosomes for fast recycling and Rab7 on late endosomes for degradation. Here, we show that in Drosophila, endogenous Rab4 and Rab7 extensively colocalize across tissues and developmental stages. Recruited to the same compartments through mechanisms that do not require the activity of the other, they have opposing effects on endolysosomal size: Rab4 overexpression or Rab7 impairment leads to enlarged endolysosomes, whereas Rab4 loss or constitutively active Rab7 reduces their sizes. Objective: To validate a published risk calculator to predict cesarean delivery (CD) among singletons undergoing induction of labor.

Methods: Our retrospective cohort study included singletons undergoing induction of labor. A predicted CD score was calculated for each individual based on a previously developed calculator. External validation of the calculator was assessed by the discriminative power of the model by using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, and by a calibration curve. This study investigated public-school superintendents' perceptions of the challenges and issues associated with implementing strategic marketing plans in the state of Texas. Guided interviews were conducted to determine the role of strategic marketing along with strategies and outcomes experienced because of past marketing efforts in Texas schools. Results indicated that school superintendents wanted and needed to know considerably more about strategic marketing in public schools. Superintendents also expressed strong desires to participate in and engage with marketing behaviors that were increasingly perceived as critical for communication and for maintaining and growing respective school districts. DNA polymerase θ (Pol θ)-mediated end-joining (TMEJ), one of several pathways for repairing DNA double-strand breaks, is traditionally thought to initiate via anchoring at short, consecutive, and perfectly matched microhomologies (MHs). Emerging evidence indicates that Pol θ can utilize MHs containing mismatches both in vitro and in vivo. This revised definition of MH provides a mechanistic explanation for a broader spectrum of Pol θ-dependent repair outcomes. Background: The number and type of genetic alterations required to initiate breast and ovarian cancer remain unclear. While germline BRCA1/2 carriers show markedly elevated cancer risk, it is uncertain whether point mutations or copy number alterations constitute the rate-limiting events of tumourigenesis.

Methods: We developed a statistical framework extending prior incidence-mutation models to estimate the minimal number and type of driver events required for cancer initiation. Somatic mutation and copy-number data from >3000 breast and ovarian cancers in TCGA and METABRIC were compared between germline BRCA1/2 carriers and non-carriers matched on subtypes. This editorial builds on that insight by applying it to a critical yet still underexplored issue – one on which we hope to see more research in this journal: the role of multinational enterprises (MNEs) and global value chains (GVCs) in shaping economic inequality within developing economies. Why do foundations begin making program-related investments (PRIs)? This article answers that question by drawing on interviews with professionals at 36 U.S. foundations that recently began implementing PRIs.

While achieving positive impact is a central motivating factor, the study reveals it is uncommon for new PRI-makers to target impact uniquely tailored to PRIs, e.g., establishing a credit history for the recipient. Operational benefits, e.g., stretching the foundation’s financial resources, are more salient in the decision to undertake PRIs, even though such benefits are often marginal.

Community philanthropy is increasingly promoted as an alternative to institutional, top-down philanthropy, yet the term remains contested. In the Global North, it is typically associated with community foundations, while in the Global South the emphasis is on community itself.

This article offers a definition of community philanthropy as a practice rooted in context and power rather than a single institutional form. It identifies five transformative characteristics that distinguish community philanthropy from conventional giving and translates these principles into seven dimensions that can be used to identify and assess community philanthropy in practice.

Johnson, the Supreme Court held that the Eighth Amendment does not prohibit a city from enforcing a criminal ban on encampments on public property such as parks and sidewalks. But even if municipalities are now permitted to use tactics such as policing, encampment clearing, arrests, and imprisonment, these are not the right ways to address the problems of public homelessness.

The Indonesian Journal of Socio-Legal Studies

This article examines how courts lack uniform judicial standards for determining Upah Proses, which refers to wages payable during termination proceedings in Indonesia. Constitutional Court Decision No. 37/PUU-IX/2011 requires employers to pay Upah Proses until courts issue a final and binding judgment. However, subsequent instruments introduce conflicting limitations and ambiguous provisions, including Supreme Court Circular Letter No. 3 of 2015 and Law No. 6 of 2023. Such inconsistencies create normative disharmony across constitutional, statutory, and administrative frameworks. The absence of coherent interpretive guidance divides the judiciary, leading courts to issue divergent rulings, even in cases with similar factual circumstances. The …
