Integrating Future Factory-To-Factory (F2f) Manufacturing Through System Of Systems Engineering (Sose): A Framework For Capability Beyond Constituent Systems, Polinpapilinho F. Katina, Hengtao Tang Ph.D., Anouar Hallioui
Faculty Publications
System of Systems Engineering (SoSE) is an emerging discipline focused on the design, integration, and evolution of metasystems—composed of multiple autonomous yet interdependent systems. These systems of systems (SoS) offer capabilities that exceed those of any individual constituent systems by enabling synergistic coordination, interoperability, and dynamic adaptation across diverse operational contexts. This study pursued three primary objectives: (i) to examine the role of integration in enabling emergent capabilities beyond those of individual systems, (ii) to explore SoSE as a framework for orchestrating Future Factory-to-Factory (F2F) Manufacturing, and (iii) to assess the implications of SoSE to address volatile, uncertain, complex, and …

Mobility, Migration, And Cultural Political Economy: Personal Narratives Of Immigration Policy, Max Crumley-Effinger
Journal of Comparative & International Higher Education
This study embraces the opportunity to explore students’ immigration experiences from a cultural political economy (CPE) perspective, beginning with a review of literature relevant to understanding students’ perspectives of host nation international student mobility and migration (ISM) policy, followed by an outline of the CPE theoretical framework. The study’s methodology is presented, outlining how findings were obtained through a qualitative content analysis of interviews with 40 international students studying in Australia, Canada, and the United States. Findings are then presented through the words of study participants, highlighting how international students connect their ISM policy experiences with the local CPE contexts …

Translator Professional Identity Under Market Demands: A Qualitative Analysis Of Job Advertisements In The Saudi Translation Market, Dr. Saad Salem Alshamrani
UB Journal for Humanities
This study examines how the professional translator identity develops in the Saudi translation market through recruitment discourse. It employs a qualitative analysis approach of Saudi job advertisements to address the research objectives. The researcher compiled a corpus of sixty Arabic and English translation related job advertisements publicly published on certain major platforms across Saudi Arabia. The analysis of these advertisements aims to explore how the employer expectations shape out the professional roles, skills, competencies and values. Equally important, the analysis probed on how the job advertisements meticulously detail the market demands and professional criteria through recurring requirements and evaluative descriptors. …

The Muslim Woman In Diaspora And The Reconstruction Of Identity In Leila Aboulela’S Minaret, Mashhoor Abdu Al-Moghales
UB Journal for Humanities
Identity reconstruction frequently represents a major challenge for immigrants who settle in a new land. Leila Aboulela (b. 1964) presents the complexities faced by the diaspora of Muslim women in constructing a new identity that aligns with their new reality, without forgetting or affecting their original roots. In Minaret (2005), Aboulela highlights the strength and independence of the Muslim woman through her female character, Najwa, presenting Muslim women as successful and resilient, in defiance of prevailing stereotypes. Drawing on Lila Abu-Lughod’s anthropological critique in Do Muslim Women Need Saving? alongside Homi Bhabha’s theories of hybridity and the Third Space, the …
