Forensic tools like Cellebrite are commonly used in court to gather and interpret raw data for evidence. Cellebrite does not only collect data but creates and interprets the artifacts of data to create a scene of the process it has been through. With this, evidence can be influenced by software designs and not just the data on the mobile device. Courts and police use Cellebrite to gather evidence and reconstruct it to create an easily readable dataset. These tools lack reproducibility, transparency, integrity, and chain of evidence command. Objective: De novo mutations in the syntaxin-binding protein 1 (STXBP1), encoded by STXBP1, are among the most prevalent causes of variable neurodevelopmental disorders, including epileptic encephalopathy, developmental delay, and movement disorders. Although STXBP1 has been proposed as a critical presynaptic protein controlling synaptic vesicle exocytosis, clinical phenotypes also suggest that its biological function could be more diverse.

Methods: The expression pattern of STXBP1 was studied using immunostaining in vitro and in vivo. Synaptosome isolation was performed to investigate the synaptic and non-synaptic localization of STXBP1 in the brain. Rab GTPases are key regulators of endosomal trafficking in eukaryotes. In mammalian cells, Rab4 and Rab7 were shown to localize to distinct compartments, with Rab4 on early endosomes for fast recycling and Rab7 on late endosomes for degradation. Here, we show that in Drosophila, endogenous Rab4 and Rab7 extensively colocalize across tissues and developmental stages. Recruited to the same compartments through mechanisms that do not require the activity of the other, they have opposing effects on endolysosomal size: Rab4 overexpression or Rab7 impairment leads to enlarged endolysosomes, whereas Rab4 loss or constitutively active Rab7 reduces their sizes. Around the world, women and girls are being victimized by pornographic deepfakes— alarmingly convincing, sexually exploitative images and videos generated using artificial intelligence (AI). Facing statutory gaps, victims may turn to traditional tort law claims to recover for the injuries inflicted by pornographic deepfakes. Defamation law, which protects against reputational injuries caused by false statements, is a particularly compelling arena for vindicating the interests invaded by a pornographic deepfake—interests which are, at their heart, social and reputational. Drawing on in-depth key informant interviews with three former or current government officials, this learning paper responds to the following questions:

1. How did Kenya establish a standalone legal framework on female genital mutilation (FGM)?
2. How was the political and wider support needed to advance the legislation built?
3. How was the Anti-FGM Board established and made operational?
4. How was the Anti-FGM Board sustained across political and institutional change?

Learnings from the government officials accounts are used to trace the history of Kenya’s anti-FGM response, and have been documented as lessons for other countries to apply toward their end-FGM efforts.

While the U.S. healthcare system typically imposes significant out-of-pocket costs, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires full insurance coverage for certain preventive health services (PHS), including cancer screenings, without cost-sharing. Despite this policy, one in four eligible Americans remains unscreened for breast, colorectal, and cervical cancer, which increases their risk of premature death. We hypothesize that a lack of awareness about the ACA’s free care requirement contributes to this gap and that explicitly informing patients could increase screening uptake. Differentiated instruction (DI) is widely promoted as a means of supporting diverse learners, yet its enactment for multilingual learners (MLs) remains uneven and under-theorized in mainstream classrooms. This study examines how DI is conceptualized and implemented to support MLs by attending to learners’ linguistic, cultural, and academic profiles. Using reflexive thematic analysis, this qualitative synthesis examines 20 peer-reviewed empirical studies published between 2010 and 2024 in English-medium K–12 contexts in the United States, with particular attention to elementary settings when specified. Multilingual learners with disabilities (MLWDs) face substantial barriers to reading comprehension given the intersecting challenges of language acquisition and disability (Artzi et al., 2022; Frates et al., 2024). Students with disabilities often need explicit, strategy-based instruction with modeling, guided practice, and scaffolding (Frates et al., 2024; Wawire et al., 2024; Moura, 2024). When learners are also multilingual, interventions must be linguistically accessible and responsive to diverse cognitive profiles (Moura, 2024; Sarisahin, 2020). App-based rideshare platforms’ rapid expansion has transformed gig work from a temporary, flexible labor model into a sustained form of employment that serves as the primary source of income for millions of workers. Despite this evolution, leaders in the rideshare industry continue to classify drivers as independent contractors, thereby avoiding statutory obligations related to minimum wage, overtime, unemployment insurance, workers’ compensation, and healthcare benefits. This Comment argues that as platform-based labor becomes more permanent and economically dependent, the continued reliance on independent contractor classification becomes increasingly inconsistent with the governing legal standards designed to distinguish employees from independent contractors.

