Hispanic students at Hispanic Majority Institutions (HMIs) experience unique social comparison processes that shape their academic self-concept, belonging, and stress levels. While research has examined Hispanic students as minorities in predominantly White institutions, studies on their experiences at HMIs remain limited. This study explored whether stress mediated the relationship between social comparison orientation (SCO) and two dimensions of belonging—acceptance/rejection and school membership—among Hispanic undergraduates (N = 261). Participants completed an online survey with measures of SCO, academic self-concept, belonging, school membership, and stress. Alligatorweed (Alternanthera philoxeroides), native to South America, is a highly invasive aquatic macrophyte that is globally distributed and particularly problematic in the southeastern United States. In the United States, alligatorweed management has a long history, particularly of chemical and biological control. Alligatorweed management saw early success with a South American flea beetle (Agasicles hygrophila), but this agent’s utility has waned. Perimenopause is a span of four to six years preceding menopause when estrogen levels decline. Up to 40% of women experience depression during the perimenopause transition. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can be an effective treatment for depressive symptoms during perimenopause, but many healthcare practitioners prescribe antidepressants instead of HRT for the management of mood-related symptoms. Perimenopausal depression is associated with the progression of chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and dyslipidemia. Background: The mechanisms linking early-life adversity with psychopathology over the life-course are complex. In this prospective study, we collectively examined cognitive, affective, and developmental mediators previously found to individually link childhood threat and deprivation experiences to adolescent psychopathology to identify the most potent mechanisms. Methods: Data came from a community sample of 227 children (mean child age 11.5 ± 0.5 years, 48.5% female) from the Seattle metro area with recruitment designed to reflect diversity in family income. In the absence of universally available vaccines and amidst rising insecticide resistance that leads to product failures, there is an urgent need to develop new tools to mitigate mosquito-borne disease risk. Within a framework of trait theory, consumer buying behavior theory and decision-making processes, SEM and r software applied to U.S. retail organic user panel data showed a unique, positive relationship of hedonistic, price-consciousness and quality-seeking traits with domain-specific (organic products) consumer innovativeness. Liangyou huabao (The Young Companion) was a prominent Chinese pictorial magazine, with 174 issues published monthly between 1926 and 1945. Liangyou entertained its Chinese audience with a variety of photographs documenting modern life. This thesis examines photographs of domestic travel photography in the magazine, arguing that editorial captions encouraged readers to associate images of China with allusions to traditional art and aesthetics. This occurred within a historical context where modernity was often associated with the pressures of Westernization, and where Chinese culture and civilization was sometimes characterized as outdated or irrelevant. With the continuous development of social media, negative brand emotions have emerged as a significant social phenomenon. However, existing marketing research predominantly focuses on positive emotions. This study aims to explore how the sensory, emotional, behavioral, intellectual, and social dimensions of negative brand experiences elicit consumer regret and brand hate, which subsequently drive the spread of NWOM. Using SEM to analyze data from 1,000 Chinese consumers, this study finds that all dimensions of negative brand experiences significantly influence both regret and brand hate. This article argues that the use of credible homeland ballistic missile defense (BMD) systems counterintuitively encourages offense dominance by undermining the deterrence by punishment behind mutually assured destruction (MAD). It contends that while BMD is a defensive technology, under conditions of MAD that defensive capability, if credible, is perceived by adversaries to signal an intention to circumvent deterrence. Fearing an attack with impunity, adversaries increase their supply of offensive weapons, pressuring defenders to improve their BMD capabilities, and an arms race thus emerges. These changes have affected wind speeds, atmospheric and sea surface temperature, thermohaline stratification, shoaling of the oxycline, and dust/iron inputs. ［Objective］ To explore the influence of Monascus fermentation on the release of polyphenols from Apocynum venetum L.leaves.［Methods］ Apocynum venetum L.was fermented with Monascus,and the content of polyphenols was measured,followed by transcriptome analysis.［Results］ Total polyphenols,soluble polyphenols,insoluble -bound polyphenols,as well as the content of chlorogenic acid,luteolin,vitexin,and quercetin were taken as evaluation indicators.The results indicated that fermentation on the 8th day significantly increased the release of polyphenols from Apocynum venetum L.leaves.Transcriptome analysis showed that the regulated expression of carbohydrate -active enzymes such as 1,3-β-GT and XTH 23,was the main factor contributing to the release of polyphenols from Apocynum venetum L.by Monascus.［Conclusion］ Monascus fermentation …

Gaia’s symbiotic imagery and the Anthropocene crisis characterize the early twenty-firstvcentury, shaping a historical consciousness where we are becoming Isabelle Stengers’sv“cosmopolitical idiots.” In this context, we practice “slowing down” and regeneration, always with historical specificities and intricate networks of relations. This paper reevaluates Aimé Césaire and Frantz Fanon’s vivid transcorporeal language, charged with the violent energy of resistance, through the lenses of symbiogenesis, metamorphosis, and hybridogenesis. I propose a nuanced understanding of postcoloniality that challenges normative notions of identity and violence, advocating for a nonlinear trans-species future. AMTP Proceedings 2025

This study uses a one-ad experimental design to test the effect of African American Vernacular English (AAVE) on Black Twitter, employing an online survey with a convenience sample. It examines cultural differences within Black African co-cultures, emphasizing how language variation influences consumer behavior in social media advertising. The findings indicate that Black consumers with positive attitudes toward advertisements featuring AAVE are more likely to engage with the content on Twitter and subsequently purchase the promoted brand. This supports attitude theory (Fishbein & Ajzen, 1975) and social distinctiveness theory (Grier, 2001), demonstrating a significant correlation between ethnic resolution and purchasing behavior.

Introduction: De Quervain's stenosing tendinosis (DQST) is common in new mothers because of awkward wrist postures during repetitive mothering occupations such as nursing and lifting their baby. However, little is known about how DQST affects occupations of first-time mothers. This study aimed to explore the experiences of first-time mothers living with DQST and how it affects performance of their motherhood occupations.
