In rural nursing programs, student exposure to diverse cultures is limited, which can hinder development of cultural competence. Artificial intelligence (AI) simulation is an evidence-based strategy to improve cultural competence and clinical decision-making, a practice gap exists due to lack of structured, accessible tools. This quality improvement project evaluated whether Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT)–based structured prompts would increase culturally inclusive simulation activities and improve faculty perceptions of usefulness and ease of use at a rural community college. Background & Significance: Management of do-not-resuscitate (DNR) orders during the perioperative period presents ongoing ethical and clinical challenges. Variability in provider knowledge and documentation can compromise patient autonomy and safety. Despite institutional policies, such as Barnes-Jewish Hospital’s “Goals of Care Directive,” inconsistent adherence remains common.

Review of Literature Findings: Evidence reveals that limited provider education contributes to uncertainty in managing perioperative DNRs. Studies by Baumann et al. (2017), Chappell et al. (2023), and Crowe and Marsh (2023) support targeted educational interventions to improve provider competence and consistency with national guidelines regarding required reconsideration.

Background: Smoking is one of the leading global public health problems, and is complicated by multiple reasons for its prevalence and associated health problems. An understanding of the influence of smoking activity on weight management is essential to formulate successful health programs. Aim: The objective of the present study was the investigation of the association between smoking habits and weight management among adult people who smoke in the UAE. The court found that the renewal lease offers were improper because the landlord failed to provide an initial stabilized lease and the renewals lacked mandatory components, such as a stabilization rider and registration statement, thereby justifying the tenant's refusal to sign. The court also noted that the rent calculation should adhere to HSTPA amendments.

BACKGROUND: Cardiomyocytes, as highly specialized and differentiated somatic cells, possess a limited capacity for renewal. Neonatal rodents possess the ability to regenerate cardiomyocytes after injury; however, this regenerative capacity declines rapidly with cardiomyocyte maturation, suggesting an inhibitory network between cellular maturation and cardiomyocyte proliferation. Maturing cardiomyocytes undergo a metabolic shift from predominantly glycolysis in the neonatal state to increased fatty acid oxidation in the mature state, which poses a barrier to cardiomyocyte proliferation and cardiac regenerative repair. YAP, a transcriptional cofactor regulated by the Hippo signaling pathway, promotes cardiac regenerative repair. We investigated the role of YAP in mediating metabolic …

This thesis examines how Russia has employed reflexive control through cyber operations to influence decision-making in foreign states, focusing on disinformation campaigns during the 2014 annexation of Crimea and the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Reflexive control, a concept rooted in Russian military doctrine, seeks to shape an adversary's perceptions and decision-making by providing carefully crafted information that leads targets to make choices favorable to the initiator. This research argues that while the fundamental objectives of reflexive control have remained consistent, technological advances have significantly expanded Russia's ability to conduct operations in developing cyber domains.

Study region: The eastern peripheral area between the most downstream stream gages and the open water body of the Great Salt Lake (GSL), located in northern Utah within the semiarid western United States (US). 

Study focus: As GSL levels decline, the eastern peripheral area is expanding, exposing former lakebed, much of which has transitioned into natural and managed wetlands. Evapotranspiration (ET) from these wetlands consumes water that would otherwise reach the open-water lake body, yet these losses remain poorly quantified and directly affect the GSL water balance. This study aimed to identify and classify airborne bacteria in outdoor air within the campus of the University of Baghdad, Iraq, using the passive sampling technique. Air samples were collected from ten sites and analyzed by the 16S rRNA gene sequencing technique. The results revealed significant seasonal differences in both microbial and particulate matter concentrations. Bacterial concentrations were considerably higher during the wet season, with 3238.6 CFU/m³ compared to the dry season, with 1872.6 CFU/m³. PM2.5 levels averaged 47.58 μg/m³ in the wet season and declined to 11.33 μg/m³ in the dry season, while PM10 …

The structural and electronic properties of graphene, h-BN monolayer, silicene, and phosphorene monolayers functionalized with Cu, Ag, Au, and Pt atomic wires were investigated using van der Waals─corrected density functional theory. These atomic wires form stable, functionalized monolayers that exhibit physisorption on planar monolayers and chemisorption on nonplanar ones. This results in either linear or bent configurations of the atomic wires, depending on the interface strength, leading to distinct electronic states. A weaker interface induces metal-induced gap states near the Fermi level, whereas a stronger interface results in covalently hybridized states farther from the Fermi level. The unifying theme of this dissertation is normal functions. In the first chapter, we study an invariant of knot exteriors and similar manifolds called the A-polynomial through the lens of vanishing loci of normal functions. Using a special case of the Zilber-Pink conjecture, proven in the second chapter, we show that only finitely many irreducible Laurent polynomials of bounded overgenus appear as factors of A-polynomials. In the third chapter, we construct normal functions from hypergeometric variations of Hodge structure and compute their regulators. Modern autonomous systems operating in highly dynamic, non-stationary environments require reliable inference from short, potentially corrupted time-series measurements, where conventional statistical methods relying on large-sample support and stationarity assumptions become fundamentally inapplicable. This dissertation develops a unified, model-free theoretical framework for time-series analysis, with a particular application to signal Direction-of-Arrival (DoA) estimation, grounded in structured matrix decompositions under both the L2-norm and L1-norm formulations.

The tenant sought discovery to determine if the premises constituted a horizontal multiple dwelling, which would subject it to rent stabilization. The appellate court found the lower court improvidently exercised its discretion, holding that the tenant demonstrated "ample need" for disclosure as the landlord possessed particular knowledge of the properties' ownership, management, and operation, and the tenant showed indicia of commonality between the buildings. The matter was remanded to the Civil Court to limit the scope of the overbroad discovery demands.

This study focuses on the synthesis, structural analysis and antibacterial properties of a composite comprising hydroxyapatite (HAp), polyethylene glycol (PEG) and chitosan (CTS). CTS was extracted from shrimp shells, and CaO for Hap was obtained from pensi shell. These composites were synthesized using the sol-gel method in situ by varying the concentrations of PEG (5, 10, 15, 20 and 25%) and CTS (1, 2, 3, 4, and 5%). The synthesized composites were characterized using FTIR, XRD, SEM-EDX, and TGA-DTA analyses, and their antimicrobial activities were also evaluated. Human cognition has been described in terms of content. This description becomes insufficient once artificial systems make output observable apart from subject attribution, intention, and relational context. Under this contrast condition, what becomes visible is a layered structure in which output, reconstruction, evaluation, and termination do not necessarily coincide. The same input may register as complete under one processing condition while remaining unresolved under another. This separability means that content-based description does not merely omit an additional variable: it can mislocate a processing difference as a difference in meaning, personality, intention, ability, or attitude. Type 1 conventional dendritic cells (cDC1s) are a subset of antigen-presenting cells required for the activation of T cells during anti-viral and anti-tumoral immune responses. cDC1s specialize in cross-presentation (XP), or the MHC-I presentation of exogenous antigens, which allows them to prime antigen-specific CD8+ T cells. In classical MHC-I presentation, cytosolic antigens are processed through the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), relying on both proteasomes and transport associated with antigen processing (TAP). Background and objectives: Previous studies, including large cohort analyses comparing vaccinated and unvaccinated adults, suggest that routine immunizations such as inactivated influenza vaccines (IIVs) may reduce Alzheimer dementia (AD) risk. Whether AD risk differs after high-dose IIV (H-IIV) vs standard-dose IIV (S-IIV) remains unexamined. We hypothesized that AD risk would be lower among adults ≥65 years after H-IIV compared with S-IIV.
