Pediatric acquired subglottic stenosis is a high-risk airway condition that requires close coordination between anesthesiology and otorhinolaryngology teams, particularly during endoscopic interventions performed under shared-airway conditions. This report describes the interdisciplinary management and anesthetic–surgical coordination in a child with severe acquired subglottic stenosis undergoing endoscopic balloon dilation, highlighting key decision points and airway management strategies. A 2-year-old boy with a history of prolonged and repeated endotracheal intubations presented with persistent dyspnea and noisy breathing, consistent with fixed extrathoracic airway obstruction. The case was reviewed in a multidisciplinary pediatric difficult-airway meeting, and operative management consisted of endoscopic airway evaluation and balloon …

Dwarf spheroidal galaxies (dSphs) are excellent targets for indirect dark matter (DM) searches using gamma-ray telescopes because they are thought to have high DM content and a low astrophysical background. The sensitivity of these searches is improved by combining the observations of dSphs made by different gamma-ray telescopes. We present the results of a combined search by the most sensitive currently operating gamma-ray telescopes, namely: the satellite-borne Fermi-LAT telescope; the ground-based imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescope arrays H.E.S.S., MAGIC, and VERITAS; and the HAWC water Cherenkov detector. This paper describes an acoustic dataset collected on a frozen shallow freshwater lake between February and March of 2024. This collection took place over one full week on Portage Lake in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, USA. The first sub-dataset consists of ambient ice and environmental noises collected by an array of hydrophones, microphones and geophones placed below, above and on the ice respectively. The second sub-dataset consists of instrumented force hammer impacts at a series of locations on the the ice with the corresponding response at each acoustic sensor. Constructivist psychology has long demonstrated the potential for play to offer various benefits to learning. This study introduced active game-based learning experiences, in the form of role-playing games, into an undergraduate history course that also included passive lecture and discussion elements. Mixed methods student feedback surveys were used to examine the impacts of game-based learning on students’ affective and cognitive engagement in the course and offer a comparison between the lecture and game-based learning experiences. In this article, we propose a novel numerical framework for the non-isothermal Cahn–Hilliard–Navier–Stokes two-phase flow system, which couples the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations, the Cahn–Hilliard phase-field equation, and the heat transport equation to capture temperature-dependent two-phase flow dynamics. The pro-posed scheme achieves three major advances: (i) unconditional energy stability through a combined scalar auxiliary variable (SAV) and zero-energy-contribution (ZEC) approach, (ii) linearity and full decoupling of all variables while using a second-order temporal discretization, and (iii) efficient implementation via discontinuous Galerkin (DG) spa-tial discretization together with a second-order projection method for the Navier–Stokes equations. The undertenant, claiming domestic violence victim status and an informal marriage to the primary tenant in a Section 8 rent-stabilized unit, moved to dismiss a holdover proceeding, citing improper VAWA and CARES Act notices. The court denied the motion, ruling the undertenant lacked standing to assert VAWA defenses due to failure to establish a colorable claim to succession rights. The court further held that VAWA protections apply only to applicants and tenants, not occupants, and the CARES Act’s 30-day notice provision is for nonpayment, not holdover, proceedings. The undertenant was granted leave to file an answer.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) develops through both conventional adenoma-carcinoma and serrated neoplasia pathways, yet noninvasive screening still under-detects the advanced precursor lesions that enable true cancer prevention. Stool-based screening reduces CRC mortality, but its preventive impact remains constrained by limited detection of advanced precancerous lesions (APLs), including advanced adenomas and sessile serrated lesions. Next-generation multitarget stool DNA assays (mt-sDNA; e.g., Cologuard Plus) have established high sensitivity for CRC and specificity approaching 94%, leaving improved APL detection as the principal opportunity for innovation. This report explores how screen production educators in the ASPERA community are responding to the rapid integration of generative Artificial Intelligence (genAI) in teaching and learning. Framed by Sean Cubitt’s (2020) notion of Common Intelligence, we investigate two guiding questions: How are students engaging with genAI tools in their productions, and what are the implications for educators? Methodologically, we engaged in qualitative professional dialogue with screen practice educators through three mechanisms during the 2024 ASPERA Conference: lightning provocations, an anonymous Mentimeter survey, and a facilitated roundtable discussion. Purpose: NRG/RTOG 1016 was a phase III randomized noninferiority de-escalation trial comparing cetuximab versus cisplatin, concurrent with accelerated radiation 70 Gy/6 weeks, in p16+ oropharyngeal cancer. Quality of life (QOL) was a secondary endpoint.
Methods and materials: Eligible/consenting patients among the first 400 entered completed the EORTC QLQ-C30/H&N35 at baseline, end of treatment, 3, 6, and 12 months posttreatment, to provide 90% power to detect an effect size of 0.5 in the between-arm change in QOL scores from baseline to 6 months. How do minimum wage changes affect workplace amenities? Using the universe of claims from California, the US’ largest workers’ compensation system, over 2000-2019, we exploit geographic variation in state- and city-level minimum wages and local occupation-level variation in exposure to minimum wage changes to estimate whether minimum wage increases affect the rate of workplace injuries. We find a large adverse effect of raising minimum wages on injuries. A 10% increase in the minimum wage increases the injury rate by 7.2% in an occupation-metro area labor market which is fully exposed to the minimum wage increase. Our results imply an elasticity …

This empirical legal study investigates challenges related to determining applicable law in multistate precision medicine research. Through interviews with experts in law, research ethics, and human subjects protections, the authors examine how differences in state laws governing research, genetic privacy, and data protection may affect participant rights and research practices. Interviewees reported varying levels of awareness regarding state law variation and expressed differing views on its significance. The findings suggest that uncertainty surrounding applicable legal frameworks can complicate research design, informed consent processes, and institutional oversight. The study calls for further legal and policy analysis to address these challenges and …

Large-scale software systems produce vast volumes of logs and telemetry, making manual incident triage slow and error prone. This study presents an unsupervised anomaly detection pipeline that fuses logs, metrics, and traces through late fusion. Using Hybrid Ensemble modeling with Isolation Forest, and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) Deep Learning model, the system detects cross-service anomalies producing and assigning a composite triage score reflecting severity and impact. Ranked alerts are categorized into Critical, High, or Medium priorities for review. A retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) layer enriches results with contextual summaries for explainable triage.
