Background

Septoplasty is frequently performed with functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), either during the same operative session or as a staged procedure. Whether same-day versus staged septoplasty with FESS is associated with differences in postoperative corticosteroid use or postoperative nasal polyp diagnosis remains unclear.

Objective

The study aimed to compare postoperative corticosteroid use and postoperative nasal polyp diagnosis after same-day versus staged septoplasty with FESS.

Methods

We performed a retrospective cohort study using the TriNetX U.S. Collaborative Network. Adults undergoing both septoplasty and FESS were categorized into same-day and staged cohorts, with staged procedures separated by at least 30 days. …

Individuals within incarcerated settings are far more likely to experience symptoms that meet criteria for a mental health disorder compared to the general population. This population is often underserved due to various financial and resource constraints. Self-help interventions have grown in popularity due to their proven effectiveness and accessibility for consumers, particularly for anxiety and depression symptoms. A self-help intervention for those in a correctional setting would not require extensive additional personnel amid financial constraints and would increase access to care. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, the future of religion looks remarkably familiar. This essay argues that Star Wars offers a holistic reimagining of American racial formation in a speculative interstellar setting, translating historical practices of othering and alienization into the galaxy’s social and religious order. Across the Skywalker Saga (1977–2019), the Jedi Order functions as a galactic priesthood whose moral universalism authorizes intervention, governance, and salvation across the cosmos. The alignment between textbook demands and learner proficiency in a CEFR A1–A2 General English course (Eng. 05225) was examined for Psychology students at a Saudi public university, using Evolve Special Edition7, focusing specifically on textbook suitability, learner struggle, and cognitive load across the four language skills. Document analysis of 23 curriculum artefacts and structured interviews with five teachers and 16 students, from across the proficiency levels, were qualitatively triangulated to support identification of the five key elements raised by the students and teachers of this study. Chronological Intersectionality: Navigating Off-Time Career Reinvention For Women At Midlife And Beyond, Sara W. Bailey

Counselors are trained to anticipate on-time retirement-linked risks but increasingly are serving women pursuing off-time midlife career reinvention within ageist, sexist, racist, and ableist systems of power. Grounded in the author’s personal narrative, this perspective article highlights the compounded burdens of gendered ageism, biopsychosocial aging, and non-prototypical professional acceleration for midlife women. Built upon Crenshaw’s (1989) framework, chronological intersectionality is introduced as a way for counselors to conceptualize the concurrent biopsychosocial and systemic pressures and marginalization that can occur when age-expected norms collide with career changes for midlife women. Implications for clinical practice are described.

Objective: To characterize feasibility, tolerability, and patient-reported outcomes after a 10-session full-body red and near-infrared photobiomodulation (PBM) protocol for musculoskeletal pain in a predominantly Hispanic/ Latino community sample.

Background: PBM is a non-pharmacological intervention with potential analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. Evidence from community-based and Hispanic/Latino populations remains limited, and full-body LED protocols are incompletely standardized.

Methods: This single-arm observational pilot study included 40 adults with self-reported acute or chronic musculoskeletal pain. Participants completed baseline and post-protocol Qualtrics surveys. This capstone examined the relationship between deficits in emotional intelligence and behavioral escalation among justice-involved populations, who frequently demonstrated challenges with emotional regulation, impulse control, aggression, and behavioral escalation. However, many correctional interventions, including traditional anger management programming, emphasized behavioral compliance rather than the underlying emotional processing deficiencies that contributed to these behaviors. This project synthesized existing peer-reviewed literature from psychology, criminology, forensic behavioral health, and correctional rehabilitation research to examine how low levels of emotional awareness, emotional regulation, empathy, and interpersonal functioning are associated with aggression, recidivism, and escalating behaviors. This study explored how mentoring was perceived in the educational experiences of African American male foster care alumni who completed college. African American males with foster care histories often face significant adversity, including placement instability, disrupted educational experiences, and limited access to consistent support systems. Although these challenges are well documented, less is known about how supportive mentoring relationships may contribute to academic persistence and success. A generic qualitative framework was used to gather participant perspectives through semi-structured interviews. Delayed removal of indwelling urinary catheters (IUCs) contributes to catheter-associated urinary tract infections, a leading healthcare-associated infection. A dot/smart-phrase communication tool, guided by the Health Belief Model construct of cues to action, to promote timely IUC removal interventions was evaluated in this quantitative, cross-sectional study. Secondary data from N = 372 adult patients with acute urinary retention in acute and critical care settings in Washington State were analyzed using SPSS Version 30. For species extirpated from the wild, ex situ breeding programs are essential for providing the individuals necessary for re-establishing wild populations through reintroductions. However, repeated exposure to humans under managed care may reduce wariness and alter behavioral responses in ways that are maladaptive after release. Although some pre-release behaviors reflect natural responses essential for survival and reproduction, others may result from habituation to humans and increase the risk of conflict, recapture, or mortality following translocation. Using single-cell transcriptomics of bronchoalveolar lavage cells from Mtb/SIV co-infected rhesus macaques on cART, we reveal profound immune dysregulation during early SIV co-infection of latent tuberculosis. SIV induces a sharp decline in CD4+ T cells, NK, and NKT cells, with incomplete recovery of Mtb-specific TH1 effector responses despite viral suppression. Instead, a persistent TH17-skewed environment emerges, alongside sustained myeloid inflammation driven by Type I interferon signaling and pro-inflammatory regulators such as KLF6 and NFKB1. Ligand-receptor network analyses demonstrate expanded CD4+ T cell-macrophage crosstalk and loss of immune homeostasis that cART fails to fully restore. These findings expose …

The locating-chromatic number of a graph combines proper vertex coloring with vertex identification through distances to color classes. Although this parameter has been studied for many graph families, general results for bipartite graphs remain limited. Bipartite graphs contain structural symmetries, especially within each partite set, making it difficult to obtain distinct color codes. This paper establishes lower and upper bounds for the locating-chromatic number of bipartite graphs using neighborhood equivalence classes in the two partite sets.
