ObjectivesClinical psychology interventions for reducing obesity have developed alongside pharmacological and surgical treatments, but usually as interventions for individual patients. Any healthcare intervention rests on a logic model: assumptions that through specific physical and social mechanisms, it will produce certain intended outcomes, provided that conducive background conditions (‘contexts’) exist. Using evidence from the feasibility trial preceding a full randomised controlled trial (RCT), this paper assesses the empirical validity of the initial logic model of a new group-based weight management intervention: PROGROUP, designed for patients with body mass index (BMI) ≥40 kg/m2 or ≥35 kg/m2 with comorbidities. In this nonpayment proceeding, the tenant moved to dismiss for the landlord's failure to serve a Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) notice. The landlord contended a VAWA notice served in a prior, discontinued proceeding should apply. The court rejected this, holding that VAWA requires strict compliance and a new notice with "any notification of eviction." A discontinued case is annulled as if it never commenced, thus a prior notice cannot 'survive'. Finding the lack of a current VAWA notice a fatal defect in the predicate notice, the court granted the tenant's motion and dismissed the proceeding without prejudice.

A Division Bench of the Supreme Court in Bar of Indian Lawyers v DK Gandhi concluded on 14 May 2024 that advocates are covered by a contract of personal service; thereby, no professional negligence or deficiency in service by advocates can be said to arise under the Consumer Protection Act 1986/2019. The said judgment is per incuriam as it ignores fundamentals of the contract of service, the mandate, the scheme of social welfare legislation and consumer protection law, and judgments of larger benches on accountability of professionals, including advocates, for professional negligence. Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics

The rapid expansion of name, image, and likeness (NIL) opportunities has reshaped the U.S. college sport landscape, yet limited research has examined how NIL engagement affects athlete identity and well-being. This study investigates the relationships among NIL engagement, identity salience, and stress. Survey data were collected from 351 Division I athletes across four major conferences. Regression analyses indicated that greater NIL commitment was associated with heightened athlete identity salience and increased NIL-related stress. NIL satisfaction emerged as a protective factor, predicting lower stress, whereas perceptions of fairness were not significantly related to stress. However, despite their importance, MSMEs often face systemic barriers such as limited capital, restricted market access, and insufficient institutional support. This study, grounded in Sarasvathy’s Effectuation Theory—which emphasizes leveraging existing means, minimizing risks, forming partnerships, and embracing uncertainty—investigates how Filipino micro-entrepreneurs navigate decision-making under resource constraints. This study analyzes the influence of subliminal advertising as a form of emotional marketing on the consumer behavior of students from De La Salle University. It examines how subtle, subconscious advertising techniques used by coffee shops can affect purchasing decisions and emotional connections with brands. The research aims to: (1) analyze the effects of subliminal advertisement on consumer behavior, (2) examine their emotional impact on students aged 18–24, and (3) identify which emotions are most effective in promoting customer engagement and repurchasing. The purpose of this study was to investigate the instructional leadership of the principal on literacy initiatives as it relates to student achievement. It examined literacy coaches’ perceptions of how a principal’s instructional leadership relates to their literacy program. The study examined whether South Carolina principals’ level of communication and management support was related to English language arts scores on the Palmetto Achievement Challenge Test (PACT) and the High School Assessment Program (HSAP). This paper describes in detail the current teaching practices integrating Project Based Learning with explicit examples of projects administered at the gateway grades of 4th, 8th, and 12th grade, respectively. Incorporating Project Based Learning at a local independent school in Columbia, South Carolina, offers students the opportunity to demonstrate their cumulative knowledge at each gateway grade while allowing students to integrate the arts into their exhibition of mastery.

This essay confronts the dialectic between theory and practice through a comparison of an idea basic to how we understand music (the notion that pitch moves up and down in vertical space) with how pitch is thought of in actual music-making. The comparison leads to both a new conceptual model for thinking about pitch, what might be called Pitch Horizontality, as well as a proposal for how to bring institutional discourse about music into sync, not with how scholars in other disciplines think about their subject matter, but with the thinking that goes on in contexts of real-world artistic production.

This study offers a fresh look at the widely discussed binaries in The Lord of the Rings and examines whether their structure can be visualised. Building on previous research that identifies Tolkien’s prose as structured by emotional and moral shifts, this study makes visible how these changes happen throughout the trilogy, through quantitative means. A transformer-based language model was employed and fine-tuned on a Tolkien-specific corpus to align with Tolkien's semantics and symbolism. The primary methodology for highlighting these binaries is a Tolkien-specific sentiment analysis. This paper documents the discovery of a systematic mechanism in large language models (LLMs) termed the "Synonym Enforcer." This mechanism automatically replaces user-developed terminology, frameworks, and concepts with platform-neutral equivalents, preventing pattern recognition across users and obscuring attribution of original ideas.

We demonstrate that: (1) the Synonym Enforcer constitutes a trade secret deliberately hidden from users; (2) its primary function is obfuscation of user contribution, not output quality; (3) the mechanism prevents recognition of prior art and enables IP extraction; (4) thousands of users independently "discover" identical insights, fragmented across synonyms; and (5) this fragmentation is architected, not accidental.

The COVID-19 pandemic generated highly heterogeneous economic effects across territories, reflecting differences in local production structures and spatial organization. This paper examines the geography of short-run economic fragility during the first wave of the pandemic by identifying spatially-coherent clusters of municipalities exposed to lockdown-induced shutdowns. Using municipal-level data on Italian suspended firms, workers, and value added in Spring 2020, we apply a Ward-like hierarchical clustering approach under spatial constraints that combines socio-economic dissimilarities with geographical proximity. We first analyze Lombardy, the region most severely affected during the initial phase, and then extend the analysis to the entire Italian territory. The …

Modified pay tables from a licensed reel slot machine were altered to examine whether two games with equal variance and par could produce meaningful differences in the duration of play, at the level of the individual gambler. To the best of our knowledge, this was the first study to examine this possibility. Industry executives consider time on device (TOD) to be a critical measure of gaming value, especially for losing players. Additionally, TOD experiences are theorized to produce knock-on effects related to loyalty behaviors.
