Resignation Typology And Its Impact On Entrepreneurial Intention And Action, Shuaijun Zhang, Wanrong Hou, Sibin Wu

By categorizing resignees into “genius,” “traditional,” “forced,” and “trapped,” this study examines the relationship between different types of resignees and entrepreneurial intention and action. Furthermore, we argue that anticipated regret and dormant tie reactivation moderate this relationship. An analysis of survey data from 781 participants in the United States indicates that the types of resignees exert varying influences on entrepreneurial intention and action. Compared with “traditional” and “trapped,” but not “forced,” the “genius” group have high intention of starting their own enterprises. Inflammasomes are multiprotein complexes that initiate inflammatory signaling through activation of caspase-1, cytokine maturation, and cleavage of Gasdermin D (GSDMD). Cleaved GSDMD forms membrane pores that contribute to cytokine release and pyroptotic cell death. Recent evidence suggests that extracellular vesicles (EVs) may facilitate the intercellular transfer of inflammatory mediators. This study investigated whether GSDMD N-terminal fragment (GSDMD-NT) associates with EV-enriched fractions and contributes to inflammation propagation. Doxycycline-inducible HeLa cells expressing FLAG-tagged GSDMD-NT were used to generate EV-enriched fractions. In this single-center pilot trial of 60 ICU patients, early administration of 5% albumin in addition to crystalloid did not significantly improve Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS) remission at Day 3 nor reduce 60-day mortality.¹ However, a statistically significant reduction in sepsis was observed in the albumin group compared with crystalloid alone (10% vs. 36.7%, P = 0.01). Although the study concludes that albumin did not improve prognosis, we believe the observed difference in sepsis merits further consideration.

Urothelial cell carcinoma (UCC) with squamous differentiation (SqD) is a subtype of bladder cancer with high metastatic potential. Metastasis of muscle-invasive UCC to the GI tract, with complete transition to squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), is rare, particularly in females. We present a female patient with high grade UCC with SqD treated with radical cystectomy and immunotherapy who presented with hematochezia 1 year after her cancer treatment. Imaging and colonoscopy revealed an annular, obstructing mass in the rectosigmoid region prompting sigmoid colectomy and partial proctectomy. Histopathology revealed invasive SCC. Pigmentation anomalies in wild mammals are rare and poorly documented in wild boar (Sus scrofa) populations. Leucism, characterized by partial loss of melanin while retaining normal eye pigmentation, represents one of the least frequently reported coloration anomalies in the species. During a camera-trap survey in Bamo Mountain, Zagros Mountains of Iraqi Kurdistan, an unusually pale-colored wild boar consistent with leucism was recorded. The individual exhibited cream to light-blond pelage with retained darker pigmentation on the snout and distal limbs, while the eyes remained normally pigmented. Integrating Geo Analysis And Machine Learning For Identifying Transcriptomic Signature Of Ev-A71 Infection, Li Li, Guifang Hu

Objective: To identify a transcriptomic signature associated with EV-A71 infection using peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) transcriptome profiles from the public dataset GSE135964, which compares samples from subjects with Enterovirus A71 (EV-A71) infection against healthy controls based on bioinformatics and machine learning algorithms, for exploratory biomarker discovery. Methods: The publicly available dataset GSE135964, accessed through the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database WAS analyzed. Differential expression analysis was conducted with a |log2FC| ≥ 0.5 and an adj.P.Val < 0.05 cutoff. The resulting gene set was then visualized through box plots, PCA, volcano plots, and heatmaps. Subsequently, we utilized the random forest algorithm, which quantified gene importance by integrating the mean decrease in both accuracy and the Gini index. This process culminated in the selection of the highest-ranking 10% of genes for subsequent candidacy. Functional characterization of the candidate genes involved Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analyses, alongside the establishment of a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network leveraging the STRING database. Results: Our analysis revealed 438 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), with a marked imbalance towards upregulation (415 genes) compared to downregulation (23 genes). Random forest screening identified 44 candidate genes. PPI analysis identified 23 key genes, and LASSO regression finally pinpointed three feature genes: IFIT5, OASL, and PLSCR1. ROC analysis showed AUC values of 0.964, 0.921, and 0.894 for OASL, PLSCR1, and IFIT5, respectively, indicating a strong association with EV-A71 infection. Enrichment analysis implicated these feature genes in antiviral biological processes, suggesting a core mechanism involving antiviral defense (GO:0051607) to viral RNA binding (GO:0003727). Conclusions: The identified three-gene signature, enriched in antiviral response pathways, provides a theoretical basis for future research into host transcriptomic responses to EV-A71 infection and the RIG-I signaling axis. This transcriptomic signature analysis offers an exploratory resource for understanding EV-A71–associated HFMD.

Despite extensive research on community agriculture, little attention has been paid to student-led farms or gardens (SFGs) in higher education contexts. SFGs represent a unique site for community agriculture due to their diverse stakeholders, academic affiliations, and the institutional policies they navigate. This study examines online promotional materials from 42 SFGs located on land-grant higher education campuses across the United States. Using critical discourse analysis, we (1) map these organizations’ practices and (2) identify competing discourses about community and agriculture within their promotional narratives. Our laboratory routinely rears the sugarcane borer, Diatraea saccharalis (F.), for research in host plant resistance and biological control of this important sugarcane pest. Objective: Cancer survivors, defined as those living with or beyond a cancer diagnosis, experience more than double the prevalence of psychopathology when compared to the general population. Categorical diagnostic systems, such as the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), remain dominant in psycho-oncology despite concerns about reliability, validity, and clinical utility for this population. Introduction: Cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) is associated with cognitive impairment, but its longitudinal course of cognitive decline remains unclear. We investigated domain-specific cognitive trajectories in Dutch-type hereditary (D-CAA) and sporadic CAA (sCAA) to compare patterns and rates of decline. Methods: We included 181 participants – 93 D-CAA mutation carriers (59 without, 34 with prior intracerebral hemorrhage [ICH]) and 88 with sCAA (57 without, 31 with ICH) – who underwent annual neuropsychological assessment. Human-caused ignitions account for most wildfires in the United States, particularly along roadsides, utility corridors, and other high-risk infrastructure where fine fuels are abundant and ignition sources are concentrated. These settings are often embedded within grassland and shrubland ecosystems, where fires spread rapidly and can threaten nearby communities and assets. Preventative fire-retardant products (PFRPs) have emerged as a promising strategy for reducing ignition likelihood in these environments.
