Recreational beach use is important for coastal economies and is influenced by water clarity, a trait that may be maintained by water purification ecosystem services (ESs). However, few studies have addressed these linkages. In this study, we ask the following questions: (1) Do watershed-scale water purification ecosystem services influence coastal water quality? Effective dose calculation is essential for optimizing Gamma Knife (GK) stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) treatment plans. Modern GK systems allow independent sector activation, enabling complex dose distributions per shot. This study presents a dose approximation method designed to account for shot flexibility and generate 3D doses external to GammaPlan. A treatment plan was created with the TMR10 calculation for individual sector activations using a Radiosurgery Head Phantom. The resulting dose arrays established a basis set of sector-specific distributions, which were then referenced by shot parameters from the plan, allowing dose accumulation through superposition. Many species, including fruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster), are sexually dimorphic. Phenotypic variation in morphology, physiology, and behavior can affect development, reproduction, health, and aging. Therefore, designating sex as a variable and sex-blocking should be considered when designing experiments. The brain regulates phenotypes throughout the lifespan by balancing survival and reproduction, and sex-specific development at each life stage is likely. Changes in morphology and physiology are governed by differential gene expression, a quantifiable molecular marker for age- and sex-specific variations. Background/Significance: Drug-facilitated sexual assault (DFSA) involves substance use to incapacitate victims, with rapid drug metabolism necessitating prompt evidence collection. Delays in blood collection reduce toxicology detection rates, compromising legal outcomes. In one New York ED, DFSA kits (Part B) were routinely collected after biological evidence (Part A), creating a critical gap.

However, a standardized testing system for evaluating sowing machinery has not yet been established. A movable platform was built on a chassis made using sheet metal with different dimensions and profiles. Gram-negative bacteria, particularly Enterobacteriaceae, acquire antibiotic resistance via horizontal transmission of resistance genes in poultry farms that give rise to multidrug-resistant (MDR) strains. The presence of MDR strains that are potentially pathogenic and zoonotic poses a concern to animal and human health. The aims of this study were to isolate MDR, potentially pathogenic Enterobacteriaceae from Philippine native chicken (PNC) and to analyze the genome of a representative MDR isolate to gain insights into the mechanisms, acquisition, and transmissibility of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs). Using a soil culture method, this study investigated the morphoanatomical responses and phenotypic plasticity of Cardamine hupingshanensis (Brassicaceae) under different cadmium (Cd) concentrations. Root morphological indices initially increased at low Cd levels but decreased as Cd concentrations rose, exhibiting a low-promoting and high-inhibiting effect. Leaf morphology and biomass peaked at 5 or 10 mg kg^-1 Cd before decreasing at higher concentrations but were still significantly higher than the control (P < 0.05). Anatomical structure analysis revealed no significant difference at 5 mg kg^-1 Cd; however, at ≥ 100 mg kg^-1 Cd, epidermal and spongy tissue thickness differed significantly from the control. For new drugs or indications, substantial evidence of clinical effectiveness is required for market authorization. In most jurisdictions, substantial evidence is not explicitly defined. Health regulators exercise discretion and are increasingly tolerant of earlier or less mature evidence. To align with flexible evidentiary standards, we argue for the adoption of a principle and, context-based approach to the evidence threshold. Our approach aims to balance the potential benefits and harms of accelerated authorization, low therapeutic value, and safety, based on a value of information (VoI) framework. Background:
Although prior research has found a significant association between narcissistic tendencies and fame interest, details regarding the particular nature of this relationship remain to be elucidated. The present online survey study (N = 355) replicates and extends prior research examining the links between two subtypes of narcissism and fame appeal. Specifically, we distinguish between grandiose and vulnerable narcissism, as predictors of Visibility, Status, and Prosocial domains of fame appeal. Further, we examine the potential mediating role of imaginary audience fantasies.

Breathwork, a transpersonal and experiential approach to psychotherapy, has been used for healing and transformation throughout the years. When applied in clinical practice, breathwork can serve as a conduit to access nonordinary states of consciousness for self-exploration and transformation. Traditional psychotherapy does not engage with nonordinary states of consciousness as part of the therapeutic process; thus, research in relation to counselors’ experiences of breathwork and their impact on therapeutic practice has yet to be explored.

This qualitative study examined experiences and perceptions of African American women faculty at two community colleges in the Southern United States. Ten African American women faculty members who met the study's criteria were interviewed. Aim: We assess the systematic relationships and historical biogeographic patterns in the subfamily Scincinae, a group of lizards that primarily inhabits the Afro-Madagascan and Saharo-Arabian regions with isolated lineages in Europe, North America, East Asia, India and Sri Lanka. The contemporary distribution of these lineages on the historical Laurasian and Gondwanan landmasses make scincines an ideal system to study the roles of vicariance and dispersal on a geologic scale of tens of millions of years. The Nicoya region in northwestern Costa Rica contains a rich record of Upper Cretaceous fossiliferous sediments, which have received variable levels of study over the past several decades. High-Engagement Experiences, or HEEs, are introduced as part of a new classification taxonomy: The High-Impact Practices (HIPs) Spectrum. The introduction of the HIPs Spectrum is relevant because it expands educators’ definition of HIPs from binary to a more nuanced continuum, which lays the foundation for future research on HIPs and HEEs that can translate into practical implications for curriculum and student success. Phylogeographical studies integrated with niche modelling can provide insights into divergence events and demography. This study explores the evolutionary history, demographic patterns, and spatiotemporal dynamics of seven South American lizard species of the Anolis chrysolepis species group, which has been proposed to be strongly impacted by Pleistocene climatic fluctuations under the Refugia Hypothesis. Producing Class A biosolids that can be distributed or land-applied without restriction is a beneficial way to reuse wastewater treatment solids. For small water resource recovery facilities (WRRFs) in particular, low-cost, low-tech (LCLT) processes may be an appealing alternative to conventional technologies for producing Class A biosolids, such as processes to further reduce pathogens (PFRPs). Species abundance is a fundamental metric in ecology and conservation. Assessing how populations change across space time enables the identification of population trends and informs management and conservation decisions. However, measuring species abundance can be a challenging task, with logistical constraints, sampling biases, and detection limits inhibiting meaningful abundance estimates. Environmental DNA (eDNA) approaches have improved our ability to monitor species presence and biodiversity and may also serve as a tool for measuring species abundance.
