Management Of Operations In Projects Including Planning, Organization And Control From The Beginning To The End Of Implementation, Burim Isa Berisha Dr.Sc

International Journal of Business and Technology

The project usually arises as soon as the client’s need is identified, and goes through all the extensive phases and sub-phases to take its true form and put into operation. The project is divided into two main parts that include Planning and Implementation that are separate in these stages: definition, planning, organization, control, completion. Planning involves a detailed calculation of the project. This includes known facts, admissible facts and risk calculation. Activity model used by IKOMs Planning as a process involves the cost that accompanies it. The manager must strike the balance between cost and benefit. Project control uses data …

The Relationship Between Sport Fan Dysfunction And Trait Aggression, Daniel L. Wann Phd, Jana Hackathorn, Morgan Brost Nov 2023

The Relationship Between Sport Fan Dysfunction And Trait Aggression, Daniel L. Wann Phd, Jana Hackathorn, Morgan Brost

Findings in Sport, Hospitality, Entertainment, and Event Management

The current investigation was designed to examine the relationships among sport fandom, dysfunctional sport fandom, and trait aggression. Although past research had yielded inconsistent results (Wann et al., 1999, 2002), based on more recent research (Castleman et al., 2020) it was hypothesized that fan dysfunction would be a significant positive predictor of trait aggression while sport fandom would be a significant negative predictor of trait aggression. Additionally, we predicated that fan dysfunction would mediate the relationship between sport fandom and trait aggression. Analyses supported each hypothesis, indicating that once one takes into account the dysfunctional component of sport fandom, fandom …

Participation, Commitment, And Loyalty Towards Youth Tennis: Player And Parent Perceptions, Jill Fjelstul, Asli Tasci, Alan Fyall, Karl Davies

Journal of Tourism Insights

Sports, in general and tennis specifically, offer diverse benefits for youth in social, physical, psychological, and mental dimensions. These benefits are known to influence commitment and loyalty towards sports. Nonetheless, the influence of perceived benefits on youth commitments and loyalty to tennis has been a void in the literature. Assuming the parental influence on youth participation in sport in general and in tennis specifically, this study measured and compared the youth tennis players’ and their parents’ perceived benefits of tennis. The study depicted physical well-being, life skills, and fun as the highly-rated perceived benefits by both players and parents/guardians. Life …

Looking Back To Look Forward: Exploring Crenshaw’S Political, Structural, And Representational Intersectionality In Sport, Allison Anders Ph.D., James M. Devita, Leslee A. Fisher, Chris Corr, Christina L. Myers

Faculty Publications

Engaging with Kimberlé Crenshaw’s concept of intersectionality, the authors (re)turn to its genesis in critical race theory (CRT) and specifically, its forms of structural intersectionality, political intersectionality, and representational intersectionality. Discussing each form in relation to contemporary issues in sport that Black women and women of Color navigate, they argue that Crenshaw’s intersectionality provides additional compelling layers of engagement with existing intersectional scholarship and scholarship about activism in sport, invites structural and discursive change through intersectional policies and practice, and promotes coalition building toward intersectional racial justice in sport.

Promising Practices For Creating More Diverse, Equitable, Inclusive, And Racially Just Summertime Programs And Camps, Meagan Ricks, Jim Sibthorp

Journal of Youth Development

LGBTQ+, racial/ethnic minorities, youth from low-income contexts, and youth with cognitive and/or physical disabilities often face constraints to access and participation based on social and structural inequality. Understanding access and inclusion in summertime recreation program and camp settings for LGBTQ+, racial/ethnic minorities, individuals from low-income contexts, and individuals with disabilities begins with examining promising practices and policies already applied in some of these settings. The purpose of this study is to compile current promising practices implemented by youth-serving summertime recreation programs and camps recognized for their work in diversity, equity, inclusion, and racial justice (DEIRJ). Representatives from both national organizations …

Pricing Under Uncertainty: Forward And Option Pricing In Sports Markets, Preethika Sainam, Sridhar Balasubramanian, Shantanu Bhattacharya, Lin L. Ong

Tickets to popular elimination style tournaments (e.g., NFL Super Bowl) are expensive and scarce. Sports organizations sell these tickets well in advance of the final game. Fans hesitate to buy them because they are unsure about whether their favorite team will play in it. We present two alternatives to the current practice: consumer forwards and options. A fan pays a reserve price to secure her team-specific forward ticket. If that team makes it to the final game, the fan must (in the option case, has the choice to) pay an exercise price to purchase the ticket. If the team does …

The Crusading Days Of Jackie Stewart: Evaluating The Development Of Safety In Motor Racing During The 1960s., Alex Twitchen Oct 2023

The Crusading Days Of Jackie Stewart: Evaluating The Development Of Safety In Motor Racing During The 1960s., Alex Twitchen

Journal of Motorsport Culture & History

This article critically evaluates the contribution of Jackie Stewart in making motor racing a safer sport for competitors. It challenges the validity of the popular assumption that Jackie Stewart by himself developed a ‘culture of safety’ that transformed the sport. Instead, the role of other individuals are identified alongside the importance of three social processes. These processes are identified as the changing balance of power between different masculine identities, the development of commercial sponsorship and a growth in the coverage of the sport on television.

