Abstract

Background: Electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) use among adults has risen rapidly over the past decade, prompting concern about potential adverse effects on oral health. Although the systemic consequences of e-cigarette exposure have been increasingly studied, effects on the oral mucosa remain less clearly defined. Existing investigations describe a range of oral mucosal findings, but reported outcomes and assessment methods are inconsistent, making it difficult to draw clear conclusions.

Objectives: To systematically review the available evidence examining the association between electronic cigarette use and oral mucosal lesions/alterations in adults, compared with non-users or other tobacco exposure groups.

This Doctoral of Nursing Practice (DNP) project focused on improving provider knowledge in addressing social determinants of health (SDOH) that contribute to medication nonadherence. There is a gap in provider knowledge in addressing SDOH-related barriers that contributes to poor health outcomes. Increasing provider awareness of SDOH improves patient outcomes. The practice-focused question guiding this doctoral project asked whether an educational module on SDOH improved provider knowledge in addressing SDOH-related barriers to medication adherence among adult patients with chronic illnesses. Keragaman pangan minimum atau minimum dietary diversity (MDD) merupakan indikator penting kualitas konsumsi pangan anak usia 6-23 bulan. Pemenuhan MDD berperan dalam mendukung pertumbuhan optimal dan pencegahan malnutrisi, termasuk stunting. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan pemenuhan MDD pada anak usia 6-23 bulan di Indonesia. Data yang digunakan adalah data Survei Kesehatan Indonesia 2023 dengan desain potong lintang. Subjek penelitian adalah 17.991 anak usia 6-23 bulan. Analisis yang dilakukan menggunakan regresi logistik biner dengan penyesuaian desain complex samples. This study was focused on law enforcement officers’ experiences with secondary traumatic stress and coping while working with child molesters. Lazarus and Folkman’s cognitive model of stress and coping were used to examine how law enforcement officers manage stress, focusing on their cognitive processes and thought patterns. Using a basic qualitative approach, eight law enforcement officers who work with child molesters in the state of South Carolina were interviewed to hear their personal experiences. Interviews were semi-structured interview questions via a video-conferencing platform. The data were analyzed and coded using Braun and Clarke’s six-step thematic analysis. Background/Objectives: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a heterogeneous hematologic malignancy with historically poor outcomes, particularly among older adults and patients harboring high-risk molecular features. Advances in genomic profiling have enabled the development of targeted therapies, reshaping treatment algorithms beyond conventional cytarabine-anthracycline induction and hypomethylating agent-based regimens. This review summarizes current evidence and emerging therapeutic strategies across four evolving areas: menin inhibition, FLT3 inhibition, IDH inhibition and treatment approaches for TP53-mutated AML. Human faces are critical for social communication, enabling individuals to make rapid judgments about traits like trustworthiness and competence. Previous research suggests that face masks can enhance perceptions of trustworthiness and, to a lesser extent, competence, although findings on competence are more variable and context-dependent. Additionally, age-related facial cues influence social judgments, with older and younger faces being evaluated differently. This research examined the impact of face masks on perceptions of trustworthiness and competence across two age groups: young adults (Study 1) and old adults (Study 2). We carry out uniaxial continuous and step stretching of various cross-linked polymer networks to demonstrate how characteristics of rupture during continuous stretching and delayed rupture after step stretching can be used to probe the structure of the emergent kinetic activation theory of bond dissociation (KATBD) for elastomeric failure. Based on delayed rupture experiments, we show that the network lifetime tntw, taken as the incubation time tdel-rupt for delayed rupture, depends on temperature in an Arrhenius like manner and is exponentially sensitive to the degree of network stretching (depicted by the step-stretch ratio λss). BACKGROUND: Flow diverters (FDs) are increasingly used for cerebral aneurysms, including distal anterior cerebral artery (DACA) aneurysms, but comparative data between devices in this challenging location are limited.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the safety and efficacy of Pipeline, Silk Vista Baby (SVB), and FRED Jr. FDs for unruptured DACA aneurysms and identify predictors of complete occlusion.

METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 166 patients treated with FDs at 39 centers in 14 countries (2018–2022) from the CRETA registry. Outcomes included aneurysm occlusion (O’Kelly–Marotta [OKM] scale), complications, retreatment, modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores, and independent predictors of complete occlusion using multivariable Cox regression.

Social workers within correctional facilities can determine the need for treatment, how often treatment is required, what specific treatment is necessary, and what resources will be needed to provide those treatments. A qualitative exploratory design was used in this study. I explored the quality of behavioral health treatment provided to the incarcerated population. Black women managing Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) and mood disorders navigate complex health care experiences within systems that often fail to recognize their needs. Health care disparities, cultural expectations, and systemic barriers create distinct interpretive contexts for this population, who often encounter delayed diagnoses, inadequate treatment, and dismissal of their symptoms despite often reporting higher levels of pain severity. The continued rise in single-mother households within Black communities has led to an increase in hyper-independence among Black women, a phenomenon referred to as the strong Black woman schema. Studies have found an association between hyper-independence (i.e., excessive self-reliance and emotional invulnerability) and absent fathers (i.e., due to incarceration or abandonment), forcing Black women to assume the roles of financial provider, caregiver, and community agent. This Doctor of Nursing Practice project was a staff education initiative addressing a critical practice gap: clinical staff at a mental health facility lacked the practical knowledge to implement evidence-based telemonitoring protocols for suicide prevention, despite strong supporting research. The problem examined in this study is how colorism affects Black families. The purpose of this qualitative case study was to explore the lived experiences of Black women and the colorist messages they received from family members, how those messages were internalized, and the messages perceived effects. The conceptual framework for this study was based on the colorist-historical trauma framework, and data were obtained through individual interviews with Black women ages 22–70, from various socioeconomic backgrounds and selected through purposeful sampling. Prisoner-on-prisoner sexual abuse is widespread in US male prisons, with inmates “turning each other out” by sexually assaulting each other. While the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) received unanimous support in Congress in 2003, motivated by the Human Rights Watch Report “No Escape: Male Rape in Prisons,” scholars argue that the PREA fails to protect prisoners from prison rape: for example, its standards may be ineffective or criminalize consensual sex between prisoners. Background: Obesity, which is common in bipolar disorder (BD), is associated with smaller hippocampal volumes. We do not know the role of weight/weight gain in relation to longitudinal hippocampal changes among individuals with BD.

Methods: In collaboration with the ENIGMA (Enhancing Neuro Imaging Genetics through Meta Analysis)-BD Working Group, we obtained T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging and clinical data from 233 participants with BD and 701 healthy control participants (HCs) scanned twice, 2.84 ± 1.63 years apart on average. Anti-apoptotic B-cell lymphoma 2 (BCL-2) controls inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor (IP3R)-mediated Ca²+ signalling. As cells typically express all three IP3R isoforms in variable abundances that assemble in hetero-tetrameric channels, the specific effects of BCL-2 on each isoform remain unclear. Here, we employed a reductionist approach using HEK293 cells triple-IP3R knockout reconstituted with a single IP3R isoform to elucidate the impact of BCL-2 on Ca2+ signalling by homo-tetrameric IP3R channels. Co-immunoprecipitation experiments demonstrated that BCL-2 interacts with each IP3R isoform. Live-cell Ca²+ imaging revealed that BCL-2 overexpression suppresses Ca²+ signals evoked by any of the three IP3R isoforms. Moreover, BCL-2 overexpression impaired …
