A letter of Albertus C. Van Raalte to the Holland community which was published in De Hollander on November 30, 1850, volume I, number 9. V.R. said that the Hollanders were being deprived of national news and consequently of knowledge of American life because this community had no newspaper. Therefore, the publishers have established this paper. V.R. has been asked to write a column for it.