The development of motor racing from the 1960s onwards as a safer sport in which …

Winning Back Attendance: Effects Of Winning Performance, Online Search, And The Mlb Rule Changes For More Dynamic Games, Rhino Kim, Sue Ryung Chang

Asia Marketing Journal

As Major League Baseball (MLB)’s continuous decline in popularity has caused its game attendance to drop gradually, the league makes a desperate attempt such as game rule changes to remain relevant. Along with the introduction of new rules to make games more dynamic such as the pitch clock, bigger bases, and defensive shift limitations, it is important for MLB franchises to understand drivers for game attendance. We focus on the effect of accumulated winning performance of the two teams on game attendance, one of the key drivers of game attendance, and investigate how it is influenced by consumer and industry …

Poetic Meaning And Perspectives On Sport: Introducing Kinesiology Undergraduates To Mysticism, Celene Tehya Balido, Coby Allen Barbar, Mia Isabella Napolitano, Jenner Robert Sapienza Oct 2023

Poetic Meaning And Perspectives On Sport: Introducing Kinesiology Undergraduates To Mysticism, Celene Tehya Balido, Coby Allen Barbar, Mia Isabella Napolitano, Jenner Robert Sapienza

International Journal of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities

Mysticism in sport is a unique experience in which someone is engulfed by a feeling of existence both in real time and stopped time as well as entering a realm of unparalleled reality surrounded by mind and spirit (Higgs & Braswell, 2004). Despite the inexplicability of mystic experiences, poetry provides one means of deciphering them. The purpose of this article is to model how sport participants could be engaged in a process of self-reflective inquiry, then self-author scholarship that synthesizes and interprets the results of their self-reflection. During their 2021 Winter Quarter course on perspectives in physical activity, four undergraduate …

Impact Of Professional Women Athletes' Media Representations On Collegiate Women Athletes, Rae Martinez, Jennifer Bhalla Oct 2023

Impact Of Professional Women Athletes' Media Representations On Collegiate Women Athletes, Rae Martinez, Jennifer Bhalla

International Journal of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities

There is a lack of representation of women athletes from professional to collegiate sports in U.S. media. For example, Fink (2015) studied the inequities between male and women athletes to understand the harmful nature of the implication of these inequities. Other social constructs arise with the objectification of women athletes. Harrison and Fredrickson (2013) found a connection between aging of adolescent girls to women and an increase of self-objectification. They explained their results using Objectification Theory, which teaches young women to “regard themselves in an objectified gaze” from adolescence. The purpose of this study was to examine women collegiate athletes’ …

Do Perceived Value And Satisfaction Affect Customers’ Behavioural Intentions? A Case Study Of Polish Squash Clubs, Monika Piątkowska

Journal of Marketing and Consumer Behaviour in Emerging Markets

The aim of the paper is to analyze relations between perceived quality, service convenience and satisfaction of squash customers to present implications for managers who address parents enrolling their children for extracurricular activities with their services. Applying the research framework of García-Fernández et al. (2018), a sample of 120 parents from Legia Warszawa Squash Academy completed an online survey in 2021. The SEM model revealed that perceived quality as well as service convenience had a positive and significant effect on perceived value, which turned out to be a strong predictor of customer satisfaction. Finally, satisfaction showed a very strong positive …

Evaluating Video Feedback To Improve Esports Performance In Street Fighter V, Romel C. White Oct 2023

Evaluating Video Feedback To Improve Esports Performance In Street Fighter V, Romel C. White

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

eSports is a newly rising field with rapidly increasing cultural validity. Despite the wide array of similarities between eSports and traditional sports, behavioral skill acquisition interventions have yet to be applied to video game skills. Feedback-based behavioral interventions in particular have been commonly used and implemented for effective skill acquisition for traditional sports. Although video feedback has been established as effective in conjunction with video modeling for traditional sports, further research is needed to validate its efficacy as a standalone intervention. In this study, the effects of video feedback were analyzed with three participants in a nonconcurrent multiple baseline across …

Should Minor League Mean Minor Pay: A Student Analysis Of The Public Debate, Mia Isabella Napolitano, Jafrā D. Thomas Oct 2023

Should Minor League Mean Minor Pay: A Student Analysis Of The Public Debate, Mia Isabella Napolitano, Jafrā D. Thomas

International Journal of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities

Historically, and at the time of this study’s project, many minor league baseball players in the United States were paid below the federal minimum wage, which has been recently circulating in the media and has been a source of ongoing controversy (McDaniel, 2022). This article is a write-up to the first author’s end-of-term course project, which was supervised by the second author. The objective of the present study was to perform a historical and philosophical analysis of the public debate on minor league pay as well as describe ethical arguments within the debate. This should guide future debates on labor …

Minnesota Twins Professional Sport Experience, Tiffany Challoner Oct 2023

Minnesota Twins Professional Sport Experience, Tiffany Challoner

Master of Arts in Sport Management

I completed an eight-week professional sport experience with the Minnesota Twins in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The sport experience consisted of both weekly sessions where our cohort was introduced to 19 guest speakers who hold different roles within the Twins organization and shadowing experience in different departments. My shadowing experiences consisted of guest services, ballpark operations, and ballpark tours. I was able to see first-hand how guest services respond to different situations that occur, such as re-seating guests who were unable to sit in their ticketed seats. I was hopeful to build confidence in myself to find a role within sports and …
