Undergraduate Program In Eastern Africa For Adults Serving The Poor, Susanne M. Dumbleton Ph.D.
Vincentian Studies
Susanne Dumbleton explains what Vincentian universities in general can do to accomplish poverty reduction. Graduates should be prepared for careers that would enable them to influence government and the private sector to adopt the best solutions for poverty reduction. Students already in leadership positions should be empowered with skills and knowledge to increase their projects’ success. Poor persons’ access to education should be increased. Research should be conducted on poverty and poverty reduction. Dumbleton’s specific focus is on the undergraduate program at Tangaza College in Nairobi and its partnership with DePaul University. At the time she was writing, the program …

An Examination Of The Significant Factors Motivating Early Liberty University Ministerial Graduates To Envision And Pursue Ambitious Ministry Opportunities, David Wesley Hirschman
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
From its inception, Liberty University has produced ministerial graduates that have envisioned and pursued ambitious ministry opportunities. Whether planting new churches, establishing new mission agencies in foreign nations, or launching a worldwide network of Christian schools, the manner in which early Liberty University ministerial graduates envisioned and pursued ministry opportunities is the direct result of the influences present during the early years of the school. This process of influence included factors that combined to create a climate of confidence and expectation among ministerial graduates, prompting many to envision and pursue ambitious ministry opportunities that endured to become thriving and lasting …

Irregular Egyptian Migration Of Unaccompanied Minors To Italy: A Journey Of Death Or Salvation?, Hend A. F. Hafez
Theses and Dissertations
The irregular migration of Egyptian unaccompanied minors to Italy is a recent development within the migration flow between the two countries. The alarming rate of increase since 2007 of Egyptian boys under the age of 18 arriving in Italy unaccompanied and the lack of information explaining this phenomenon necessitated research in the field. The study reviews the reasons behind this type of migration, recent policy developments in both countries, the problems experienced by the social workers and managers of the boys in Italy, and the dilemmas facing the boys because of this migration. The study relied mainly on primary sources …

Student Ministry: Preparing Young People As Leaders For The 21st Century, Chris Hackett, Shane D. Lavery
Education Conference Papers
Ministry with young people has never been more important. Ever-increasing local, national and global concerns demand that schools must do more than prepare young people as responsible citizens. They must prepare young people as emerging leaders with a civic conscience who proactively seek solutions to issues such as increased poverty, the plight of refugees, terrorism, climate change, and corporate greed. This article is about student ministry. Student ministry, as defined in this article, specifically aims to build leadership capacity in school students. In particular, the article attempts to highlight the distinctiveness of student ministry and those ways it promotes and …
