Analysis Of The Represented Interior Space: Hermeneutic Study Of The Peres Maldonado Ex-Voto, Blanca Ruiz Esparza Díaz De León, Héctor Omar Gonzaléz Romo
Interiority
The paper demonstrates the application of Henri Lefebvre's postulates in the hermeneutical study of the Peres Maldonado Ex-voto, created in Aguascalientes in 1777. This piece, authored by an unknown artist, likely illustrates the first mastectomy performed in Mexican lands. This study employs an analytical framework that integrates the propositions made by the philosopher Henri Lefebvre and the experiential spatial systems proposed by the authors. The former formulates a conceptual foundation that unfolds the body in three spatial dimensions: mental, physical, and social. The unfolding could make possible the defragmentation of the painting's elements to analyse the concept of corporeality or …

Southern Californian Clinicians’ Perspectives Of Online Treatment For Adolescents With Eating Disorders, Sandra Mcintyre
Southern Californian Clinicians’ Perspectives Of Online Treatment For Adolescents With Eating Disorders, Sandra Mcintyre
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Treatment for eating disorders in adolescents is constantly changing and improving. With the recent COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a major transition to telehealth treatment. Studies on the efficacy and experience of telehealth have mainly focused on clients and families, leaving out clinician perspectives. Little research has also been done on how telehealth can be improved on now that it is more commonly used. Lewin’s field theory formed the framework for this qualitative study to explore clinicians’ suggestions to improve telehealth treatment for eating disorders. Ten specialized mental health clinicians provided data collected using two sequenced questionnaires. Analysis of the …

The New Pornography Wars, Julie Dahlstrom
The New Pornography Wars, Julie Dahlstrom
Florida Law Review
The world’s largest online pornography conglomerate, MindGeek, has come under fire for the publishing of “rape videos,” child pornography, and nonconsensual pornography on its website, Pornhub. In response, as in the “pornography wars” of the 1970s and 1980s, lawyers and activists have turned to civil remedies and filed creative anti-trafficking lawsuits against MindGeek and third parties, like payment processing company, Visa. These lawsuits seek not only to achieve legal accountability for online sex trafficking but also to reframe a broader array of online harms as sex trafficking. This Article explores what these new trafficking lawsuits mean for the future regulation …

Aligning Audience Needs With Scientists’ Information In The Complex Harmful Algal Bloom Outreach To Engagement Continuum, Erica Clites, Heather Triezenberg, Diane Doberneck
Journal of Contemporary Water Research and Education
Algae, an important foundation of aquatic ecosystems, can become a nuisance or harmful when it grows in excess. Many government agencies have a role in monitoring, responding to, and confirming a harmful algal bloom (HAB). HAB scientists have important information to share, however, given the complexities of HABs, which often involve decoupled drivers from observed impacts, presents challenges to outreach and engagement. Understanding key audience information needs can help scientists prioritize key science communication and engagement opportunities to maximize the impact of such efforts. Scientists may need additional science communication training or support for scientist-community partnerships. This will be evermore …

A “Scary Time” To Be A Man? Comparing Men’S Engagement With Anti-Sexual Violence Discourses In The Private And Public Sphere, Melissa A. Kinsella
A “Scary Time” To Be A Man? Comparing Men’S Engagement With Anti-Sexual Violence Discourses In The Private And Public Sphere, Melissa A. Kinsella
Dissertations
The prevalence of sexual misconduct and its consequences for individuals and society remain pressing issues in the United States. While the #MeToo movement has emerged as a prominent response to these challenges, it has faced criticism for emphasizing a singular survivor narrative. Similarly, the study and theorization of sexual violence within sociology have remained limited in scope. This work extends empirical and theoretical perspectives on sexual misconduct by analyzing #MeToo’s utilization in Twitter1 posts from 2017 to 2022, as well as how individuals discuss sexual misconduct in relation to the movement. Additionally, I examine the influence of gender, race, and …

Most countries around the world have entered the endemic stage of the novel coronavirus after 2 years of battling with the soaring rise of infections among the people. As of 1 April 2022, Malaysia, a country which has one of the highest rates of infection per capita in Southeast Asia, has entered the endemic phase of Covid-19. For a will to be valid in Malaysia, the formalities in the Wills Act 1959 (Revised 1998) must be strictly conformed to. A slight deviation from the formalities would render invalid the will that conveys the testamentary intention of the testator. The Covid-19 …

A Dehazing And Enhancement Algorithm For Heterogeneous Images Of Underground Mining Environments In Coal Mines, Zhang Xuhui, Xie Yanbin, Yang Wenjuan, Zhang Chao, Wan Jicheng, Dong Zheng, Wang Yanqun, Jiang Jie, Li Long
Coal Geology & Exploration
Objective In coal mines, the uneven distribution of dust haze and complex illumination conditions caused by underground coal mining and dust removal lead to blurred video images, as well as the loss of information and details. Hence, this study proposed a dehazing and enhancement algorithm for heterogeneous images of underground mining environments. Methods Initially, hazy images were segmented into zones with different brightness values, for which the average ambient light intensity of global dark channels was calculated. The calculation results were integrated through weighting with the ambient light of local bright channels, which was obtained using adaptive gamma correction and …

Social Media And Democracy In The Digital Era: “Desak Anies” Capturing The Hearts Of Young People’S Participation In Social Media, Teguh Satria, Dian Eka Rahmawati
Jurnal Wacana Politik
This research aims to analyse the ‘Desak Anies’ political campaign strategy run by Anies Baswedan in the 2024 Indonesian General Election, focusing on the use of social media and direct interaction to increase young voter engagement. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data collection was conducted through analysis of mass media sources, literature reviews, and interactions on Twitter social media, which were then processed using Nvivo 12 Plus software. The data analysis technique in this study uses an interactive model technique developed by Miles, Huberman, & Saldaña which consists of three stages, namely data reduction, …

Compendium
This Compendium has its origins in the Undergraduate Practice-Based Research Community of Practice (CoP) established as an outcome to a Faculty of Arts & Humanities Teaching and Learning symposium that highlighted the importance of practice-based learning, including research, at undergraduate level.
The examples in this Compendium describe research that is focused on active-learning goals that help in creating a richer learning experience for students, assisting them to become more capable and effective learners across a range of disciplines in the Arts and Humanities.
Thirteen cross-disciplinary case studies are presented in this compendium that seek to both contribute to this …
“Me Dancing”: An Intrinsic Case Study Of Primary School Girls’ Understandings Of Movement And Dance Through Their Drawings, Rosemary Bennett, Jane Southcott
“Me Dancing”: An Intrinsic Case Study Of Primary School Girls’ Understandings Of Movement And Dance Through Their Drawings, Rosemary Bennett, Jane Southcott
The Qualitative Report
Children’s drawings powerfully illuminate their views and opinions about movement experiences in a range of environments. For younger children it is more pertinent to seek their ideas via their drawings. Using the voices and images of primary school age girls, we examine their understandings of movement and dance. Using an intrinsic case study method, two classes of eight-to-ten-year-old girls in a suburban primary school in Melbourne Australia were asked to produce a drawing of “me dancing.” Each child was invited to expand on their drawing in a short open-ended interview. The drawings were analysed in different ways and compared with …
