The purpose of this study was to describe the extent that nurse practitioners acquire knowledge, evaluate, recommend, and teach the safe use and acquisition of herbal remedies to their patients. Additionally, the study sought to investigate factors associated with the frequency nurse practitioners recommended herbal remedies. A survey was constructed and mailed to 600 randomly selected members of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; Of the 304 returned questionnaires, 264 of the respondents identified exclusively as family nurse practitioners (FNP).
