Use of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP1-RA) for weight loss is increasing; implications in breast cancer (BC) survivors remain unclear.This retrospective cohort study evaluated treatment patterns, weight loss, and outcomes in BC survivors at an academic institution receiving GLP1-RA. We evaluated patients with non-metastatic (ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), stage 1-3) BC who received GLP1-RA (2005 - 2024). Linear regression models estimated associations between weight change and clinical factors. After excluding DCIS, propensity score matching (1:2) was used to match patients who received GLP1-RA with patients who did not, based on confounding covariates. Soil salinity is a major constraint on global crop productivity, driving the need for salt-tolerant varieties. While CRISPR-Cas genome editing offers targeted solutions for trait improvement, significant biological and technical bottlenecks limit its application in conferring salt stress resilience. This systematic summarizes findings from 83 peer-reviewed studies (2015–2024) employing CRISPR/Cas technologies to improve salt tolerance in five major crops (rice, wheat, maize, sorghum, barley). Our systematic review reveals that early single-gene edits achieved modest gains (30–50% Na⁺ exclusion) but often showed limited yield gains in field settings, potentially due to compensatory regulation and environmental variation. Irrigation plays a vital role in stabilizing crop production under climatic variability in the southeastern United States. However, limited long-term empirical evidence exists on how irrigation practices, water sources, and energy demands have evolved in South Carolina. The aim of this study was to examine temporal changes in irrigation characteristics in South Carolina. The analysis utilized two decades (2003–2023) of data from the United States Department of Agriculture – National Agricultural Statistics Service, Irrigation and Water Management Surveys. Generational cohort theory has been popular in the social sciences for decades, yet it remains a niche topic in the consumer behavior literature. Prior studies have found relationships between generational cohorts and various product categories. In this study, the relationship between generational cohorts and consumer decision-making constructs is assessed. A nationally representative survey was conducted. MANOVA and ANOVA analyses revealed relationships between generational cohorts and promotion focus, information acquisition, quality consciousness, compulsive buying, and consumer debt characteristics. A separate linear regression analysis showed significance between age and some of these decision-making characteristics. Background: Cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) substantially improve outcomes in cardiac patients, but device-related infection can negate these benefits. Data on the epidemiology of CIED infections in Saudi Arabia are limited. Methods: We performed a multicenter retrospective cohort study of consecutive patients receiving CIEDs (pacemakers [PPM], implantable cardioverter-defibrillators [ICD], and cardiac resynchronization devices [CRT]) at three tertiary hospitals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from January 2017 through December 2021. Patients were followed for at least one year post-implantation. This project analyzes the rise of cyanobacteria blooms in Rhode Island freshwater systems and identifies a policy gap in the state’s largely reactive management approach. Drawing on state reports and interviews with environmental experts, it highlights nutrient runoff, climate change, and limited public education as key drivers of bloom severity. To address this gap, I developed a prevention-focused public education poster designed for integration into existing state alert and outreach systems.

Endometriosis is a chronic gynecologic condition associated with substantial physical, psychological, and social burden, and depressive symptoms are consistently linked to poorer health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among affected women. However, limited population-based research has examined how depressive symptoms intersect with social factors. Guided by Engel’s biopsychosocial model, nationally representative data from the 2005–2006 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES)—the most recent cycle to include an item on endometriosis diagnosis—were analyzed among U.S. women with self-reported endometriosis (N = 4,137). Introduction/Purpose: Somatic genomic testing in metastatic prostate cancer (mPC) identifies genomic variants which provide clinical insight into the disease biology. Somatic testing results determine eligibility for standard of care targeted therapies and clinical trial eligibility. While national guidelines recommend testing for all mPC patients, patients with adverse social determinants of health (SDOH), racial minority groups and patients with low socioeconomic status (SES) have historically undergone lower rates of testing compared to national standards. This study aims to identify barriers to testing in mPC patients in the Jefferson system and ultimately understand the factors that influence testing rates.

Introduction/Purpose: Previous studies have demonstrated that diabetes is linked to mental health disorders, including depression. In our student-delivered education program, Jefferson Glycemic Load (JeffGL), we aim to investigate the effects of glycemic load patient education on depression in diabetic and prediabetic patients. We hypothesize that participants will demonstrate reduced depression scores compared to baseline, measured using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), after participation in JeffGL.

We present a collection of 17 high-quality long-read inbred mouse strain genomes with complete annotation (contig N50s of 0.8-33.9 Mbp). This collection includes 12 widely used classical laboratory strains and 5 wild-derived strains. We have resolved previously incomplete genomic regions, including the major histocompatibility complex (MHC), defensin cluster, T cell receptor, and Ly49 complexes. Hundreds of non-reference genes from previous publications not found in GRCm39, such as Defa1, Raet1a, and Klra20 (Ly49T), were localized in the new reference genomes. Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) remodels host cell functions to support its intracellular persistence. While the effects of Mtb infection on infected macrophages are well characterized, responses of uninfected bystander cells in the same microenvironment remain poorly understood. Here, we show that Mtb infection triggers widespread epigenetic reprogramming not only in infected macrophages but also in neighbouring bystander cells. These bystander macrophages acquire active chromatin marks, exhibit distinct transcriptional changes, and display enhanced immune responsiveness, thereby increasing resistance to both homologous and heterologous infections. Cost efficient, spatially resolved water quality monitoring is essential for managing pollution and protecting aquatic ecosystems. This study presents a low-cost (approximately USD 200), open-source, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-deployable in situ sensor node for real-time assessment of surface-water conditions. The system integrates sensors for pH, turbidity, temperature, and total dissolved solids (TDSs), with onboard data logging and real-time clock (RTC) synchronization. Bench validation of the sensor package yielded mean absolute percentage errors of 1.34% for pH, 5.23% for TDS, and 0.81% for temperature, and the device operated continuously for 42 h. Clinical supervision plays a critical role in supporting counselor development, yet little is known about the factors that contribute to clinical supervisors’ self-efficacy in providing supervision for alcohol and drug counselors.
