The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to describe the shared lived experiences of women affected by marital infidelity in North Carolina. Physical, emotional, and spiritual issues arise due to betrayal and brokenness of secure attachments. Findings from this study revealed that some shared emotional issues women faced following infidelity included depression, guilt, self-blame, and low self-esteem. Some issues took longer to recover from than others, such as loss of trust, low self-esteem, and varying physical health-related issues. This study examined how cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques including cognitive restructuring and positive affirmations affect the relationship between dietary patterns and depression and anxiety symptoms. Research has established that CBT and diet affect depression and anxiety independently, but less research examines their collective impact. The study included 154 adult participants who filled out the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 alongside a Dietary Habits Checklist and a CBT Engagement Checklist during the previous two weeks. This research examined the themes of personality among professional horse trainers by utilizing the Riso-Hudson Enneagram Type Indicator (RHETI), the Ten-Item Personality Inventory (TIPI), and semi-structured interviews. Exploring The Relationship Between Loneliness And Real-Time Measurements Of Gsr And Hrv During Concept Mapping, And Cortisol And Oxytocin Levels, Jangwon Seo

This study attempts to explore loneliness among college students from a bio-physio-psycho-social perspective, and it utilizes real-time physiological measurements (GSR and HRV) and biomarkers (cortisol and oxytocin) in conjunction with psychosocial assessments. The study employs both qualitative and quantitative methods, which involve concept mapping exercises, with the aim of comprehending the full nature of how loneliness interacts with physiological and psychological processes. At Time 1 (T1) we found significant positive correlations between loneliness and elevated GSR levels, which is indicative of increased sympathetic arousal (r = .35, p < .01). Additionally, there were significant negative correlations between loneliness and mean RR intervals in HRV that indicated autonomic dysregulation featured by increased sympathetic activities as well as reduced parasympathetic functions (r = -.28, p < .05). However, at Time 2 (T2), these correlations were not significant indicating possible temporal fluctuations due to adaptive responses or extraneous variables such social support systems or coping mechanisms. The qualitative data from concept mapping enriched the analysis by providing deeper insights into the cognitive and emotional processes underlying loneliness. Despite limitations like demographic skewness, funding constraints, logistical challenges, etc., this, therefore, highlights the need for multidimensional investigations of psychological phenomena. This has implications for future research as well as clinical practice, which could include using these integrative measures to develop holistic interventions for mental health disorders.

The interplay between brain metabolism and function supports the brain's adaptive capacity in cognitively demanding processes. Prior work has linked glucose metabolism to resting-state fMRI activity, but often overlooks both hemodynamic confounders in the BOLD signal and the brain's dynamic nature. To address this, we employed a novel effective connectivity decomposition, separating symmetric partial covariance, capturing "true" statistical dependencies between regions, from antisymmetric differential covariance, reflecting directional brain flow. In 42 healthy subjects, we show that partial covariance corresponds to metabolic connectivity across regions, while node directionality relates to standardized uptake value ratio, a proxy for local glucose consumption. The study analyzes the water quality of aqueducts in Drenas, Prishtina, Lipjan, and Shtime, Kosovo, in June and August 2024. The parameters assessed include physicochemical properties like color, turbidity, pH, free chlorine, chlorides, conductivity, and metal ions (Fe²⁺, Mn²⁺, Al), alongside biological indicators such as coliform bacteria. The results indicate that most parameters are within acceptable limits, reflecting overall good water quality. However, variations were noted: Prishtina's low chlorine levels may pose microbial risks, and the increased chlorides and conductivity in Lipjan suggest the impact of urban runoff or industrial activities. The determination of general parameters (loss on drying test, total ash, and ash insoluble in dilute HCl) as well as the determination of total phenols content (TPC) and total flavonoids content (TFC) were determined in the aerial part of Sideritis scardica and S. raeseri collected in different localities in North Macedonia and Albania. In the analyzed samples of S. scardica and S. raeseri loss by drying was 6.65-8.01% and 7.08-8.42%, the content of total ash was 4.91-7.41% and 4.72-7.74%, while the content of total ash insoluble in diluted HCl was 0.13-0.27% and 0.05-0.75%, respectively. This disclosure presents a brain–AI interface architecture that operates under a strict sub-50 W system power envelope to reduce electromagnetic and thermal noise to near-brain levels, enabling event-driven coupling between biological neural surprise events and a neuromorphic spiking system. The system comprises: (i) a brain signal receiver (EEG) with alpha/theta-band feature extraction; (ii) an optional quantum-responsive transducer (e.g., NV-center magnetometer or QRNG correlator) for timing-level sensitivity to picotesla-scale field perturbations; and (iii) an energy-matched neuromorphic processor (e.g., Loihi-class SNN or low-power NPU) that converts biological “surprise” events into discrete spikes with < 40 μs latency and learns via STDP. The disclosure includes enabling details: system diagrams, energy budgets, filtering equations, spike-encoding logic, and experimental protocols (including physically isolated, Faraday-caged conditions) to ensure that the design is reproducible and citable as prior art. Background: Pyelonephritis is a serious kidney infection primarily caused by E. coli. This study evaluated serum CCR7 levels in patients with acute and chronic pyelonephritis.

Objectives: To assess serum CCR7 concentrations and determine its potential as a diagnostic biomarker.

Methods: A cross-sectional study included 30 acute, 30 chronic pyelonephritis patients, and 29 healthy controls. Serum CCR7 was measured using ELISA and analyzed by one-way ANOVA.

Results: CCR7 levels were significantly higher in pyelonephritis patients compared to controls (P < 0.05). Chronic cases showed higher CCR7 levels than acute cases, but the difference was not statistically significant.

Conclusion: Elevated CCR7 is associated with pyelonephritis and may serve as a supplementary diagnostic biomarker. Further studies are required …

Betatron x rays generated from laser-wakefield accelerators are a promising source for imaging dynamic processes in materials. Here, we present proof-of-concept imaging of microstructural evolution in a hypermonotectic Al-Bi alloy, which consists of liquid Bi particles in a solid Al matrix. The images capture the elongation and fragmentation of Bi particles upon isothermal annealing. Because of the femtosecond time scale of the betatron source, the images are not subject to motion blur, whereas the accessibility of the source allows for studies of long-term processes such as annealing. Plant genome editing has undergone a transformative shift with the advent of advanced molecular tools, offering unprecedented levels of precision, flexibility and efficiency in modifying genetic material. While classical site-directed nucleases such as ZFNs, TALENs and CRISPR-Cas9 have revolutionized genome engineering by enabling targeted mutagenesis and gene knockouts, the landscape is now rapidly evolving with the emergence of novel systems that go beyond the conventional double strand break (DSB)-mediated approaches. Introduction Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a common complication and major cause of mortality in people with type 1 diabetes (T1D). This study quantifies the prevalence of CVD among commercially insured adults with T1D in the USA from 2017 to 2021, overall and among age-defined and sex-defined subgroups. Research design and methods We used Merative MarketScan nationwide commercial insurance claims database (2017–2021) to identify adults ≥20 years with T1D (International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision (ICD-10) codes). CVD ascertainment was based on ICD-10 codes for myocardial infarction, atrial fibrillation, ischemic heart disease, heart failure, peripheral artery disease, and stroke. Comorbidities included …
