Introduction: This scoping review consolidates existing research on outpatient ethics committees (OECs). While inpatient or hospital ethics committees are well-researched and established, OECs are scarce in number and have received less attention from scholars, ethicists, and physicians, despite the increase in outpatient care utilization over the past two decades.

Methods: We conducted a scoping review following the JBI Manual for Evidence Synthesis. Key information sources included MEDLINE PubMed, Embase, and Academic Search Complete. The identified gap in practice was related to a lack of knowledge of pressure ulcer injury prevention among inpatient staff. Rare variants affecting the epigenetic regulator KDM2B cause a recently delineated neurodevelopmental disorder. Interestingly, we previously identified both a general KDM2B-associated episignature and a subsignature specific to variants in the DNA-binding CxxC domain. In light of the existence of a distinct subsignature, we set out to determine if KDM2B CxxC variants are associated with a unique phenotype and disease mechanism. We recruited individuals with heterozygous CxxC variants and assessed the variants' effect on protein expression and DNA-binding ability. In the emotionally demanding field of hospice and palliative care, the well-being of clinicians is critical. This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project focused on implementing a staffing education initiative to address secondary traumatic stress (STS). I designed this staffing education project to enhance clinician awareness, resilience, and coping strategies while informing organizational leadership on how improved staffing models and support systems can mitigate STS. This case report details a 69-year-old male who presented with a right-sided pleural effusion and a mediastinal mass that was ultimately identified as recurrent mantle-cell lymphoma, occurring over 20 years after his initial diagnosis. Imaging findings discussed include chest radiograph and chest, abdomen and pelvis computed tomography depicting the mass compressing on various neighboring structures.

Non-profit healthcare administrators in United States hospitals face the challenge of hospital readmissions, especially due to the CMS Hospital Readmission Reduction Program (HRRP), which affects reimbursement. The purpose and review question for this integrative review was to research evidence-based strategies that could be implemented to improve the discharge planning process in non-profit hospitals and reduce readmissions for patients with HRRP diagnoses. A review of literature identified 126 articles for analysis, with 25 studies selected for quality assessment using the Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence-Based Practice Model and the Research Evidence Appraisal form. Background: Family-centered care (FCC) is essential in pediatric and neonatal intensive care units (PICUs), potentially increasing parent satisfaction and reducing length of hospital stay, but evidence of its effectiveness is inconsistent. Objective: To assess the effects of FCC interventions on parent satisfaction and length of hospital stay in PICUs. Methods: A systematic review was conducted, with 17 studies meeting the established inclusion criteria. This paper introduces a design research tool that integrates anthropological perspectives on non-human agency to reimagine biodiversity in garden design. While gardens comprise a minor portion of global biomass, they are critical sites for urban biodiversity and multispecies interaction. A central challenge lies in learning to attune to non-human actors. Building on theories of ecological inter-dependence in the Anthropocene, we ask how such perspectives can be operationalised in design practice. Grounded in the "Patchy Anthropocene" framework (Tsing et al., 2019), the tool translates theoretical insights into an actionable prototype. Background: Case series report high mortality after fetal diagnosis of moderate to severe mitral regurgitation in combination with left atrial dilation, hydrops, or restrictive atrial septum. However, overall outcomes and specific high-risk features remain unclear.

Methods: We performed a multicenter retrospective cohort study of fetuses with ≥moderate mitral regurgitation and normal cardiac connections evaluated January 1, 2005 to January 31, 2016. Fetuses undergoing fetal cardiac intervention (FCI) were described separately. We assessed associations between fetal echocardiographic features and discharge mortality using mixed logistic regression and classification and regression tree modeling, stratified by studies performed < 28 and ≥28 weeks gestational age (GA).

Palliative care remains significantly underutilized in the management of heart failure, despite national guidelines supporting its early integration. This underuse limits opportunities for person-centered care in cardiology settings. The purpose of this quality improvement project was to improve provider knowledge and comfort in implementing palliative care consultations. The problem addressed was the low consultation rates for advanced heart failure patients, largely driven by provider misconceptions and a lack of formal training. A quasi-experimental design was initiated by using a brief, evidence-based educational article. Psychological distress is often seen in cancer patients due to the physical, emotional, and social burdens of diagnosis and treatment. Patient participation in support services remains low despite the readily available psychosocial resources. The Emotional Well-Being Tool (EWBT), a validated psychological distress screening tool, is often used in a Midwest cancer clinic, yet it was noted that its supportive services were underutilized.

This study delves into the lived experiences of grandmothers grappling with grief following the “out-of-order” death of a child, child-in-law, or grandchild, using an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis grounded in the Dual Process Model-Revised. With 70% of U.S. adults over 65 being grandparents, the research highlights their often-invisible role as both grievers and caregivers amid family loss. Findings reveal three key themes: navigating personal grief, intergenerational support dynamics, and reconstructing family identity. Grandmothers oscillate between loss-oriented and restoration-oriented coping, with grief intensity varying by relational proximity—most profound when losing their own child. Custodians play an important role in maintaining our surroundings safe and sanitary. However, in doing so, they are their exposure to health hazards that put them at risk, yet these exposures are often overlooked. One major risk they face is contact with bloodborne pathogens, which put custodial staff at risk for infections such as hepatitis B. While Job Safety Analyses (JSA’s) outline various protective measures, many fail to incorporate medical surveillance as part of their risk management program. Outcomes in patients with relapsed/refractory (RR) AML are poor. We sought to investigate if CPX-531 in combination with venetoclax (CPX + VEN) was tolerable and effective in RR AML. This was a single institution phase 1b/2 trial of CPX + VEN. Patients aged ≥ 18 years with RR AML who were fit for intensive chemotherapy were eligible. Prior venetoclax exposure was allowed. The phase 1b portion followed a 3 + 3 design to identify the recommended phase 2 dose (RP2D) for the expansion cohort. Medical visits, regardless of setting, are stressful for children and their families. Care that focuses on the emotional safety of children and families can help reduce this stress. However, not all staff feel prepared to provide emotionally safe care. Child life specialists (CLSs) are specifically trained to support emotional needs during healthcare encounters. Their presence may help staff stress as well, not just stress for children and families.
