Preaching With Audio-Visuals, Ervin K. Thomsen Jan 1977

Preaching With Audio-Visuals, Ervin K. Thomsen

Doctor of Ministry Projects

Problem

The increasing usage of audio-visuals in modern communication has brought about an increase in communication efficiency, an efficiency that is sometimes lacking in sermons. Audio-visuals can be viewed by the Christian church as either legitimate or illegitimate means of communication in preaching. If the church accepts these media as genuine and valid vehicles of communication of its message, it must then discover ways of employing audio-visuals effectively and responsibly in preaching.

This proliferation of research, however, was bothered by a continued confusion between the mechanics of the technology and the design rules for the process of education. The needed distinction between the instruments of instruction and the application of instructional processes was made clear recently by Armsey and Dahl (1974). Nevertheless, the confusion continues, particularly in the kind of research that is being conducted.

An Innovative Instructional Unit On Manufacturing Concepts And Terminology For Junior High Industrial Arts, James K. Martin Jan 1977

An Innovative Instructional Unit On Manufacturing Concepts And Terminology For Junior High Industrial Arts, James K. Martin

Numerous curriculum programs have been developed to provide the teacher with the necessary instructional materials and also provide students with educational-occupational guidance for the world of work. Yet, many of these programs are not being utilized by industrial arts educators.

Research has shown that most manufacturing curricula range from one to two semesters in length. In order for the teacher to wholly adopt one of these programs, considerable organizational …
