Background/purpose: Biodegradable magnesium (Mg)–based alloys are emerging as promising alternatives to non-resorbable titanium for bone regeneration because of their favorable mechanical properties and biodegradability. However, the interaction between Mg alloys and immunomodulatory agents in promoting osteogenesis remains poorly understood. This study aimed to evaluate the osteogenic effects of an Mg alloy on pre-osteoblasts and to investigate whether erythromycin enhances Mg-induced osteogenic differentiation through regulation of developmental endothelial locus-1 (DEL-1).

Background/purpose: Implant osseointegration depends not only on osteogenesis but also on coordinated bone remodeling. Our previous study demonstrated that epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG)/type I collagen–coated titanium (Ti) surfaces enhance angiogenesis and osteogenic differentiation in vitro. However, their influence on osteoclast differentiation remains unclear. This study evaluated the modulatory effects of this coating on osteoclast responses in vitro.

Materials and methods: Sandblasted and acid-etched (SLA) Ti surfaces followed by alkaline treatment (SLAA) were prepared. Background/purpose: Our previous studies found the serum gastric parietal cell antibody (GPCA) positivity in 12.3% to 26.7% of atrophic glossitis (AG), burning mouth syndrome (BMS), and oral lichen planus (OLP) patients. This study assessed whether GPCA-positive oral mucosal disease (GPCA⁺OMD) patients (including 284 AG, 109 BMS, and 139 OLP patients) had significantly higher frequencies of microcytosis, macrocytosis, anemia, serum iron and vitamin B12 deficiencies, and hyperhomocysteinemia than healthy control subjects (HCSs) or GPCA-negative OMD (GPCAˉOMD) patients.

Background/purpose: Traumatic loss of anterior teeth creates esthetic challenges and often requires immediate rehabilitation. Although immediate implant placement and restoration (IIPR) shortens treatment time, strict primary stability limits its use. A native-crown restoration supported by fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) splints may broaden the indications of immediate restoration, but its effectiveness remains unclear. Background/purpose: Substantial evidence demonstrates that diabetes is associated with periodontal disease. The purpose of this study was to analyze the scientometric characteristics and research trends of diabetes-associated periodontal disease (DAPD).

Materials and methods: All the papers on DAPD were comprehensively retrieved from the Scopus database. The years of publication were divided into before 2019 and after 2019 in the analysis of research trends.

Alveolar ridge remodeling following tooth extraction remains a clinical challenge in implant dentistry, particularly in the esthetic zone where dimensional stability of hard and soft tissues is critical for subsequent implant placement. This short communication describes a simplified clinical workflow for socket regeneration using a composite regenerative matrix (CRM) composed of concentrated growth factor (CGF), autologous fibrinogen glue (AFG), and freeze-dried bone allograft (FDBA). The technique was applied following atraumatic extraction in a single maxillary esthetic-zone case. Clinical and radiographic observations were documented for up to 5 years. Nasal polyps are soft, droplet-like lumps that develop on the inner lining of the nose or sinuses due to long-term inflammation in those areas. Nasal polyps are common lesions, however, the occurrence of osseous metaplasia within them is relatively rare. Besides, without a CT scan, relying solely on plain X-ray films to assist clinical diagnosis can easily be misleading due to the uncertainty of the lesion’s location. Background: Tactical breathing is commonly used in law enforcement training to regulate stress, yet limited evidence exists regarding its acute effectiveness following physical fatigue. Purpose: To examine whether a brief tactical breathing intervention improves shooting performance and heart rate variability (HRV) following anaerobic fatigue in law enforcement officers. Methods: Thirty-eight officers completed baseline HR/HRV and a shoot/no-shoot scenario, followed by a maximal 500-m row and post-fatigue shooting. Participants were assigned to either a control group or a tactical breathing group, which received brief instruction and coaching before post-testing. Climate change can alter the timing of bee and angiosperm phenology, potentially reshaping the seasonal availability of floral resources for bee species. Although plant-pollinator phenology has been widely studied in temperate systems, less is known about these dynamics in subtropical coastal ecosystems, such as barrier islands in the southeastern United States. In this study, we examined climate-driven changes in bee activity and floral resource availability across 16 barrier-island sites spanning from Florida to Virginia. Using museum bee occurrence records, herbarium-derived flowering phenology models, site-specific floristic inventories, and published bee-plant interaction data, we estimated species-specific bee activity periods and daily floral …

This study examines the relationship between Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and preventive healthcare use among adults in Georgia, specifically within rural populations facing structural barriers. Using 2023 Georgia Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) data, the research analyzes associations between ACE exposure, rural residence, and preventive care outcomes, including physical exams and flu vaccinations. Guided by an intersectionally adapted version of Andersen’s Behavioral Model of Health Services Use, the study evaluates how predisposing factors, enabling resources, and perceived barriers relate to healthcare engagement.