This Article chronicles my experimental adoption of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in first-year Contracts. After three decades of conventional teaching, I observed that Gen Z students struggled to transition from undergraduate memorization strategies to law school-level analytical reasoning, prompting my desire to engage in a fundamental pedagogical change. Drawing on successful PBL implementations in medical and mathematics education, I restructured my Contracts course around collaborative problem-solving in small groups, transforming my role from lecturer to facilitator. Students worked through authentic legal scenarios at whiteboards, developing rule-based reasoning through active engagement rather than passive reception.

This article traces the historical development of the “arising out of” and “relate to” nexus requirements, examines the evolution of state long- arm statutes following International Shoe Co., and analyzes the origins and judicial interpretation of C.P.L.R. § 302(a). It argues that New York’s statutory scheme no longer fully reflects the constitutional scope of specific jurisdiction as articulated by the Supreme Court. It takes as its starting point the pioneering initiative of Fatima Sadiqi, who founded the first women's research center (1996) and the first gender studies unit (2000) at the University of Fez. These structures aimed to introduce the concept of gender into the humanities and social sciences to deconstruct sociocultural obstacles to equality. This dialogical article examines persistent challenges in engaging racism, colonialism, and white supremacy within the theory and practice of Philosophy for/with Children (P4/wC). Framed as a mutual interview between two long-standing colleagues, the dialogue revisits formative encounters in the P4/wC community and situates them within broader intellectual traditions, including American pragmatism, deliberative democracy, and Africana philosophy. Drawing on personal experience, archival material, and critical scholarship, the authors interrogate the metaphilosophical assumptions underpinning the “community of inquiry,” particularly its commitments to reasonableness, consensus, and democratic dialogue. Colorenal fistula is a rare condition resulting from chronic inflammation, malignancies, diverticulitis, or infection. This case examines a 68-year-old female with a history of urinary urgency, left back pain, and recurrent urinary tract infections. Anteroposterior non-contrast computed tomography scan showed a large stone in the renal pelvis and gas in the collecting system. Left ureteroscopy revealed multiple ureteral polyps. Retrograde pyelogram revealed contrast filling the left colon. Ureteral polyp biopsies were benign, and colonoscopy was negative for malignancy. This case describes the occurrence of a colorenal fistula in a patient with no history of surgery, malignancy, or diverticulitis.

Scholarship on ethnic disparities in the criminal justice system has predominantly focused on disparities at a single decision-making point, mainly at sentencing, while earlier decision points remain underexamined or are studied in isolation to sentencing decisions. Using linked Ministry of Justice Data First datasets from criminal courts in England and Wales, this study assesses ethnic disparities at multiple decision points—from pre-sentencing to sentencing. Findings from multilevel logistic regression models demonstrate ethnic disparities across decision points, evidencing more pronounced disparities at pre-sentencing stages. Black and mixed ethnicity defendants consistently experience more disadvantaged outcomes, being more likely to be detained prior to …

This study aimed to determine the prevalence of FAs in PHCs in Muscat Governorate, Oman, and to identify their demographic, socioeconomic and clinical characteristics. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted across 10 randomly selected PHCs in Muscat from January to December 2024. Educators from University Laboratory High School (University of Illinois UrbanaChampaign) will share how HCD fosters empathy, innovation, and critical thinking across disciplines—including math,  fine arts and civics/social studies.  Also, in partnership with the university’s Siebel Center for Design, HCD has been employed to support school improvement.
